Post by: waltzdancing on October 11, 2010, 01:41:16 PM
Continuing with meeting the mods...

Forum Name: waltzdancing
Goes by: Waltz, waltzdancing
Real Name: Adrienne Elliott

General Interests:
I love astronomy and am always outside with my telescopes looking at anything I can find. Anything with Astronomy, I'm always doing it. I enjoy cooking and many recipes I find I modify to fit what I like. I'm a computer geek and last year I rebuilt an old windows ME computer to play old games. I am an outdoor person and if I could choose between, cleaning the house or mowing the lawn, I'd be mowing the lawn. I'm also an avid movie collector.

I'm a large gamer, hence the rebuilding of an old computer. My first introduction to a computer was sitting for hours watching a screensaver of the crocodile chasing Captain Hook. Soon, my dad brought home Day of the Tentacle and I was hooked for life.  I first played Kings Quest when I was 7 and it was the 7th one. Currently, while working on TSL, my sister and I are playing Lord of the Rings: Return of the King together and losing all the time.

I don't have much time for anything else as I am a full time student at the local university where I live. My major is elementary education with an emphasis on science. I will graduate next year and hope to work in a place where good teacher are needed and hope to inspire students to achieve greatness.

Kings Quest:
My first encounter with Kings Quest was when I was 7 and my parents played through if first to make sure it was safe for us to play. I later played the 5th one but it wasn't until I was 11 when I finally was able to see the entire story of the beloved royal family. My sister received the entire collection for her birthday including Mask. We devoured them quickly but the 8th one took us YEARS. I finally finished it when I was 16 and was disappointed that it was so different. It never crossed my mind to look of a 9th one until a long time later.

I first found TSL back in 2008 in just a simple Google search. I didn't join the forum until months later but didn't post anything because I was too shy. TSL has really allowed me to open up and be myself around people who are scattered all over the world. It is a really cool feeling to say, "Yeah, I have a friend in such a place." I also co-founded Save TSL along with Oberonqa, Cray, and Atec.

Fun/ Interesting Facts:
I live in the Southwest but don't speak any other languages than English. I still live at home with my parents and have a younger sister and two younger brothers. I don't have many friends, beside those at work and you all here. I have two paying jobs to help with my tuition and then TSL. I have been told many times that I have no life, and I am okay with that.

I am a huge Sci-fi geek and watch a lot of British Television. I love animals, any kind of animal. I have currently two dogs, Annie and Shaggy, and 19 chickens; all with names and are my pets. I am a sports fanatic and played Basketball for three years before becoming too old to play with the other girls. The coach kept me on and helped to motivate them during games. Sunday is usually a dead day for me as I am vegging in front of the television with my dad watching football. He gets to pick the games we watch, he knows the good match ups. I'm a Jet's fan and always have to correct how the announcers say his name, because they do pronounce it incorrectly. I use to watch the Cardinals but since Warner is gone, I have moved on.

I never thought I would be working on King's Quest game, and this has been a dream come true and am truly honored to work on such a large project. I have gained so much experience over these past few months and have learned so much about how a game is made. When I sit down at any game now, I have a new appreciation to the work they do. The team has brought a new determination out in me and has encouraged me when I had to do something I never did before. Currently I am doing PR and HR work for TSL as well as beta testing.

Forgot to show you some pictures of me  :P

Thanks for sharing, Adrienne! It's nice to learn more about you. Speaking of Oberonqa, where has he been lately? He seems to have disappeared.

I don't know. He hasn't answered any of my emails.

To my knowledge, Oberonqa has left the team. He sent a message to the team members announcing his departure, and I recall him mentioning not to expect seeing him on the forums much. That's about all I know though. He was a good team member and it's a shame he hasn't stuck around on the forums for a while. In any case, it's nice to finally learn more about you, waltzdancing! You and I appear to have a lot in common... But the forum will have to wait for my meet the mods segment to find out in what regards...

GAAAAAH!  What is this travesty?!  You're not Waltz, you're waltz.  Get it right. ;)

What an interesting read!  I love that you have 19 chickens and a name for all of them, that's adorable. :D  Love ya, kid, and I'm so glad you're here!

Yay!  Someone else from the Southwest who loves stargazing, sci-fi, British TV and animals!  Thanks for letting us know more about you.

I'm tempted to ask to see a picture of your chickens.

It's amusing how this thread has been hijacked into discussion of chickens and snakes. ;D

You can ask anything you want here, but I HATE snakes, ick.

Okay here are their names and some of the pictures I can find off the bat.

2 roosters named Speckles (he is the big brown one) Major Healey (he is the little one and is full grown)

Aurora,Cinderella,Ariel,Giselle,Lina,Molly,Edita,Tamara,Fallon,Lucy,Jeanie,Ethel,and Bandit.

My hen hatched three eggs this summer as well and they were named:
Lucky (who was trapped in the egg and would have died in the shell if I didn't help hatch her)
Lilly
Lisa or Lewis (I think this one might be a boy, still have to wait 2 more months to find out)

*Forgot one* Anya

I'll upload some pictures when I get them off the camera (Need to buy and new transfer cord)

How on earth do you tell all of those chickens apart?

Wow I'm lucky if I can name both my kids and my dog and keep things straight, that's pretty impressive.  Very very cool!

All the chickens look different and have distinct personalities. I have raised them all since they were little so telling them apart is easy. Once I get the pictures up you will see what I mean.

Adorable. I'm also jealous that you have dogs, I want a corgi soooo badly.

My next master plan is to get a horse sometime.  ;D . The chickens have those names because my mother can also remember them. I use to have a Maleficent, Belle, Snow White but a stupid Raccoon got them.  :'(. To keep him away from the rest of them I put our marshmallows with Habenero hot sauce in the center. (That is the hottest chile in the southwest. He's never come back.

Here are my two dogs. The red one is Annie and the little one is Shaggy. He was abandoned by my horrible neighbors so I took him.  ;) These are a few of my chickens. One the right side is the big rooster, Speckles. Next to him are his sisters (Right to left) Tamara, Anya and bandit.

I'll never forget your hatching day now! Tiger Lilly was born about a week later, which was unusual, all chicks are suppose to hatch at the same time. She is climbing on her mother about a week after she hatched, the others are two weeks by now.

They're all so cute!  I don't understand how anyone could abandon anyone as cute as Shaggy.  And all of your chickens have really lovely patterns.

Out of curiosity, what do you with the unfertilized eggs?

I really want a duck but my dad says no.  :( He says they would eat his toes. (They tried once when he was a kid on a farm.) I take care of some geese down the street sometimes, those guys are mean.

Truth. I know someone who had a pet duck that loved trying to eat people's toes. Hers, her family's, her friends', mine...it didn't matter.

Funny story...

Once upon a time my dad took my brother and sister fishing when they were five and six.  This male goose comes over and starts hassling them in the boat, and my dad was getting frustrated because he was scaring all the fish away.  He takes his pole and kind of nudges the goose away, and the little sh*t grabs the pole in his beak and snaps it in half!  My dad got so pissed he grabbed the goose by the neck and flung him as far from the boat as he could (no, the goose was not hurt. :))  Later on, my mom and I went down to the lake to say hi, and that same gander comes over and starts hassling us!  My dad walked over and the goose honked at him (cussing him out, I'm sure), and it waddled away with its proverbial tail between its legs.

Swans are scarier though. No way you'd ever be able to grab a swan by the neck -- it'd eat your hands.
