Oww, nice. So you have 2 warriors, are the both on the same server?  ;).  I had one fury warrior, undead, thought it was quite fun to play.  My main  (http://armory.wow-europe.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Sporeggar&cn=Adel) was Paladin though.

I stopped actively raidng myself well before Ice Crown came out, only did some casual poking around in 10 mans normal mode.

Yes they are in the same server. =) I am going to make a Worgen warrior when cataclysm comes out.

I'm probably going to be defenestrated for saying this, but I tried WoW for a month, and by the end I was like "I just don't get it. People get hopelessly addicted to this?"

*starts running for his life*

bleh, you can get addicted to anything if you let yourself I guess, I played the game for quite some years myself but never understood how people got addicted to it either.

I played for a while, had one character up to like level 35 or something, and then I just got bored and stopped.  Started playing Lord of the Rings Online instead.

I play, though I'm taking a break atm until Cataclysm. Been playing since it came out really, mostly with my father. Not really interested in raiding though, mostly do the more casual side.

Yeah, I'm about to be a lvl 70 Orc. I specialize in mining and jewel-crafting. I'm gonna try to get a drop mount. I want a faster one lol.

I'm waiting for the new expansion pack as well. Can't wait.

unless something changed since I left the mount isn't that much of a trouble, you vcan get a fast speed mount for a few hundered gold, it is the training that is costly.

speaking of gold. I have 250k in my private guildbank I never use, yay for wasted time!  ;)

I play! I haven't logged in in a while, I work too much! And I post too much! :P
In fact, I think I'm going to be like "eff it" to all of the other things I have to do today and log in. Seriously, I need to!

I still say we should make a TSL guild! (Or maybe two -- one Alliance and one Horde! We could call one the Silver Cloak Society and the other the Black Cloak Society! :P)

I started playing when Burning Crusade came out, and I had stopped right before the Arthas update on Wrath of the Lich King. I had a lvl 80 Death Knight, Rogue, and Warrior. I had some lower leveled characters as well, like a Paladin, Shaman, Druid, and a second Warrior. I gave up on the game because I had friends who were leaving once Cataclysm was revealed. I guess it's not for everybody. I don't think I'm going to go back, despite all of the hard work and time I put into it. But it's not a big deal. I had fun doing it. I am looking forward to Star Wars: The Old Republic, as well as Guild Wars 2. It may not compare to WoW, but like I said, the reason I left was I had nobody left to raid with. So apparently these other games are supposed to be catered towards loners.  :P

Did you end up logging in?  I really like the idea of starting a KQ guild.  I haven't played in a few months and would love to play a new character.

I got my Thor mini pet when I got my collector's edition of Starcraft 2 and with Real ID i can cross game chat when I play Starcraft 2 and also cross fraction chat as well.I finally got my PC fixed yesterday woot. =)
Title: Re: World of Warcraft
Post by: B'rrr on July 28, 2010, 02:44:02 AM
well, with the RealID you see some people play Starcraft when they normally play WoW, but they won't be playing SC all the time eventually they go back. so for a while there might be less people playing WoW but in the long run it won't matter much.

I played until 2005 when I received the first cross-faction mount on my server (back when you only had the Lost Supplies quest to gain limitless cross-faction with Stormwind) and consequently failed my second semester of college. :P WoW destroys lives if you go for the things nobody else has. DOOOON'T DOOOO IIIIT! It's fine if you just play casually with friends. I basically "beat the game" for myself, just like when I quit EverQuest after I got the Bard Epic (before Planes of Power). Ugh, MMORPGs! I HAVE NO TIME FOR YOU ANYMORE! GO AWAY!

Only expansion we ever tried was the Seafarers one, think we only played that one time, prefer the original. The other expansions look interesting though, if I had anyone to try them with. :P

I forgot all about the computer version! Now I need to go look at that again...

The barbarians and knights expansion allows for a two-player game :P Plus it has maybe 5 different scenerios to go along with it.

I had played Catan years ago and didn't care for it, but now...it's my favorite board game to play with Erik :)

I did log in for like two minutes before something else came up.

Now I'm swamped with work. Once Labor Day hits most of my work will be done done done though and I can play again!!!

Let's put into thinking about this KQ Guild....

First of all, what side?
Since we're all KQers on the side of good and justice, my vote is for Alliance. However, it might be fun to have a Horde sister guild!
Secondly... what server? I think PvE or suits us best. There's no "the nasty" going on in Goldshire, nobody is forced into PvP, and yet all of the options as far as RPing or PvPing are still there.
What's everyone else thinking?

I'm an alliance guy myself.  PVE sounds good.  We should start on a server where one of us already has a high level character so... you know... you can fund our guild ; )

Cat.... you play on a PvE server, yes? :P

My only high level toons (other than DKs) are on Argent Dawn which is RP (and also which has a Goldshire full of the absolutely filthiest drek you've ever read in your life -- ick ick ick! That's why my toons are high level, so they can avoid that hovel! :P)
Title: Re: World of Warcraft

yea, but it is not like you have to spend much time there, turn in a quest and pick a new one up, maybe learn some training, probably in and out in 2 mins, during which you can just avoid all chats

QuoteCat.... you play on a PvE server, yes? Tongue

We both have characters only on RP servers. I believe Cenarion Circle for both of us. I have another character on Feathermoon as well.

RP servers are fun, btw...  8)
Title: Re: World of Warcraft
Post by: crayauchtin on August 05, 2010, 11:27:01 AM
I know. I like RP servers, I love to RP (you may have noticed since I tried to start one on the forums :P) but not everyone on our forums does and I'd still rather avoid the NC-17 Goldshire if we can. :P Technically Rob is right, you don't have to spend a lot of time there and you *can* ignore it but it's better to just not have to run through a sexy party if you can help it. :P
On the other hand, I've sort of got an idea....... according to the KQ Omnipedia the city of Talanore supposedly touches on all realities so if we were RPing we could say we arrived on Azeroth from the world of Daventry via Talanore and then we'd be RPing both KQ and WoW. That could be fun!

I guess an RP server isn't actually much different than a PvE server though. Who's game for an RP server other than Cat and myself?

Of course, then we have to decide between Cenarion Circle, Feathermoon, or Argent Dawn.

Title: Re: World of Warcraft
Post by: crayauchtin on August 06, 2010, 05:22:35 PM
Cenarion it is! If I'm not going out tonight -- which I don't believe I will be -- I'll make a toon there tonight. I'll level some and harass Cat into making a guild.

If we're doing an RP server, we should have an RP storyline though. As I said, I think that Tanalore (http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/Tanalore), the city, is our "in" here -- so we can use the KQ mythos we know and love and the Warcraft mythos we also know and love.

Perhaps, we're a guild of adventurers begun by Graham and Connor after the events of the series, when they decided there was too much evil in the world not to have a formal organization, open to all who wished to combat the forces of darkness? In search of the evil we seek to vanquish, and in search of new recruits, we discovered the lost city and were transported to the world of Azeroth where we've discovered plenty of evil to fight...

I know, I know, an adventurers guild sounds way more Quest for Glory than King's Quest but work with me. I'm just spitting out ideas. :P

Thank goodness! I'm leveling as fast as I can, but it sure does take a while!

I did make a friend.... whose name I forget.... but she heads up a very successful guild (apparently the only LGBT friendly guild on the server -- which is what caught my eye). On Argent Dawn, my guild is part of a "Guild Alliance" which is super helpful, I'm thinking of raising the subject with her and seeing if she's game for it. Y'know, once we have a guild.

Similarly, I may invite some WoWers from another forum I post (anyone familiar with the Looking for Group webcomic?) to join us on there once the guild is up. That will make sure we have lots of friends to play with!

That's the impression I got, they're still working on it it's just taking forever. There was another video released besides the Richard one that I found recently (I think this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFdLtoKQ7HU) is it), that showed Richard and Cale singing with some of the unfinished graphics. If it ever comes out I definitely want to see it.

Eh, I'm just trying to lvl up my mining, jewelcrafting, and cooking skills. I'm not getting anymore experience points anymore...so now that's what I'm focused on. I can't mine Saronite because it requires a lvl 400 in mining and I'm at 397. I see it everywhere though, and it kills me that I'm not allowed to touch it. lol.

shouldn't be that hard to level, just fly to Howling fjord, dragonblight or Borean Tundra and mine a few nodes of Cobalt. or be lazy and get a mining/gathering enchant on your gloves (though, actually, just flying to the zones where Cobalt is is probably easier  :P)

Ha, I didn't even know about the enchantment...that's different. I've just been mining cobalt. I got it up so I can mine Saronite...but now I'm trying to get it up a little higher so I can mine that rare one...starts with a T...I saw a mine of it by a saronite mine but I couldn't touch it.

I've also spent a lot of money so I can get my cooking skills up..but hey, I can make a whole bunch of stuff now. lol.

Gahh getting completely sucked in again. :D Got on this morning for the first time in forever to go see the dialogue going on with Thrall, then found a link to the new cinematic (:D) and now just realized that The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm book is out (which the review on WoW Insider called one of the finest, if not the finest, WoW novel so far) and I'm sooo going to the bookstore tomorrow to buy it.

How does it manage to pull me back every single time? XD :D

Sadly though Cataclysm comes out during my exam week so I'll have to put it off for a bit when it gets here...

I miss weapon skills a little bit, but I have to say I'm really enjoying it.

One of my more critical friends on a different server mentioned that she's now having to completely relearn how to play as a Hunter (I think there may be some exaggeration, but you know... I don't play any Hunters so who knows?) but otherwise I think everyone's liking it.

Tess, are you going to make an Alliance toon on Cenarion Circle when we make the guild? Now that Cat and Erik are back it should not be much longer!

There's quest chains outside of the banks in Orgrimmar and Stormwind. There's also now groups of elementals randomly around Azeroth that appeared today.

According to Wow Insider the elementals will start spawning inside cities at some point (new ones, not the ones for the above quests) and you'll get "a daily quest object/item that lets you go through a portal and kill one of the two new daily bosses for this event: Prince Sarsarun or Kai'ju Gahz'rilla."
Title: Re: World of Warcraft
Post by: crayauchtin on November 02, 2010, 03:12:25 PM
Elementals are appearing inside cities! I did the whole quest chain (I started it in Darnassus, near the bank, where a Broken sent me to Stormwind), so exciting! Also, there's at least one big ol' portal (BIG) that has appeared in Darkshore, on the beach.
Have you guys sat through the meetings of the rulers either? I like the Alliance meeting better than the Horde one...

Oh those money/time deficitets, LOL Ya, its what's pretty much kept me from playing WOW for the last three years... I missed out on several of the world events :p... Those quests they removed from the game in Cataclysm, like Battle for Undercity...

Seriously its a shame they don't just do something like like in Lord of the Rings Online where some of the more compelling instanced quests can be accessed as memories. In some cases they even let you play as another character if its needed.

Title: Re: World of Warcraft
Post by: crayauchtin on January 03, 2011, 01:16:14 PM
They have the Caverns of Time too, it's not like it would be impossible to set it up. They just decided not to. It was dumb, I think, to break the whole world irreversibly like that. Especially because a lot of zones have barely changed at all.

I think, perhaps, a better solution would have been to release it as if the new Kalimdor and new Eastern Kingdoms were entirely new continents, leave the old content so that all of the storyline could be played through and then once you leave Northrend go to the "broken world" -- have them replace the old Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms at a certain level or something.

The only problem with that is the new class/race combos and new races rely pretty heavily on the Cataclysm for their lore, as to why they exist in the factions they exist in, etc, and if the world weren't shattered yet for those starting characters there's no real explanation. :\

Sometimes I wish WoW were a normal, single-player RPG so that the plot could just advance. :P

I've been trying to do every single quest -- not just for achievements but for the lore and stuff. I forgot I can't solo Uldaman even at level 63 though... (if you do every quest a human paladin can do in all the zones and then go do the instances in the "by level" order they're each listed in on Wowpedia, you're apparently level 63 when you get to Uldaman!)

That is to say, I'm doing all the "Classic" zones and instances and then I'll do the same for BC, and then WotLK, and then Cata. No, I'm not expecting to solo everything especially as I get farther along but I thought I was gonna try it with Uldaman since nobody I've been playing with wanted to run it with me.... but, uhm, I need two more people if only to open that darn door I forgot about. :P

ROFFLE! *pokes DD* Teasing sweetie! We're just teasing you!

*looks at arm* ow, that hurt! Don't poke so hard!

It sounded pretty serious to me... (The problem with the internet is you can never tell seriousness from non-seriousness. Or at least I can't)

I find it with these kind of games it is only fun when you know someone in real that will play with you, but that is just me. :)

To answer your question, World of Warcraft is one of the best MMORPGs I have ever played.  I'm not a huge fan of the monthly fee though.

This is why the free to play model has become so successful. Microtransactions can actually net a developer more money than they think. And you may not even realize you're spending so much money!
