Title: episode 2 views
Post by: cygnus on October 02, 2010, 07:58:27 PM
wow what a great episode. everything is great.

good length and puzzles.

it is true to the sierra style - but i kind of like the lucas arts style more where things are logical. e.g. picking up the necklace in the random spot is just weird to me.

also i thought the narrator making the tick tok noise is a bit annoying and it's words are very angry and make me feel dumb. like hey you should know you don't do blah... no i don't know i am trying to solve the game, give me a break.

but i love the game and can't wait for a new ep.

it crashed on me once, also the map for the druid had a bug where it drew the map on the screen but the parts where it said like "a magic bag" were just white rectangles.

There actually is an explanation for the necklace being on the floor.  If you click on the necklace in the inventory I believe it says she must have dropped it the night before while looking at the painting.  The necklace means a lot to Cassima and its sort of a good luck charm for her.

The spraybottle is also in a logical place, notice it is right under the plants, someone left it there after watering them.

The game is a based on a Sierra IP so its only normal that there are homages to that classic game style.  The originals are full of these.  A dagger under a rock in KQ1, a golden ball under a bridge in KQ4.  Most of the object locations are logical in the game but every now and then we like to throw those random things in there complete with classic shine to catch you eye.  Also the necklace was originally somewhere else but we had to move it to fit the episodic format.

We're gonna tone down the Narrator's sarcasm a little.  When you know the puzzles its not so bad but if you're exploring and clicking everywhere we can see how that can get a little tiresome.

We're aware of the bug with the scroll we'll try to fix that for the next episode.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Does that mean it will be back in its original spot in the director's cut?

That specific idea hasn't come up, though I don't think we'd need to move it--again, the placement it's in currently makes sense if you read/hear the description when you look at it on the ground.

Where was it originally going to be??

In a room you'll see in Episode 3--hence it had to be moved, since you couldn't go there until after Episode 2 :)

Does this mean Episode 3 will still take place in The Land of the Green Isles.  :-\  I figured Graham would go back to Daventry to be with his kids, or to Tamir or Kolyma for information on the Black Cloak Society.

Yes... I believe this has been mentioned many times. The Daventry part had to be cut.

Well, the Green Isles is where the attack happened, so it's the most likely place for clues, scene of the crime and all that. Graham's definitely not done investigating there yet. :)

(AKA, yes, the game mostly takes place in the Green Isles)

Yeah - we (well, you :suffer:) haven't had a chance to explore the Isle of the Beast, the Isle of Mist, or the Isle of the Sacred Mountain yet!

I see. I'm a little bit disappointed, but I'm hoping for new unseen locations on the Islands an in Alexander and Rosella's dreams.

This is true. :) Plus, at some point, Graham has to travel into Alexander and Rosella's dreams - the Arch Druid said so! (Well, that or we leave them in a coma forever. :suffer:)

And we've added a lot of new things to the green isles, too. :)
