Title: The Ctrl-V Thread!
Post by: Rosella on July 15, 2010, 02:52:18 AM
Yes, I might be on a thread-starting kick. ::) Yet another one from the old forums that's now in the archives. It's not very complicated; you just paste whatever's in your clipboard, and maybe explain why it's there or, in some cases, what in the world it is. :P

For me, it's

The rules are simple. No posting except for between the hours of sunset to sunrise in your part of the world. I completely understand that this may not in fact happen, but it'd be pretty cool if it did.  So, all you people of the night, feel free to post to your hearts content, and maybe just tell everyone a little bit about your day/evening, how you're doing, etc. (The possibilities are endless, no? ) As for me, it's 1am right now, and I'm writing to a certain girl who's fallen ill... (And fallen asleep!) Your turn.

Since, you know, I just started the new Night Owl thread. :P

The gold coins in MOE (presumably from the chest of gold, since it was Daventry's common currency in the game) had no dicernanable images, from what I recall, looking more like little golden wafers.

I was going to reply to a post in the thread about the coins but decided not to.

Snow, snow, I wanna wash my hands, my face and hair with snow

When my servants drop things or grumble or whine
It's never too long before they're back in line

Once long ago I was training a slave
Who endeavored most stubbornly not to behave
So I cut off a finger or two with a knife
And threatened to slaughter his child and his wife
Then I stripped him down naked and strapped to a horse
I dragged him through miles of bramble and gorse
Poured salt in his wounds and rolled him in rubble
That was the last time he gave any trouble

Was sending Cara's poem from LotS to a friend earlier.

QuoteI think they didn't for kind of the same reason I suspect the Cliffs of Logic were done away with in TSL -- the spells were a sort of copy protection. You couldn't cast them without the manual. I don't think IA wanted to make that a necessity for their remake.

To be honest though, and I know I'm in the minority here, I liked the ending of the KQ3 remake (I didn't care for their changes to Alexander's kidnapping, however). It just seems more likely that Graham would want to pass on his adventurers cap after actually getting to know his son for at least a little while. And Alexander, having no idea the significance of the cap, would likely not care that much that it was being passed on. All Alexander knows about his father at this point is that he's a king and whether or not he gives good hugs, you know? (I know Rosella told him "all about their parents" but it's not quite the same as getting to know someone.)
That's from a wild ago! My internet died while I was posting, and I wasn't sure if it was back or not so I put it on my clipboard.

(In case anyone is wondering, I've been accessing the forums from two computers, which is why that's older than the last thing that was on my clipboard!)

Individual Assignment: The Issue Paper

·         Conduct a literature search and select one article, published in the last 3 years, addressing one of the following educational issues:

o    Finance

o    Governance

o    Curriculum

o    Changing demographics

o    Instructional practices

o    Issues and challenges present in urban versus rural school districts

·         Summarize the selected article and analyze in a 1,050-word paper how this issue might affect your school.

·         Format your paper according to APA standards.

Ew disgusting, apparently I'm attempting to work on a paper for school.

HAHAHAHA yeah I just put that as my status on Facebook, it was a really strange dream.  Then I woke up and realized they don't have rehab for that, they just have vacations.

Within the first 82 pages we have started to see Mibs's savvy start to come to life. Ingrid Law is pointing us in one direction as to what her savvy might be. By using specific examples from the book do you trust the author's intentions? In other words, is she leading us down the right path in terms of Mibs's savvy? Or do you think we will be surprised? Last, analyze how Law draws the reader's attention one way or the other and why she does so.

I was posting this on a school discussion board for a class tomorrow.

How many class of Geology do you have to take Adrianne? (Is that how you spell your name?) I hated it, took 2 classes for my general requirements a couple years ago. It was boring and made no sense to me. But the alternative was things like Physics or Chemistry. Even worse!

I don't like anything that "dumbs down" the internet. Give people credit for understanding what it means. Start hiding details and before you know it some new scam comes out that tricks people.
I'm thinking of Microsoft's policy of hiding file name extensions. It didn't take long before people were fooled into clicking on Readme.txt.exe files because they mistook it for a harmless document.

Looking up why Chrome isn't showing protocols anymore. :-\

Without Limits – Movie about Pete Fontaine
Battlestar Galactica Season 4.0 & 4.5 (He thinks... This is probably too expensive...)

The picture of Japan shows how small triangles on a curved surface contain nearly 180 total degrees, but not exactly 180 total degrees because a triangle can only exactly contain 180 degres total on a flat surface.

The degree measures for Japan are rounded.

Quote1a. Varian - hot-headed, brutal, violent, racist, and more than a little unstable. He is absolutely devoted to his people, however, and tries his best to overcome his failings to lead them. Having lost his wife, he considers his son his absolute greatest treasure and would (and has) done anything to save him. He was, briefly, split into two people. They were merged, which created a sort of bipolar Varian "Lo'Gosh" Wrynn.

1b. Garrosh - extremely ruthless and hotheaded, believes in the Orcs as some kind of master race. He is not really able to relate to others, however, even of his own race which makes his worthiness as a leader somewhat questionable.

2a. Tyrande - highly protective of her people, despite being a generally peaceful priestess she is also a skilled warrior. She is somewhat rash, although not as much as Varian. She loves most of her people and the forest, but she is incredibly untrusting of other people.

2b. Sylvanas - truly ruthless, defiant and stubborn. She is a born leader and an expert tactician.

3a. Velen - loving, trusting, incredibly wise. Super flat character, but then again..... did you expect more? You played that expansion!

3b. Lor'themar - uhm...... he's..... uhm..... able to speak in at least two languages? And.... and.... he.... leads people? I think?

4a. Magni Bronzebeard - unsure of himself, yet a strong leader for his people. He is very reflective upon the past but is able to jump to action when it is called for. In general, he is not very assertive but can be very authoritative when he wants to be. Of course, he's a diamond now so his personality is kind of irrelevant. :P

4b. Cairne Bloodhoof - dead, at the moment. Before that, he was wise and levelheaded -- possibly the most levelheaded leader in either faction? He was also incredibly brave. Until he got killed!

5a. Mekkatorque - ill-equipped to lead people, Makkatorque is a complete engineering genius. While a skilled tactician, he is not by any means a military genius. His understanding of people also leaves much to be desired, which is why he sometimes needs help inspiring his own people and spurring them to action. Because of this he is often swayed by others and can be somewhat gullible. Still, he recognizes their needs and would do anything to fulfill them.

5b. Vol'jin - wise and subtle, Vol'jin will do anything to support his people even at the cost of his own pride and dignity. He is very thoughtful and spends time on each careful decision that he makes. He is also highly loyal.... to Thrall and any other who has earned his respect.

6a. Genn Graymane - xenophobic and selfish on behalf of his people. He is proud and stubborn but not unkind. He is impatient, but is understanding of plights of others.

6b. Gallywix - cunning, scheming, dishonest and disrespectful. And downright mean!

Someone issued a challenge on the WoW forums to see if anyone could describe the personalities of all the leaders. His argument was that all Horde leaders are more fleshed out than Alliance leaders.
Unfortunately for his point, no one has yet been able to describe Lor'themar the Blood Elf leader. :P

Ready for this?
QuoteBorn shortly after the beginning of the First War in Goldshire, Cray Auchtin was but a newborn when his family was forced to flee the town due to the Orcs attacking it. Cray, in his father's protective arms, was separated from his mother. She was not seen again.
Living with an adventurous Warrior such as Cray's father is far from easy, and the two traveled often. In the Second War, Cray's father left the boy in the city of Lordaeron for safety. When the war ended, his father returned. He had suffered injury but survived.

No longer able to handle as much excitement as he once had, Cray's father began training his son. They still traveled and adventured as much as they could and Cray became as skilled a warrior as his father -- if not more. In the Third War began, however, the two split up. Cray traveled with the Alliance to Kalimdor, while his father stayed in the Eastern Kingdoms. Somehow, his father was slain despite being in safer lands. The exact details are still unknown.

Angered upon his return, Cray sought answers or vengeance. Initially, he found his reprieve from grief only in the bottom of flagons of ale. Good fortune smiled upon the veteran, however, when he stumbled into the Stormwind Cathedral of Light near his home in Stormwind City. There, he discovered the Light and the calm he truly sought. After he had sobered up, he was sent to Northshire Abbey for training. Taking vows and finally becoming a true Paladin, Cray began adventuring across Azeroth. He particularly aided the Argent Dawn.

When the War Against the Lich King brought Heroes, soldiers, and adventurers to Northrend, Cray fervently battled against Arthas Menethil and his undead Scourge. Upon returning home from the war, Cray returned to Northshire with many Paladins. Then, the Shattering broke the world and Deathwing was released. Rather than defend against the hostilities of the Horde or the danger posed by Deathwing and the Twilight's Hammer, however, Cray was ordered to return to the Eastern Plaguelands to keep the Scourge in check. The Paladin refused, and set out on his own to defend Azeroth as he saw fit.

Almost immediately, Cray began to undergo a crisis of faith. As before, Cray turned to relief in the form of alcohol and so began to frequent the tavern called the Blue Recluse. This made things worse, as Cray accidentally resurrected a Draenei Shadow Priest when she was slain in the tavern. Shortly afterwards, Cray encountered the Pia Presidium and was inspired to join them. Finding renewed faith in these like-minded individuals, Cray began to resolve his crisis of faith.

As Cray set about defending the people of Stormwind, he found himself frequently aiding and butting heads with the Stormwind City Watch. Most notably, this occured when he joined them in the manhunt for his missing friend Ferret and her captor Sathrasa. While several members of the Watch insisted Ferret be held responsible for recent murders she appeared to have committed, Cray firmly believed that Sathrasa was the driving influence behind and therefore the one responsible for the deaths. This was confirmed, but not before a confrontation with Sathrasa during which she impaled Cray through the shoulder with a magical and poisonous spear. Though Talrathis was able to offer some healing at the scene, the wound was quite severe. It was stitched closed soon after by Mithara, although the wound prevented Cray from embarking on many adventures following this.

Not long after this, Cray discovered that the book Surabar had been researching in was slowly influencing him, changing him. Although Cray was unable to solve the situation without the help of Gentyl.

Cray also discovered the third victim of the Silencer of Screams.

Cray quickly ascended the ranks of the Pia Presidium, becoming a Templar Knight and taking on squires. While he often found it difficult to control his emotions and set a good example for his squires, Cray was soon drawn into conflict with the Draenei Death Knight Cyrus, who was attempting to raise a former friend and ally from the Horde through use of a necromantic weapon -- much as the Lich King had done. With the help of the rest of the Pia Presidium, the conflict was resolved... but not before Cyrus and Cray battled several times, each time leaving Cray heavily wounded. The conflict also cost the Pia Presidium the allegiance of one of Cray's squires, Ria.

In the midst of this conflict, the terrifying Ardam burned down an orphanage in Stormwind City. Cray has sworn retribution for the act and continues to seek out a means to exact justice upon the evil-doer.

That's my WoW character's story up to this point. For my guild's website. SO LONG. :P

und suchen nach dem Gevatter Tod.
Fleisch mag gehen,
wohin Tote schreiten und herausfordern,
wie einst Scheherezade,

um den Atem eines Sterblichen zu gewinnen."
