That's why god made VB, perl, heck... you could export it to XML and use C++ or Java to do it ;) That's what I'd do because I HATE HATE :stabs: data entry!
Perhaps, but try telling that to a bunch of editors with NO programming experience whatsoever!
One guy at my company did use PERL to help data entry on another project, actually, but when I was talking to him about this particular aspect of this project, he didn't think we'd be able to use it to help any.

-Feeling horrible and worthless because my father left from the waiting room *when I was having it inserted* go to a village event, leaving me stranded and without a way of getting back home and without a coat or a wallet or a train ticket or drugs and in agony. He didn't even bother to pick up his phone, just sending me a text telling me to "wait somewhere", and I was stranded there for an hour before my gynecologist closed the practice to drive me home. When he finally called two hours later to see where I was, he didn't bother to ask how it had gone or how I was doing. I should add that it was traumatic enough because I'd been forced to do this and didn't want an IUD.

Writers often feel that their own writing sounds terrible. ;) It's probably fine. You can't always self-read for the subjective stuff, but you should be able to be certain that it conforms to standard grammar (or at least to the registers you intend to use if you are using a mixture). :P

The last chapter of KQ5? For a wiki or something?
I think he means his fanfic. :)
Yes, the latest chapter which is chapter 4. I THOUGHT I was done, until I posted it in a message to Delling, who told me I need to work on my pacing on the fight in the desert... and for the past couple of days, I've been trying to edit it somehow so it flows better. And, I still feel stuck. I want to move onto the Gypsy scenes badly, but I also need to work on this. *exasperated sigh* :stab:
Oh, and for the record, I'm a girl. And yes, Cray has offered to put this (and I think my QFG fanfic too?) on his wiki once it is done.
Oh, I'm so sorry. :( That was embarrassing. :-[
:stabs: Food poisoning. :( We went to a lovely place for lunch; it had a turret and a bell tower and cameos on the walls and a baroque garden and was terribly expensive, but we were celebrating my paper and presentation. Dessert was white and milk chocolate mousse. :P
It's alright, Deloria! :)
*sigh* maybe I should just post the chapter anyway and move on?
Don't feel like you need to write everything sequentially. If you want to write the part with the gypsies, write the part with the gypsies. You'll be happier and more productive and after that's done, you can go back and work on more revising. Write whatever you feel inspired to write and don't get stressed if it's not perfect the first time through. It shouldn't be. :)
I guess I can save it for a second draft? *is slightly hopeful*
I almost never write anything in sequence. The plus side is it helps curb writers block.... although I tend to write in scenes and chunks and then at the end I go "Oh... wait.... there's nothing between when they're here and then later when I wrote this clever line...." :P
And the great thing about the Internet is everything is editable!
With my latest personal writing endeavor, a novel I'm working on, I've made great efforts to go in order, straight from start to finish, because that's something that's been quite hard for me, actually finishing! I'm great at getting a few chapters in, setting things up, but when the task of getting into the plot comes along is where I often falter.
It's taken a while, and without having semi-regular deadlines of submitting work to my writing group, I wouldn't have been able to make it, but I'm actually getting close to the end! Of course, I've changed dozens of details and will need to go back and rewrite and adjust the whole damn thing plenty once I am done, but I'm glad I'm finally reaching the 'endgame' section.
Keep pushing, GrahamRocks, you can do it!

I find approaching the plot as a logistic problem/project (like organizing an event) is helpful for this, but then getting the actual story written that interconnects those points is often still very difficult for me. :-X So, using lots of organizational tools like timelines, etc.,
Another problem is that actual works often DO have breaks in time where several months or years pass with only a note that this has happened at the start of a paragraph or so (IF WE'RE LUCKY!!), and I find that really difficult to do... I find it really jarring. When I enter "story-writing" mode, I want to write EVERYTHING. ::)

THIS!!!! Normal people do not habitually
very nearly bleed to death because they don't ovulate normally and therefore can't stop the process. They do also not lie awake at night or wake up
screaming because they're having contractions
that never seem to end. They do not have their cycle suppressed because they would otherwise bleed to death or be hospitalised for pain management. They do not have monstrously large uterine blood clots that they have to give birth to. And they don't take narcotics every single day because they would otherwise be incapable of functioning because the pain is just too bad. People who have "bad periods" have NO IDEA what I go through
every day and that have nothing to do with how my cycle is.

Whoa whoa whoa WHOA. That IS quite a legitimate stabbing list! Don't you just hate getting flipped off? It's so insulting; someone who doesn't even know you can somehow hurt your feelings! >:(
And girl, I also feel your "time of the month" pain. I'm three freaking days late and I've had overly exaggerated PMS symptoms for the last THREE weeks. Pssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwww!
(And no, to answer everyone's questions, there is a zero chance of a baby Haids in nine months, Still a proud V-card holder!)
Okay, okay, I can see WHY you would have flipped me off: I accidentally moved in front of a truck in the next lane because I didn't see it in my mirrors, but still... how rude! First time I've had someone do that.
V-card holders ftw!
Take it from someone who's been in a chemically menopausal state before; it's not fun. Presumably you know that hormone levels can usually* be kept fairly stable with birth control and that you can actually avoid having cycles without any negative effects if you do your research properly. :P
*Unless your cycles are replaced with blood clots the size of two-month old parasitic lifeforms called "foetuses" that actually give you real contractions and that you physically have to give birth to every time you have hormonal fluctuations, in which case you really have bigger issues. :P
Personally I couldn't wait to have sex. Which somehow, I find almost equally inappropriate to discuss in public. :flirt:

A hysterectomy is a pretty drastic (and permanent) option, especially for someone so young. From what I've read, it isn't even a guaranteed cure for endometriosis.
True, but I'm kind of out of options and am currently on three different kinds of birth control and absurd doses of oxy and codeine. :P The next step is trying to have an analgesic foetus. ::)
If nothing else, it's good to see you posting again. We always have a hug saved for you, Deloria!

Me too! Proud owner.
Scratch that, I did. :stabs: the fact that I am larger than a lot of girls and therefore makes it harder to shop for clothes. We want to look cute too!
Unfortunately, a lot of people have problems trying to buy clothes that fit them properly. :-\ I have no idea whether this is an option for you, but I find it much easier to just go shopping for the year or however long when I'm in a different country where the average proportions are closer to my own. Which admittedly is much easier in Europe where foreign countries are less than an hour away. ::) Or buying clothes online.
I manage to hover right between mediums and larges. And button-down shirts, gah! I want them to work for me, so many of them are really cute, but then it's usually either a shirt that's too big in general, or that fits everywhere but has trouble buttoning without strain.
I've at least found stores that have clothing made for ladies with curves at this point and that work pretty consistently for me. (NY & Company, Ann Taylor, and The Loft are good ones, if their style is to your liking)
And of course, a host of silly t-shirts from places like Teefury.com and s***.woot.com :)
Don't be discouraged, Kristen. It's all part of being a chick! Everybody has something about themselves that they don't like, but it's all topical. People love you for who you are underneath the skin!
We need a "girl" thread where we can complain about this kind of stuff without the boys here feeling uncomfortable. :) Hmmm....*heads back to the Asylum main board*
