What's your favorite Sierra logo?
1981(?)-1984;
1984-1994:
1994-1998:
1998-2003:
2003-2009: (Sierra final logo)
]
My favorite was the one from KQVI (the green one), because that's what I grew up with. However, I don't see it here. Perhaps I'll screencap it.
1984-1994 All the way!
Dun dun da-dun! *ding[...ding*
Also, 1998-2003's lack of a mountain is shameful. :P
Well I think he just tossed up the blue one as it represents all from that era (its the same graphic just pallete swapped). They came in several assorted colors, gold, blue, green, silver, might have been been a red one out there.
What he is missing is the pre-vga ones though.
He's also missing a few unique ones like the ones seen in the Sierra Discovery Series. There was a unique one in SQ6 as well. There are probably a few other unique or one off versions.
The logo from QFG4 is awesome---It's like a full moon version of the first logo up there. *Goes off to find a pic.

Here's a screen cap I took. Definitely my favorite unique version of the logo.

I know there were many variations, especially on the 94-98 logo, and than you have the 5 (1998-2003) sub-brand logos, but I used the official logos from the various eras of the company. The SQ6, QFG4 and other little variation logos were cool but they weren't official company logos.
I wasn't able to find any pictures of the pre-VGA logos, though I've seen them before.
Thanks for putting up the green one.
not favourite but 1984-1994 one holds the most memories for me ;)
Here is the original KQ1 load screen, 1984, PCJR (where KQ all began). The box as far as I know only has the IBM logo.
I don't know who has noticed but in KQ2, Sierra's logo is hidden cleverly within the starting screen in the background of the beach, making up a hillside. It doesn't appear in the title screen.
EcoQuest original box
The Sierra Discovery Series line version this was the most common style box I think (it would later become the standard official logo for that entire Discovery series, both boxes and in the games);
I think only Castle of Dr. Brain and EcoQuest 1 were originally marketed under the regular Sierra brand (then switched over to the sierra discovery series branding).
Second Shadows of Darkness box when they switched to the new sierra log for it;
SQ6;
Apart from that first one there, those pretty much all look the same to me. Yes, the font for "Sierra" is different, but let's be honest, those logos are 99% the same thing apart from the first version and the 98-03 version.
The '84-'94 is the classic one, of course. I do like the nicer font they used in the late '90's more, but it's still pretty much the same logo, IMO.
Also, bwa, "Softporn"?? :o
Katie my point was to show that the Sierra's printed logo didn't change since KQ1 (rerelease), up to KQ6.
The others show the KQ7/SQ6 era logo. Where they changed the font, and moved up to the top right corner of the Half Dome.
If you want to stick to just the half dome itself, and ignore the font, Sierra really only changed four times really. The Online systems version, the pre-1984/early-1984, "sierra-online version, the Sierra Studios version, then back to the half dome with yet another font. Most of the other eras they kept the basic interlaced Half Dome and just changed the font.
Here is an image of the "online systems" precursor logo;

It's the precursor to the original Leisure Suit Larry. LSL was actually pretty much a remake.
Yeah--I realized that after and edited my post. :P
I like the green 1984-1994 logo! Really nostalgic.

I think the lines coming off of the S are supposed to represent the mountain.
Except it doesn't look anything like Half Dome. Even if you try to squint and tilt your head, lol.
Yeah, but he didn't say Half Dome. He said mountain. ;)
Doesn't look like a mountain to me either, more like an angel wing, with a halo wrapped around it, LOL.
Aw, c'mon. Use your imagination! ;)
The third from the top....the yellow one!!
