Title: Telltale Games "Great Adventure Bundle"
Post by: MangoMercury on September 06, 2010, 10:34:50 AM
Now here's an interesting one.

Telltale Games are hosting a $20 sale of various adventure games (including what appears to be the entirety of the 2006 release of the King's Quest collection), over here (http://www.telltalegames.com/adventurebundle).  25% of the sales proceeds will go to charity and, if enough people purchase said bundle, then they will add even more games into the mix.

Given that the KQ bundle alone can go for $20, I think this is a great offer, and especially for those of you who have struggled getting their old copies to play on their new machines.

This is a phenomenal deal! I may even go for it. Thanks for posting.

I'd go for them if I knew that the KQ games would work on Windows 7 (64 Bit) without too much trouble...  That, and getting the KQ7 issues sorted (like the infamous firecracker issue).

I also got the first six from GOG recently, so not completely rushed, but if I can find a spare $20, I might well do!  If the other games are any cop, that would also make me consider the price.

Telltale's deals never cease to amaze me! I actually have several of their games that I don't know when I'll have time to play but had to buy because it was such a good deal! :D

I noticed that Puzzle Agent is one of the unlockable games for the bundle. I have a friend who played it and highly recommends it. Out of curiosity, has anyone here played it?

I haven't. It looks interesting, though. After three hours, I'm more than halfway done downloading the first game (The Whispered World). :P (And that's with cable internet.) Apparently, the demo alone was 600 MB.

I wouldn't expect that, seeing as the game is in fairly basic-looking 2D - not at all to say that says anything about the quality of the game.

Let me know how you like The Whispered World. I heard a lot of good stuff about it, and am interested in playing it myself.

The 2006 bundle is actually pretty sucky... It uses a very outdated version of dosbox... Doesn't have original KQ1, and it has a fairly broken version of KQ7 windows version (will not work on 64-bit windows). The version of KQ6 is missing the windows version of the game (which is quite worth playing if you ever get teh chance).

Is there any place that offers a Windows version of KQ6? I have the original disc of the Windows version of KQ6, but there's no way I can install it through Windows, so I settled for using DOSBox and had it downgrade to the DOS version.

Actually there are ways to get the classic windows version installed in modern machiners, IIRC. You have to use VDMSound to install the game IIRC.

Apparently the gog 4+5+6 version comes with both dos and windows versions, and installs both. You'll have to use VDM sound to get KQ6 windows version to work though. It apparently won't work in 64 bit windows.

Well you can always try to see if you can get it to work for you... Stranger things have happened...
