Title: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: Arkillian on November 17, 2010, 03:11:06 PM
Hey guys! I'm a newbie in this forum, but I am an artist/writer/comic maker, and I have enough art to start my own thread. I'll see how much fanart of King's Quest I make to how often it gets updated.

IF you're interested in my other art, I am on Deviantart (http://arkillian.deviantart.com/), Paperdemon (http://arkillian.paperdemon.com/), Fur Affinity (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/arkillian/), Y! gallery (Ask if you want the link- this site may close down  :( ), and a few others

Anyways, for the stuff you're more interested in. Ordered in age so my current stuff is at the top :)

Bed time stories- A commission for Writerlove. She wanted a picture of Alex and Cassima being romantic with mild nudity allowed. With this picture, I'm picking that bookworm Alexander would tell stories to Cassima- some made up (although his IRL stories are probably far more interesting) and some not. I thought it was a lovely picture in my head so I drew that. It's meant to mimic the pose in Tear Drop cause I wanted to make a happier version of it. It's a pretty sad picture that one.

The sister that cried wolf- A gift for Waltzdancing :) Rosella trying to hook Alexander up with one of her friends by getting him to play the white knight. He just wants to read his book in the sun though  :-[ Not today!

Nap time in Daventry- a commission/request from Haids of Graham havign a nap with the twins in his arms. I put an understanding Valanice in there cause it seemed like a perfect family moment before Alexander was horribly captured and enslaved for 15 years...

Rosella the gravedigger! I was sad that TSL wasn't going to have Rosella in a ball gown so I drew this in copics. Rosella doing her favourite hobby in her ball dress!

There are nails sir... NAILS! Lieutenant Shorty. Cause she's awesome :)

The Ranger- because he's cool and I missed him not being in Episode 3 D: WHO IS HE?!?

'Tear Drop'- inspired by Chopin's Prelude No15 'Raindrop, this picture is of Queen Cassima and King Alexander while he is in a coma, waiting for King Graham to return from his quest.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v734/arkillian/thumb-5.jpg) (http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/364/1/5/wounds_of_a_forlorn_king_by_arkillian-d3602q2.jpg)
A TSL specific fanart- This contains nudity- just the buttocks though so it's not major.
This comic page was inspired by the scene where Graham talks to Edgar about his time with Lolotte, and Edgar talks about meeting Alexander at the beach while he was bathing. Click image for full view
<edit> Uh- the scene said he was shirtless not naked. My bad. Blame it on inner fangirl XD </edit>

A work in progress of the Royal family in TSL and the tragedy of the twins falling in a coma. Following is the sketch

The sketch of the above

A copic marker picture of Prince Alexander wearing a crown.

The fan favourite- Price Alexander and Rosella. This is a bit of an old picture now (6 years old), but I still like it :)

All comments are appreciated. Would rather not have critique on this art however. Ta :)

((And yes- I am an Alexander fangirl ;) Expect to see him feature in alot of my art  ;D ))

Wow, this is amazing work. Too bad you started following the project so recently, otherwise, you could have been a valuable concept artist, I think.

Thanks Doon :) I've been around since (One of?) the first beta of TSL, back when it was called 'Kings Quest (9)- The Silver Lining', but there were the red tape battles and production stopped. When there was no posts on the DA site, I gave up on the game and moved on thinking 'At least they weren't too far into the game'. IT was VERY buggy back then- nothing like it is now. All polished an pretty :) All you had was that scene after the wedding where Graham talks to Edgar's parents. You could go up the stairs and that was about it. I've improved alot in art since then though- I could only draw a few poses reliably. I'm alot more dynamic and consistent now, so it's probably for best. I wasn't ANY where near as good as the concept artists we have now (I'm still behind quite a bit even now >.> ), but thank you for the compliment :) I'd much rather be a supporter anyway. I've recently had my artistic ego severely bruised by a so called friend of mine, and I'm still recovering from it >.> I don't know how I'd be having my art in a game if I didn't know it was the best I could do. I'm a perfectionist ^^;

I'm very happy that TSL has continued on- there was talk of changing all the characters names and I was very down hearted about that. I'm glad it was able to continue on- the output I'm seeing is well worth the effort :)

It's cool- I didn't really join the forum till a day or so ago so I may as well be new XD I missed out on all the fun of waiting for episode 1 and 2 :-\ I've been replaying all the King's Quest games recently thoguh cause first time around I didn't get to play 1 or 2- I'm yet to play 7, but I JUST today received a legit copy of all the games (It's so hard to find in NZ now O.o ) so I'll be onto KQ7 very soon! Little upset that it doesn't have the most up to date versions of the game on it though >.> Oh well. It's not like I'm not use to the older versions anyways.

Oh- and if you're curious- This isn't my own art, but a meme on Deviantart which has King's Quest in it! It's my influence map :3

You know, it always surprises me how many people ACTUALLY know my art before I meet them O.O That's fandoms though I guess. If it was Naruto or some more blitzed fandom though I guess it'd be different ^^; Not alot of people draw KQ fanart...

I bought my parents the entire Get Smart series on DVD. Hopefully, they'll let me borrow it sometime! :D (Of course, who knows when I would have time to watch it. :( )

Get Smart is 1970s crack. Seriously. When you start watching it, you'll MAKE time to keep going. There's only a couple of episodes that aren't top knotch. Those episodes I didn't like cause
the hooked Max up with some girls while 99 was pregnant for BOTH and I was like "OMG you guys- that's so low  :furious:"
<- Spoiler for season... 5 or 6? XD

An update of the picture. Been busy with a major drawing gathering last weekend and my brother getting appendictus. That was pretty upsetting and it all zeroed out my energy pool. Need a few early nights T.T

Anyways- some faces done

Done some more progress. Feel free to comment if you wish :)

Is it me or is there no out of game reference art out there of TSL? O.o It's difficult to find the costumes of these guys from the wedding. I had to take screen shots from the game for most of it >.<

There used to be tons of concept art and renders on the old site, but it's all gone now. I saved almost all of it, so if you have any requests, I'd attempt to oblige.

All of it. The DA site still has some (http://www.thesilverlining.deviantart.com/), but not these outfits, and it's old renders (omg Alexander looks SO old in one shot O.O ) can you photobucket it or something easy for you? King Graham is currently the one I need. There's little to nothing on his King outfit >.>  The rest I seem to have played make do with Oh, and Edgar.

I'll upload a big archive after Thanksgiving when I have a bit more time (almost 4AM here). These two pieces of concept art should help until then.

Arkillian--if you go to the Fan Club (where you go to DL the episodes) and check out the Sketch Art section, there's a download of sketch & concept art for Graham & one for Valanice. Those may help you out :)

Looks nice!

This is true- I forgot about it since only Graham and Valanice were the only ones there cause there wasn't references of anyone else :( Will more concept art go up? I love looking at concept art and the development stages of characters :)

Hi Arkillian,

Nice work--you've got some incredible pencil crayon work on your DA page! I love the influence map. I think I may have to make one myself! (It would probably also have The Labyrinth on there somewhere...) It makes me super happy that Get Smart is on there. My Dad and I loved to watch that show together in the past.

(Oh, and thank you for the comment on my Young Valance picture--I didn't check the forums for a while and didn't see the reply until it was kind of late to say thanks.)

Oh- hai! Uh... Thank you for the links Kindofdoon. I'm working on Graham now, but I came across a 'fatal error' art wise when I realized I coloured over an area I needed white for his hands T.T Gotta figure out what to do with that :(

Thank you ^^ Yeah- I got the whole series of Get Smart on DVD as a whim cause I'd seen a few episodes and loved them. Get Smart the movie was about to come out so I got them on special, and realized how timeless the humour is ^^ It was really easy to see the cameos as nod to in the movie after watching the series :) I actually want to write an RP based off Get Smart. I reckon they'd translate perfectly into a Spirit of the Century campaign ^^

Your Valanice picture was lovely :) I'm just about finished KQ7 now (now that I got past the firecracker bug T.T I can't believe I had to RETARD my computer to play a windows game >.> ) so I can appreciate the fanart more now. I was gonna enter the comp too, but maybe next time >.> I've been having health / energy issues lately T.T My influences aren't limited to the meme either XD I ran out of room for more XD Lol.

Thanks for the comments :)

Cool. The movie was actually pretty cool for references. The first time I watched it I felt like it was too different from the series, but the second time when I really thought about it, it was a great movie in itself, and the multitude of references showed that the creators were really thinking about the show's history.

I looked at the movie as a modern version of it. I mean, you'll never replicate the feel of the 1960s Get Smart ever cause you don't have the same actors and modern humour is different. Doesn't mean it bad, but our humour now is less polite. Our technolgy is better now too, and to do Get Smart justice, it has to be an original plot too. To me, I think they picked the perfect actors for the job, and the movie just has so much in it that I'd call it a modern version :) It's hard to directly compare the old and the new.

KQ7 to me was a mixed game. There was alot of stuff I didn't like, and alot I did. I think that if I played it when it came out I would've been more tolerance of the game cause it would've been paced correctly (no bugs based on having a duo core computer >.> ) I would've liked it more, and if Seirra published the game PROPERLY for windows XP it's like it more, but the collected game of KQ1 to 7 was really cheaply put together and it put a strain on game play to me >.> I did enjoy it in the end though. It had some challenging puzzles in it O.O Much more difficult than KQ6! KQ6 is still my (TOTALLY unbias- NOT XD ) favorite in the series though. I think maybe KQ7 is a reluctant second since finishing it :) I see alot of all the games in TSL now that I've played them all :) IT's pretty cool. Like watching the modern Get Smart movie XD

Yeah, I hope there's a new comp soon. Like... in the new year. I'd enter that :)

Yeah, the humour probably wouldn't translate, and I think a lot of people wouldn't like the sense of humour of the old one--it only really works in its 1960s context, though of course as a fan I think it's quite clever. (I think it also reminds me of my Dad's sense of humour.) Steve Carell was definitely the perfect man for the job. The 99 character is quite different, but I think they had to do something to change her to make her up-to-date--I'm not sure if the old 99 would be acceptable to the contemporary feminist!

I can understand that KQ7 was a mixed bag. Since I played it when I was a preteen girl when it first came out, I could get the full "wow" factor out of it, but now I can see the irksome qualities of it more easily. I still love the art, which possibly stems from loving Disney art as well! One thing I would love to see is the opening animation redone with modern 2D techniques. It would probably look amazing!

Anne Hathaway played 99- apparently they wanted an older woman, but she turned up and the two of them clicked apparently.  I love the slapstick relationship those two had. My parents are a bit iffy about it, but I think it's cause they're so use to the old school humour. I enjoy both, and I don't think Get Smart is outdated. I know ALOT of people that love it still, but the technology in it is no longer relevant to the modern generation. Like King's Quest 1 etc... the modern kid would look at the VGA pixel art and go 'But it's not 3D render', but they still have fun playing it. That kind of stuff doesn't go out of fashion because it's timeless. A game that is popular cause it came out when another popular thing came out like the Harry Potter games aren't timeless. In another 20 years time, they'll still be selling the books. They WONT be selling the PC game- I guarranty you. that.

That would be so wonderful! It looks so cramped in that tiny box that they were forced to use for Windows 3.1 and DOS; if it could be completely redrawn at a proper resolution it would be incredible! :)

The legacy of VGA :) If the whole thing was redone, KQ7 would've been very beautiful. Heck- 2 years after KQ7, Broken Sword came out- that had stunning graphics in my eyes. I think that may have been SVGA thoguh. If so, that'd be why it was so pretty
(http://www.gonein60fps.net/images/brokensword1_screenshot_640x480_01.jpg)
Waiting a little while would've done it wonders, but I guess you never know where technology will take you. VGA was SO limiting. Specially on the Disney line art it used. They really needed the extra resolution to crispen the lines. IT's a shame.

<edit>Just checked. It IS SVGA. That's why they could do so much more. 640x480 to 800x600 makes a BIG difference on our modern monitors *nods* </edit>

Ah, that explains it! I had wondered why they bothered to try and explain it away by saying she'd had plastic surgery to make her look younger.

That kind of stuff doesn't go out of fashion because it's timeless. A game that is popular cause it came out when another popular thing came out like the Harry Potter games aren't timeless. In another 20 years time, they'll still be selling the books. They WONT be selling the PC game- I guarranty you. that.

I agree with you on HP. We had a HP2 game for Playstation, and we didn't even get very far into it because it wasn't very good.

If I had kids, I would trick them into giving old games a try by getting them to play before they were old enough to care. Bwahahaha! Although a little kid might have a super hard time with KQ... Maybe get them started the way I did, first with KQ7 with the easiest interface, then KQ5 & 6... By then they'd be dying to play the originals! ;D

That would be so wonderful! It looks so cramped in that tiny box that they were forced to use for Windows 3.1 and DOS; if it could be completely redrawn at a proper resolution it would be incredible!

Yeah, did it even full screen? I can't remember.

I agree with Arkillian that 800x600 would have made a huge difference. Too bad. But if games waited for technology, they'd never be made, I suppose.

Well, it depends on your resolution. If you had a resolution that was the same as the game's default "large" resolution and had the option set to Full Size, then yes, it would fill the whole screen. But the larger your resolution gets the smaller the video looks in comparison.

I got my little charge into kings quest by showing her KQ7. She's a total princess fan and Rosella is her favorite thing to draw now. It has that cartoon feeling about it that traps kids. We did KQ6 for a bit but it was to hard for her. She loves TSL because of the music and has a crush on Alexander. (So much competition on him, poor guy). The first two chapters have been manageable for her, I'm not sure about Episode 3,yet.  :suffer:

We have recently started back on the KQ1 remake, the different voices help her and the typing isn't an issue anymore. Kids today hate typing.

XD I learned to type from the adventure games (and using DOS) before HS, but then I had to relearn how to type in HS. (I didn't peck at the keys (which is how our history teacher typed) and there was a method to my madness... unfortunately said method seemed to involve being able to type a rather select vocabulary quickly: cd/games/sierra, kq#, look, get, talk, talk to, and the names of common inventory items ;P)

Lol!
I learned typing from King's Quest, from text adventures and from using the command line on our old DOS machine. My mom tried to teach me how to type properly, but I never could get the hang of it. I kept wondering why I had to type the "right way" when my way was just as good.

I didn't learn to type using adventure games, as the oldest King's Quest games came into my life a few years after we got a computer. No, I learned how to type from a super-old DOS typing programme called Typing Tutor, which my Dad's friend gave to us. I still remember the bright blue background. It would probably be super boring now, but at the time we didn't have many computer games and so that was actually one of the "games" I played on our computer.

Never played the typing KQ games until a few years ago, so didn't learn to type on those. Played a lot of Mavis Beacon as a kid though.

What I didn't like about the old KQ1-4 games was that you had to be SPECIFIC about how you typed it too, or you were screwed. I like the KQ5/6 set up with the icons for walking, looking and touching. I'm VERY glad TSL has it too.

Was it just me though, ore was KQ7 hard to play cause you couldn't tell where the scenery went off to another screen? I had to find walkthroughs to get past certain areas cause I didn't know a certain area extended further. It was really annoying :/ It was obvious that a screen paned on in the other games >.>

Hey- how are people with more mature art here? Like nudity? I... fangirled a little with the scene where Edgar talks about Alexander bathing in the beach and drew a comic page of it to see how it'd turn out. Obviously Alexander is naked, but there isn't any genitalia in it- just rear end nudity.

People cool with that? I'll make it a link instead so people can chose not to look at it if they don't want to.

HAH! Omg- I just realized that the scene was him shirtless. Oh well XD He's naked now. I can't be assed giving something on the bottom. The picture would look stupid with it. It's a nicer scene like this.

Anyways- it's that scene from when Graham talks to Edgar about his time being 'enslaved' by Lolotte, and how he digresses the conversation to seeing Alexander on the beach swimming, and his wounds.

Picture contains nudity- a naked back and bottom. Please click on the image for full view

I'm not sure if Deviant art will allow people without an account to look at this. If you can't see it, please tell me and I'll link off another site as this image isn't that 'mature' as far as I'm concerned.

I think it matters if you put the full filter on it. I only put a warning filter on it. If DA wasn't so picky, I would've left it cause to me, it's tasteful enough to not need one, but hey- people get offended >.> I wasn't sure if I'd have issues with it being a half filter. Well the original image was done (specifically) with copic multiliners (http://www.mccallisters.com/images/copic_setmultiliner041949.jpg) cause they're the pen I've found that I like to draw with the most, and bristol board. I then scan it into photoshop, clean up the noise that the scanner introduces, turn it into black and white with 'threshold', then chuck it into Manga Studio and spend far too long screen toning it (Cause I'm still new at it T.T ). then I bring it back to Photoshop and turn it into a greyscale image, cause Illustrator gets all uptight about black and white images, and put the speech bubbles on with Illustrator (a vector program). I find I have the most control of the bubbles and test with this program for doing non standard stuff like 'Drakobitus' in this page (http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs30/f/2008/057/2/6/Final_Sunset_Page_25_by_Arkillian.jpg). I also find it faster in Illustrator cause I've had to learn how to use it due to not having Manga Studio since day one. I forced myself to learn vectors though so it's all good :)

Well, not sound files, just text. But anyway:
GRAHAM: I know it is somehow imprudent, but... can you tell me about Alexander? I'm talking about the way he is, as a man, as a husband, as a king.
CASSIMA: I sometimes forget you probably know him less than I do. It's such a shame, really, that he didn't get to grow up with his family.
GRAHAM: I'm sure he wouldn't be the man he is now.
CASSIMA: Every cloud has a silver lining. Isn't that what they say?
GRAHAM: Yes, Cassima. My point exactly.
CASSIMA: Still, maybe not all is that good...
GRAHAM: What do you mean?
CASSIMA: Alexander has issues. Things he won't trust anybody with.
GRAHAM: That's understandable. He grew up as a slave.
CASSIMA: He doesn't talk too much. He's a good king, but when it comes to personal issues, he won't talk about them. It frustrates me at times, because I want to help him through it, but I can't.
GRAHAM: Perhaps you should try to be a little more understanding of what he's been through.
CASSIMA: No, don't get me wrong. I understand very well. I know what it is like being dragged away from your family and forced to become someone else's slave. I still wake up at night, sweating... scared... and it was just a couple of years. I can't begin to imagine how it was for him... a whole life... You know, your majesty... I love your son so much...
GRAHAM: I know you do, my child, I know you do.

GRAHAM: What does he like to do?
CASSIMA: He enjoys his time by my side, but sometimes, he just likes to be on his own.
GRAHAM: You can't blame him. He's not used to being around people.
CASSIMA: He's gotten better. The first weeks, I'd be lucky if he stayed in a town meeting for more than an hour. Now, he even enjoys the company of others. But still, there's a dark shadow, almost like a living pain surfacing in his eyes.
GRAHAM: All you can do is be by his side.
CASSIMA: That's what I do. He's learned to come to me, and I'll keep silent while he cries on my shoulder, like a scared child.
GRAHAM: He must have terrible demons inside.
CASSIMA: It's really heartbreaking. He just holds me tight, as if not wanting to let go (Cassima voice breaks).
You should do a romantic Alex and Cassima portrait...maybe him holding her, or her consoling him after a nightmare.  Ooooh, I'm swooning just thinking about it...:sweetheart:

I'd like it better if it meant something more, like Graham's love at first sight was a little too epic to be believable, but as you said, it's fantasy. To me though, love at first sight applies to people that have MET the person they've fallen for. I guess though that the magic mirror works in mysterious ways :(

Yours would rock, though, because it would be an Arkillian original. :)  Plus they could wear different clothes (or pajamas, whatev ;)) and they wouldn't have to be kissing.  I'd be excited to see what it would look like!

Don't tempt me- I'd put Cassima in lingerie and Alexander in a thong XD

Lol- no really, I'll put them in whatever I think suited the picture the best, but it may be something more sexy than PJs- do people want to see that? Or would people rather see more PG13 stuff?

Thank you hon ^^ It's nice to know that there are others that support my vision :) It's difficult to find inspiration to draw when you think that others will disapprove. That stopped me from drawing for a whole year that fear. It's something that all artists go through a bazillion times in their career though >.>

Nar- don't worry about it. I've had far too many of them in the past to be away from art for long :) It's something you get like... every 6 months or something. People will stop commenting and you start to doubt yourself. I try not to draw for my audience- that's how I get through it. It's nice to take requests though. People can get snarky though if your art gets stale or repetitive >.> One particular guy got really snarky about it 6 months back and stopped watching me on DA. It upset me alot cause the two of us were best friends. I come to the conclusion though that it doesn't matter what he thinks. It's a difficult thing to accept. Specially since my parents have only recently (in the last year) accepted art as something I'm good at and REALLY enjoy >.> I think that if I 'stopped' art, me stopping art would just be me hiding from the net and doodling forever. I give free supportive crit for any new artist cause I know how hard it is to step into art. There SO many talented artists out there. I'm humbled every day on DA with some people's talents. They need to learn that with practice and passion, their art will eventually be beautiful too, but it'll never be the same, which is why you can't compare your art to others.

Now if that aint art zen then I donno what is ;) IT's true though. People fight to compare my art to someone else, and once you have your own style, it happens to others too.

HAH! The mirror is a pimp! XD I love eet ^^

I came up with a lineart for the pic. IT's not a... happy romantic picture. I was listening to Chopin's Prelude No 15 as I drew it which is a bit of a sad song so it turned out sad.

I'm not sure how to finish it though. I'm considering having Cassima crying onto Alexander to tie into the song (It's called Raindrop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcIMvliWM2I)- it's a pretty song :) ). It's basically a scene where Graham is off adventuring while everyone else is left behind waiting.

So yeah- no Alexander in a thong! Sorry to disappoint

Yeah- it's not finished cause it's not properly shaded ^^; Yes, Alexander is comaed out in this one. The final will have Cassima crying- probably onto Alexander. The song I went off was a bit of a sad one. To me, this is the dedication of his love for him. A more powerful image in my eyes.

The full discription (without credits) is:- "Wow- I'm doing a HECK of alot of King's Quest fanart at the moment O.O

Anyways, not an 'official' scene in The Silver Lining, but on the Phoenix Online forums, it was requested a picture of these two in a romantic scene, and although it's not happy romantic, his is actually a scene that could've happened in the game.

So the scene is that King Alexander (Urgh- so use to calling him Prince :/ ) has fallen comatose to dark magic, leaving his wife, Queen Cassima there, waiting for Alexander's father to unlock him and his sister from their coma. This picture was inspired by Chopin's Prelude No 15- Raindrop [link] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcIMvliWM2I) It's a beautiful, but haunting piano tune that fit the mood of the scene really nicely. I think in the final I may have her crying onto his eyes like rain drops, but I'm still deciding.

Posted a mildly coloured piece as I don't even know how I'm gonna finish colouring it yet :/ "

I had actually considered doing a pregnant Cassima one, but it didn't really fit the request. I assume it'll be post TSL though so that Alexander has woken since she's not pregnant in the game (Oh man- that would've made some WONDERFUL drama though O.O ) I may not be fast, but I'll see what inspiration hits me :)

Can't vouch for KQ8 as I haven't played it, but they're not featured in KQ7. It's not unheard of that it could've happened though. I'd feel pretty bad for Alexander though, cause a TRUCK tone of crap happens to him between his 18th and 21st birthday O.o As soon as he finds his family, his father becomes lethally sick, a year later they're kidnapped again, a month later lets say he chases after love at first sight, I assume Rosella doesn't girl out DURING Alexander's trip cause I assume Valanice would be worried for her son (also, the wedding doesn't include Edgar), donno when KQ8 happens, but that a hell of alot of life s*** to hit the fan in 4 years :( I'd say that after TSL, Alexander's probably going to be 'Well, what's worse than the Black cloak society. I can take them on with my new magic powers' and just bite the bullet XD

Uh- it's not porn ^^; I think you have the wrong definition of porn there hon. The picture wasn't meant to be  explicit in any way (Nor in a boy love for that matter). It was meant to be a tasteful nude from a scene in the game that panned out in this exact way. I linked it as a thumbnail as sometimes a scene with a naked guy with another guy can make people uncomfortable (It's easy to think it'll turn into into a boylove picture nowdays with all the shounen ai out there- Admittedly, I am a fan of the genre, but it wasn't my intention here). I didn't realize till after I posted it that the scene in the game was meant to be shirtless only ^^; I still like it better this way cause putting something on the bottom half A- doesn't make sense (he'll wet his clothes! what'll he change into?) and B- Doesn't look aesthetic cause the pants would break the flow of the picture. Admittedly, all my art has Alexander in it somewhere, but I'm a fangirl of his- we knew this already, right? :) I'm sorry if it shocked you. I tried to put as much warning on it as I could so people knew what to expect from the picture. The naked body to me in art is an aesthetic so perhaps I look at things differently to my viewers. It's all those life drawing classes XD

Hah- anime style... That's the first time someone has directly called it that! Thank you :) My art style I guess is heavily influenced by anime, but sadly the anime community don't believe so >.> I like to think of mine as a hybrid of Eastern and Western. The fact that I'm closer to Western is more apparent when I use pencil like in this picture of Sweeney Todd (http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/195/b/b/Sweeney_Todd_by_Arkillian.jpg). My comic style gives away my love for manga more XD

I use to draw like Akira Toriyama (artist of DBZ) for a long while- I blame it on that XD

Hmmm... Long response is long...

Thanks :) I need to decide on a background though T.T I'm thinking yellow. Everything else seems too dark for the picture >.>

Lol...yeah I realize that the pic isn't pornographic per se--but there is something undeniably homoerotic in the way that Alex looks back at Edgar and Edgar acts all breathless.  Alex's come-hither glance seems like the prelude to a steamy night of sexual experimentation that breaks all of Daventry's most traditional rules...

Haha...in all seriousness though, I wasn't offended.  Just amused.

Um... I think I get it.... the come hither wasn't directed at Edgar....  ;) *giggles* (Sorry- got carried away with my inner fangirl. It's too easy to romanticize a picture of a character that you've had a crush on since you were 10 XD )

Oh, uh... Here's my gallery on Deviantart for those that want to see non King's Quest art too (http://www.arkillian.deviantart.com/). I can not guaranty you wont see more provocative nudity or boy love there, but it has all my art, and most of it is PG13 :) If you have mature art off, you'll miss a few REALLY nice pieces of art, but it'll be mostly eye friendly if you find you get offended easily.

Actually, this isn't the first time someone has said one of my artworks was too homo erotic. This page of my comic has alot of controversy cause of that too (http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs46/f/2009/193/b/b/Phoenix_Wright_fic_teaser_Pg16_by_Arkillian.jpg). Alot of people pause on this page and actually read it XD (Can't complain about that. Damn skimmers not reading mah content >.< )

What's so homoerotic about it?  It's just a guy crying over Diego.  Real men cry!

The original had the fore arm at the bottom too, and apparently that made all the men uncomfortable >.> I ended up taking the arm away and people accepted it better, but it still gets a triple look so people can grab the context. The casual observer could think the same thing of this picture as the page I did there on Alexander.

It's mostly glossy art that it eats like pencil renders cause of the reflection. It's not too bad on colour if you have a calibrated screen and know colour hues in Photoshop. I've still got to tinker it when my computer gets back :/ It's different on every screen I look at it on. It's too vivid on this one here at work... Graphite pictures ALWAYS turn out bad though cause scanners eat subtle colours T.T

I commissioned my friend Jadedsilk cause she's going through money problems. I wouldn't offer commissioned art to someone for an e-card without their permission. That's kinda... copyright infringement- even though neither of us own the characters. And um... I'm not sure if it's clear here- I commissioned Jadedsilk, so I didn't draw it. Incase that wasn't clear.

Perhaps have the Boogeyman jumping about, or a sulking Edgar wondering why she's digging up archaic artifacts from the ground and making her keep them (Most girls buy new stuff for that XD )

Thank you :) Sorry I haven't finished it yet- I'm currently on day 3 of being bed ridden from my back having what my chiropractor calls a threatening disc herniation. Essentially, a bit of one of my discs is bulging out and it hurts to walk, so I can't sit down and draw cause it's the same pressure.

You... ask a tough question there. Every picture is different. Depends on if I get inspired, or if I have a clue how to finish it. Also how complex the picture is, how much research I need to do, if I'm use to the medium, know the character... It's tough to tell. Usually a few hours to 6. This one I think has taken a few hours- maybe 3. I lose track of time when I'm drawing :( I could tell you about how long a  picture took. Not before I drew it though

Awww don't feel sorry for that at all! Take care of yourself first! :) I hope your back gets better soon. I'm sure it hurts a lot. My mother had back surgery a few years ago and she was in horrible pain before then.

Ah, it's like writing, just on a visual level. I get in different moods. Sometimes stories are easy to write and ideas flow right out. Then others its a little more difficult.

It's all good- it's getting better fast apparently :) I had to take 3.5 days off work though... I managed to watch season 3 and 4 of House over that period of time >.< I'm going to be analyses everything medically for a MONTH now. I've already had several House dreams XD My biggest issue was that having the bad back would make me have to cancel my surgery on Monday. Apparently I'll be fine by then :) That's all that worries me <3

All arts are similar on that level. I compare drawing to Martial arts. You learn the basics through hours of practice and dedication, then when you learn the advanced stuff, it's easier. When you're trained well, art flows like water. IT's thoughtless- just instinct. Your brain doesn't even have to think- it knows what it wants and just DOES. All Martial arts practices can be applied to any art. That's why they call it martial arts after all :)

We'll see how this background goes. So far, it seems good though :) Despite the gloves... I don't think I can fix those without it being obvious or using a different medium :(

The two are characters from the novel I'm writing (but is currently on hold due to life getting in the way >.< This will hopefully get better when I move out >.< ). When it's done, the guy on the left (Alex- not named after Alexander) will have firey dragon wings, and the girl (Athena) will have angel wings. I cropped all the unfinished stuff out so it was easier to see. Click the image for the full thing.

Thanks hon :) It's ok- I understand that sometimes people don't know what to say. It is off topic though, so I thought perhaps it's just better if I made a banner and link to my DeviantArt account instead >.> I donno- do people actually want to see the odd non TSL/KQ art from me if it's good? I just don't want my thread to die away in between pictures cause I do love to talk about art :) I know that sounds selfish, but I don't mean it in an ego stroking way (Anyone that knows me knows I have no ego)- I wasn't sure if people were interested in other things I did... I'm into a few fandoms, and have alot of original characters. I like doing projects like TSL. I'm not involved with this game, but given budget and friends, this would TOTALLY be the sort of thing I'd do with my time :) I wasn't sure if people were interested in that too. The creative section here seems to move a little slow so I wasn't sure if people would mind.

I don't mind seeing it at all; you've got a lot of talent.
But I also don't say much because I'm not an artist myself, so I can't really discuss the finer points of it.

OK- If you guys what to see it, I'll spoiler tag my non King's quest art so that it's not taking away too much from the thread. Um, perhaps I should show some OCs of mine?

Zeth Gant is my current most popular one. He's a fan character I made for a Phoenix Wright story I'm writing, and he's become so well known that a few people have asked me what game he turns up in XD (Lol XD )

He's a gambling fanatic who loves to play the odds. He was born into a mafia family which he wants to leave and has a gift with evidence forging. He holds alt of vices that go against my grain like gambling and smoking, and he has little concern for people that don't matter to him. He's... a bit like Dr House in that way I guess, but Zeth does care about some people. Those people he'd go to the ends of the earth for.

Zeth leads a low budget life style, and doesn't spend money on anything he doesn't need to- not cause he's a cheapskate- he actually has alot of money due to being great at gambling. The high roller life style is what he's trying to leave behind, and he wants all his money to buy information off people. He networks the black market for information. Paranoid is a good word for him. Paranoid with a sense of justice. His character is a vigilante type :)
A poster I did of him- learnt vectors when I did this. From scratch. Illustrator holds no secrets for me now after 50 friggen hours of this picture >.<

A picture of Zeth playing a game of poker at an underground basement- likely with some dodgy folk. He prefers his money this way cause it's less traceable, and higher rolling. They gamble information here too.

Zeth ends up falling for a girl (Sarah Cottontail) with a mysterious back story. One I haven't fully written yet. I can say that in this, he's not dead- she shot him in the heart with a synthetic blood filled pellet. IT's her thing :) It's also the cover of this art book I made last year

Called 'I want your revenge after Lady Gaga's song 'Bad Romance'. The girl in this was meant to originally been the love interest, but it's a friend's OC and she didn't want me remoulding her for my story so I canned her for the girl in the previous picture. Aimee was cool cause she was meant to be a childhood friend and now a ballistics expert in the police force T.T Great back story lost.

Concept outfits for Zeth gant, Miles Edgeworth, and Godot for a casino scene I plan to have in my story. In this, Zeth is a dealer- thus his cheesy dealer vest :D

I've got tones of art of him at my DA account, but most is either unfinished, or not a hugely awesome standard/sketches... or not PG13 ( ) "Girly Meme featuring Zeth" (http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs31/f/2008/231/3/c/Tabbitroz__s_Girly_meme_by_Arkillian.jpg)  is a funny pic, but it's a meme so it's not a work of art. Just fun. Small note, the German looking guy (Alexander Kraus) is gay, and it's a girly meme, so Zeth IS crossdressing for the whole thing. It's randomness. It's also PG13, so don't worry too much about it being too naughty :)
Um... I can post more on Zeth, but there's alot of unfinished art / sketches / non PG13 art that I don't know if I should post.

Thanks guys :)

Oh- One thing I forgot, I TOTALLY created him when I was on codeine and tripping out XD It's so funny. He started off as a guy that wanted to frame Phoenix Wright for murder, then suddenly like a snowball rolling down the mountain to become an avalanche, he turned into this huge character O.O His character is nicknamed 'The Skunk' too :) When I posted the first concept drawing of him (http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs30/f/2008/052/8/f/Phoenix_Wright_OC__Zeth_Gant_by_Arkillian.jpg), a friend of mine called him 'skunk guy' and I just rolled with it ^^ His final concept ended up having him ditching the jacket, having a 90% primary colour scheme, and arm bands like poker players do. This is about the only ful body pic of him that isn't cut off somehow O.o
(http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs49/f/2009/195/6/7/Turnbout_Attorney__Mock_up_by_Arkillian.jpg)
Um... some others of Zeth are:-
(http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/185/4/e/TA_Mugshots_by_Arkillian.jpg)
I was going to use these in my art book, but had to ditch the pages due to time constraints. I really like their expressions in this. They actually tell you alot about the character's personalities :)

A tester comic page for my latest comic to try out some new methods of finishing. Pencil is much more fun for me, but I think I'll stick with inks. It's just nicer scanned. The scene is something like-

The 3 of them are at a Jazz Bar called the 'Alto Lounge' listening to this girl sing, but she sounds a little lifeless.

Vaughan (first guy)- "Well, she's hot, but she sounds like a robot."

Zeth (Skunk haired guy)- "You would too if you were listening in on a conversation."

Darren (Guy on right)- "Why are we talking about it here then?"

The next panel is the singer looking at them in interest as she sings. Zeth says something about the view being better here than in some dirty basement or something and talks about his plan.

This is just a sketch and will forever be. NZ just hit summer at the time, and to celebrate the great weather, I drew Zeth and Diego (a character from the Phoenix Wright games) playing volleyball, but Zeth got hit by a volleyball and now has a blood nose XD Summer happens to also be when we get Christmas, so it's a Christmas joke too, calling him Rudolf (the red nose reindeer) ^^

Zeth- "HEY! What are you grinning at old man?"
Diego- "Nothing Rudolf." *chuckles*

Again, they're two OCs of mine, Alex Dragon, and Athena. They're from my Medieval fantasy story, 'Dragon Twins'. Still got a lot to colour on this. I keep spotting mistakes T.T It's amazing how badly it scanned though. The scanner dropped all my light yellows. That annoys me :/ To get the yellows up, I had to sacrifice the light blues and... Urgh. My graduations are actually smooth IRL- honest.

Me too! I can't wait for April when it comes out on DVD! :D The sad thing about TRON is there is some FANTASTIC art already out there, and they're done by alot of professional artists so I'm all 'Do they REALLY need my art out there too?' XD You're right though- there does need to be more art of him. Specially of Kevin / Clu. He is such a COOL character. I am so happy that they used the original actors for the remake ^^ I really hope that TRON 2 has more Tron x Flynn though. It really saddens me that there wasn't any bromance there like the original :/ I'd like to think that TRON 2 will have Tron doing his awesome thing, teaming up with Kevin, Sam, and Quorria :) Maybe even Clu if they can <3 My life will be complete then :)

It didn't quite turn out how I wanted, but I tried a half tone finish like how the offset comics are printed. I like the lineart, but digital colour can fail me T.T

Anyways, I was trying for a cheesy 1960s comic scene. The picture is called 'The hunt for the Queen of Hearts' cause it was meant to be an intro page for my comic which is titled the same. Heh- the 'Queen of Hearts' is a bit of a crazy woman XD It's ok though- Zeth, the skunk haired guy likes it like that :)

Two sketches I found lost in the mix that I drew and decided not to finish.

Rosella trying to teach Alexander how to dance. He's a little unsure though. I'm sure he'll pick up on it fast though :)
Atleast he's not standing on toes XD

This one is titled "It's a boy!"
Uh- basically it 's a quirky picture of HITW seeing if Cassima has a boy or girl. I assume it was Alexander's idea as Cassima seems pretty bewildered about it XD Alexander is all 'Interesting..."

Uh- yeah. Sorry they're only sketches though T.T

Yeah- I like that one too :) It didn't have a strong enough composition to finish though so I left it a sketch. I have a lot of art like that actually. I have 100 leaf clear files for my art- so far, 5 of them. One is for art from 1989 to 2003, Final art from 2003 onwards, and three more for sketches. Two are general ones, and one for my fantasy story Dragon Twins :) I love going through them but most get bored. That's fine. I realise that people want to get a whole story out of something, and they aren't when they look at a sketch unless they know my mindset. That's why I give a description. Otherwise, it likely wont make sense to the viewer XD

Me too ^^ IT makes me wonder how Alexander feared learning how to be a Prince for the first time. He must've had a difficult time with a lot of customs. Being over humble would be a difficult thing to ween out I suspect. I know I've been a humble person all my life. If I was told I was a princess I'd likely run and hide.

Thanks guys :) The cyborg is based heavily off Grevious since there isn't really any evil looking cyborgs in the Star wars universe >.> He was filler art, but Argon did create a replica of a cyborg called Kallax to retrieve his lost memories. The problem was that Argon split their souls in two so that Kallax wouldn't be effected by the experiments on Kallax 2, but Kallax 2 got all upset that he was being held captive with no arms or legs, bet the snot out of him one week when I wasn't there to RP him and ran off XD That shows me, huh? XD No more weeks off over seas for me when a campaign is on XD

Kirk was interesting actually. Alot of him was just thrown together- except his eyes and mouth. I find if the nose and mouth look right then the rest fall into place. This pic didn't actually take me long to make as a consequence ^^

Yeah- I wish someone paid me for my silly walk, but instead it gives me pain, and I have to pay to fix it :/ Urgh. Well, it'll come right eventually. IT has to.

Thanks Katie :) The background didn't take as long as I thought it would, and the lighting effect REALLY paid off in this one ^^ I'm so glad I got the BV25 and BV29, cause those two markers are PERFECT for pictures like this :) They're the markers I used for the night sky. It's great cause purple is the complimentary to yellow which is the main light source in this picture :) I'm tempted to get the rest of the BV0 range cause they're just perfect shadowing colours ^^

Oh, and Katie, I'll know tomorrow if it's improving. I hope it's improving too cause I want to get back into hiking with my friends again. For that I need stable and strong legs and stamina. I can't have that without strong knees. I'm hoping she's gonna say I don't need anymore help. That'll save me physio bills :)

I hear that. I've started having knee issues in the last few years--minor stuff, thankfully, but it really makes you realize just how much you need and use your knees for! And us lucky ladies are built in such a way that we naturally put pressure on points in our knees that aren't really meant for it. The price of having hips!

Sorry I've been quiet. I've been hard working on a comic for a con in July called Narcolepsy. I haven't got much time left to do it so I've closed off over half of my social life to do it. I have two finished pages thoguh with no text for those curious!

Um- so people know- the dark haired girl, Monica was daydreaming, and the curly haired girl ran into her bowling her over. The curly haired girl threw her to her feet and dashed off in a hurry. There are reasons  :)

Hi guys! I've been pretty busy over the last 2 months working on a comic for a convention last weekend called Narcolepsy (http://www.paperdemon.com/comic/about/381.html).

Here's a few pages from the comic incase you're interested:-

Besides this, I finished off a Doctor Who (Matt Smith) picture I started close to a year ago called 'Honeymoon'
This is done in copics.

Kinda glad the pressure is over for now. Time to catch up on a backlog of art! :D If anyone is interested in purchasing my comic, it's $12USD including freight!

Time to dram more King's quest though...

A picture I drew for Haids. IT was a commission that I took on in April. I don't know if she still wants it. If she doesn't then that's ok.

Her prompt was :- "King Graham snoozing in a chair while holding his baby twins, one in each arm.  I don't really envision it in the throne room, I see it in the nursery."

I threw a Young Valanice in for free since having the whole family was more adorbs and was totally required :) The scan didn't end up too different to the original for once (on my screen) so I'm pretty happy :)

Put Graham in his adventuring outfit cause I could totally see him wearin that casually. For some reason all his clothes are that so... XD (And he's so dashing when he's young too, right?) I gave Valanice a nice blue dress to match Graham's hat :) I wish I had a lighter blue in that shade, but it's still lovely in this colour ^^ She's so pretty in this ^^

Hope you all enjoy!

I called it 'The sister that cried wolf'

I bet that before Cassima came along that Rosella tried to hook Alexander up with all her girlfriends XD Or atleast gave them the opportunity to be 'saved' by the heroic man that saved her from the 3 headed dragon ;)

I sympathise with Alexander being interrupted from a good book to save the local from 'danger'. Who knows... maybe one day it'll be real and.... never. Alexander can't help but be a knight in shining armour  :sweetheart:

Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: waltzdancing on August 27, 2011, 09:15:20 AM
I need it by the end of April. I am asking her what her favorite character is and what she likes. I am hoping she doesn't get wind of what I am doing.

What I am leaning towards is maybe a kind of time line. Like on the top Graham flying on the condor, Graham and Valanice together (I love the image at the end of KQ2 remake). Alexander coming home, Rosella saving Graham, Graham in KQ5, Alexander in KQ6, Rosella and Edgar in Etheria then a shot from TSL. I'm getting my hair done so I'll think about it some more.

That is what I am thinking about. I know that this is huge and I want to send you money to help pay for this. Also would it be possible to ship it so I can frame it for her?

This is my little sister and my buddy in crime :P
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread

I can ship it. There's little point commissioning me if you don't get the original XD (I'd offer you the original of that Alexander /Rosella one I did but there's alot of mistakes on it T.T I tried to fix them but I'm not happy with the results cause the mistakes were in the inking stage so they're more obvious :( )

I'll wait till you have a definite answer if you don't mind. I'm interested though :)

I totally would like the original of the Alex and Rosella, mistakes and all. It looks perfect to me :) Just tell me where to send the money too. I am in the States so we need take

So I was thinking about what I would like for my sister. I was wondering if you could do a collage of images from all the kings quest games (minus 8 :P ) Have an image of the royal family  and spouses all in the center and have their adventures surrounding them. How does this sound to you?
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: Arkillian on August 28, 2011, 02:29:38 AM
Oh- I wouldn't charge you XD You sent me that magazine. No, this one would be free. SPECIALLY with the mistakes T.T

Umm... I've never done a picture like that before, and I'm not sure that the size I work with is big enough for the 7 games recap in the background. Drawing the gang- sure. that I could do, but I think that adding 7 other complex images to the picture will over complicate it at A4. I mean, A4 is 8.3 × 11.7 inches in size. It's big, but not that big. There's only a certain amount of detail I can put into a picture before you can't notice it ^^;

How about something slightly simpler?  :sweating:

Thank you so, SO much for creating such an incredible work of art.  I most definitely want to do business with you again!  You have a true gift.  I'm proud to own an original! <3
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread

Oh! Excellent! I always worry about my art getting lost in the post- I had a comic and an original lost in postage to the Philippines once and it upset me. I rarely get the inspiration to do the same picture twice :(

Yeah- as I said, they always turn out SO much better in person than they are scanned. I can get more technical about it, but essentially the scanner picks up a certain amount of colour, and adds a certain amount of noise to the picture. The process of getting rid of the noise and bumping up the colours the scanner can't comprehend loses more colour, and your screen may not be calibrated to the same colours mine are so you may see it differently anyway. Essentially, the further you process a picture, the more information it loses. It's like converting analogue to digital. It's never quite the same at the other end. That's why I prefer my art to be seen in person. That isn't something that is common place for over seas people though so inferior scans it is T.T

I'm glad you love it more in person ^^ It seems the dark areas suffer alot in the scanning process so it's a treat to see it in person :) And sure- I'd love to do another one for you ^^

If you want me for free, then you need to wait for me to have time to throw at it ^^; You wouldn't get the original, but I could draw the picture and make it all pretty and stuff :) I can't guaranty when I'd draw it (although if it excites me it MAY replace my draw for fun art list >.> )

It's not something I advertise as people seem to take free art as gimmes, and not as something of worth. I only do gift art for deserving people.

Paid art is getting orignals of what I draw. I ASSURE you that my originals are SO much better than my scans. I think Haids would fully agree with me on that. The colours are stronger, un warped, smoother, it's not blocky, some colours I use that can't be scanned... In saying this, because... this sounds stupid, but if I draw off a prompt, I make it personal to me cause well... If I'm doing it for free, may as well enjoy it, right? If I do it as a commission I sever my emotional attachment to the picture. It's... weird I know, but it's how I work. I find it hard to part with my art if it wasn't a commission to begin with. Scans, sure. I'd give them for free.

Does that make sense? ^^;

No I totally see what you mean! I'm a fiction writer and guard it with my life. I get so attached to it I don't want people to rip it apart. And gosh no take your time! I don't want to take advantage at all. How much would you want for a commission?

Okay I'll go ahead and throw out the idea. I'd like Alex and Cassima in her room after the wedding. It can be sensual but not be over the top. It has to be tasteful. They also could be hugging or kissing. A classy love scene if you will. If there is such a thing.

I liked the full color like you did on Hailey's Graham picture. So possibly something like that. I'm willing to pay 20 dollars USD or so. (I do not know how the dollar measures up to NZ money so I'm flexible.)
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: Arkillian on September 07, 2011, 02:56:08 PM
Ah- a little A5 copic picture? Sure. I can do that for $20 USD :) that is + freight ($2.90 NZD.... Lets say $2.50 USD to be round (It's about that translated. The dollar isn't so god for me earning USD right now but FANTASTIC for me buying it  :D IT's about 80 cents in our dollar right now)?

I price all my international stuff in USD cause it's easier for overseas payments in Paypal cause most people seem to pay in USD.

The A5 card is bristol which is a nice weight- 220gsm I think. The copic marker is light fast so you don't want to keep it in the light. I keep mine in a folder, but if you want to hang it on the wall or something just keep it away from the window and it should be ok. The colours do change over time though if they're not lightfast. Just a warning.

A5 is 5.83 × 8.27inches so keep that in mind with your commission/requests. It can comfortably fit 2 people (The family portrait one worked cause Alexander and Rosella were babies) approx. If I put more in, things start getting toony. What ever is cool though! Specially if it's Cassima x Alexander. No really, it's when the picture starts getting un tasteful that I put up barriers of what I will draw (besides the obvious ones of if I'm actually capable of drawing something at my current skill level).

*pokes* hey you, have you had time for the commission. If not that's perfectly fine. I'm just curious.

*pokes* hey you, have you had time for the commission. If not that's perfectly fine. I'm just curious.

Sorry- October has been bad for me. I was busy the first week doing all sorts of stuff people decided was urgent, getting the reprint of my comic to my printer on time, next week I was in Norfolk Island (and somehow busy. Donno how on that island O.o ), and last week I was sick with laryngitis. I'm still sick with it, but I'm only dying a little now rather than burning to death by fever *n*

Before I do any of my own art, I'll be finishing your commission, and a gift art I'm drawing for a girl that was part of an exchange and didn't get a returned gift. Hers is about as done as yours is so I'm hoping I can push out both this week- all things going well :)

I'm sorry about the wait though. I appreciate you being patient with me. Time and health are not an abundant resource for me, which is why I haven't sent the Phoenix team my portfolio. As much as I'd love to be part of the team, right now I can't guaranty I can put out the art on time, even if I was getting paid for it. It'll be a different story when one of those two issues can be fixed :) I can deal with no time or bad health- not both >.<

Sorry though- I hope to have it done very soon :)

Ah it's not a problem. I figured you had other obligations to attend to. I'm sorry to hear you are ill, though. Did you lose your voice? Take care of yourself first! I hope you feel better soon :) I am looking forward to seeing it when you are done though.

Not completely but yeah XD I've had totally lost voices before- not fun. I had a whisper during work on Thursday so I was banned from phones and greeting customers. Of course it was a busy day :/ Atleast my fever had gone down by then. Tuesday was a nightmare. I was only 37.5, but it felt like I was dying T.T

Nearly better now though so no worries :D

Oh- I'll post a teaser of the lineart for this picture here

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v734/arkillian/thumb-7.jpg) (http://arkillian.deviantart.com/#/d4ah1sc)

The picture contains nudity, although it's certainly not enough to mature tag it. It it meant to be very similar to the one on the Valentines day card (http://arkillian.deviantart.com/art/Tear-drop-193588589) in pose except this time, Alexander is conscious  :) Oh, and he has longer hair in this. Maybe it happened a little after their wedding? ^^

WIP colouring this >.> I just need to beat my bug right now  :-[

It says 6 - 10 working days for postage. The print is being a problem cause it's coming out too red >.< I'm having to play around with it. This is the problem with red based traditional art. Looks awesome in person but the scanner loves to screw around with the colour T.T I've made an order with Snapfish though and hopefully my modifications have made it better :) If so, it'll be in the post very soon. It's hard to tell what stuff will print like cause screen calibrations can vary from the actual print job so much T.T

I just wanted to pop in and say that because I pestered her on DeviantArt like I had planned to, you can now see some of Arkillian's lovely artwork on my Wiki!

So far -- and this is just because Rosella doesn't have one yet (probably tomorrow!) -- I've put some pictures on the articles for Valanice (http://highfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Valanice#Non-Canon_Images), Graham (http://highfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Graham#Non-Canon_Artwork), Cassima (http://highfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Cassima#gallery-1), Edgar (http://highfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Edgar#Non-Canon), and Alexander (http://highfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Alexander#To_Die_At_Dawn).

Hey- If I were to draw some lesser drawn characters (IE someone I haven't drawn before) who would people want to see, cause I'm kinda interested in drawing other characters too. I'm intrigued by the possibility of Manannan being the ranger for one thing (young!Manannan), or perhaps a rendition of Shadrack with or without the hood (there IS art Phoenix Online has released of him which is hoodless) or maybe Hasan (Ready to sail? XD I love it when he says that- I always mimic him  :sweetheart: )... there's so many characters ^^ I mean, the good guys get drawn alot. I want to give something less common a go.

I think what I'm saying is what bad guy do people want to see me draw? :D
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread

Hmm...maybe Lolotte? Or Mordack? I feel like they don't get drawn much, as far as the villains go.
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: Arkillian on November 13, 2011, 01:01:39 PM
Mordack maybe, but Lolotte is a female who is pretty and exotic (http://vanity-circus.com/portfolio/files/352.jpg). She gets drawn plenty (in comparison to other badguys). Lol- drawing Mordack and his skull cap feels like Flash Gordon fanart XD Will see how it goes :)

edit- man- that url went all WEIRD O.o
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: crayauchtin on November 13, 2011, 03:37:02 PM
I've seen that picture of Lolotte before -- as much as I love it, it's still just one picture. It's really more of a dialogue portrait than anything -- there' still plenty of more room for other pictures!

I'd love to see some drawings of things we don't get to see in the games -- I mean, there's entire characters we only hear mentions of, or just get to read their epitaphs after they've died. How much fun would it be to be able to create a character's look from scratch for the King's Quest universe?

Also, I'd love to see artwork of Graham's card game against the firedrake -- it's mentioned in the Companion and in that Hoyle's card/board game program Sierra did, that Graham would have won if the firedrake hadn't incinerated the cards. That'd be an awesome scene to see.

I'm just throwing things out there, if anything inspires you then my job here is done. :P

Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: Arkillian on November 13, 2011, 03:58:42 PM
... Woah- the card game. Now that's something I have absolutely NO idea about XD. Never played it, and I barely know what you're talking about (I found it by stumbling onto some screen shots a few weeks back. That's all I know about it though :( )

I donno. Drawing dead people would be more interesting if I had more context to draw from, but I find those graves more humorous to read about than to sit there and draw. I mean... if it was for something then I'd have something to flesh out but drawing something that has little meaning to me is... I donno. It's not too inspiring. I draw OCs- don't get me wrong! I'm just not the type to make up a character that has no purpose or... character. It's alot of time to draw a person that means nothing to you :(

This is why I figure drawing some bad guys. They dont' get drawn much, but there's context to drawing them.

And thanks Katie :) I kinda rush my posts in between phone calls T.T

I'm not sure what you mean ^^; Colour is in context with the picture it belongs to. Are you still wanting a picture of a dog, or is it now Etheria? I mean, colour for the sake of colour is pointless without reason. I can draw a picture and colour it. I don't know what you mean by colourful though.

Ah, ok. It's probably best not to worry too much about till it happens :) Colours are decided upon when you know the content and the feel of the picture. It's not really a think of 'Draw Rosella and rainbows' It's more 'Draw Rosella in Etheria' or something like that. Or draw a rainbow themed Rosella pic. That kind of thing. A picture doesn't need to necessarily be bright colours to be happy.

(Posted on: November 20, 2011, 07:31:13 PM)

It's not King's Quest art, but it's fun:-
(http://www.paperdemon.com/data/artwork/3/3/31497-20111201113144.jpg/5_Solid_Gold_Rings_by_arkillian.jpg)
A picture I drew for a Christmas count down for a fan club of Miles Edgeworth  and Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney. I got the 5th of December so I thought it'd be fun to theme it 5 gold rings rather than the usual fluff Christmas art can be. As soon as I thought this, I imagined the old school hip hop bling where they had those rings that covered all your fingers and loled hard. Had to draw it, but I separated the rings so the theme was more obvious. I hope people enjoy :)

Arkillian-  If you don't mind, I would like a simple, though artsy ;), writing of "DawsonJ". (I realize it's simplistic, but my creativity leaves me for months at a time. :P)

Don't worry, I don't mean anything large - just a simple b&w image about the size of 2 photos side by side.

What would be the appropriate charge? (In U.S. quid)

I don't know who they are, but it looks awesome! Nice work. :)

What's your RPG about? What system? Etc:)

Tiger and Bunny hasn't been released in english yet so I'm not surprised. It's an anime about superheroes with sponsorship! They go around saving the city and have life dramas. The story revolves around Kotetsu, the guy on the right. His code name is Wild Tiger. He has the ability to be super strong / fast for a period of time, but he's a veteran hero and has a daughter that he has to neglect to save the city :( Tiger is forced to team up with Barnaby, on the left cause they have the same power and Barnaby has better ratings. This show is SO awesome though. TuT

The RP is systemless, via forums. It's a game of 'Spin the bottle'. Been playing it for a few years now. IT's my second time GMing this. I... think I wrote the rules to how to play the game actually XD I have to make sure that the game is fun for everyone and they actually play :) This is the thread if you're curious (http://forums.court-records.net/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=21091). IT can be pretty silly sometimes, and also serious. The adults are all playing truth or dare and there's ALOT of drama spewing out of that. My characters all are drama based though so it's no surprise. I've RPed with a few of the people there for a long while now too so we have alot of continued relationships all over the place which are great back story :) I love it ^^

What's this for?

Sorry, the site just told me about new comments; I didn't know you replied back then.

Basically, I want a nice label that I can frame. I don't have any written forms of DawsonJ, except online. It would be nice to have a label of my own here at the house. (In case you're confused, DawsonJ is my own creation, not my given name.)

Cute tattoo! :3

She's still work in progress, I'm doing her mane the SLOW WAY (Oh man it's slow- I'm doing the tooth floss method where I thread tooth floss through the hole and pull the pony hair through. Stabbed myself countless number of times and broke 2 needles. Good news is that I'm getting a rehairing tool from America which I can cut HEAPS of time with, save my hands, and hopefully some needles :) It'll take a week or so to get here though. I'll likely finish Sarah (my pony)'s hair by then.
Sarah, the girl in the wedding dress is the referance for the pony I'm making. She's based off the current run of ponies (Generation 4) Pinkie Pie. Mostly cause I had nothing to work with at the time. I'm slowly aquiring older ponies to mod.

A mock up of her wedding dress. It's currently still not sewn together, but it is cut and able to be pinned together.  Decorations are to be put on the dress, and will be fully removable if I want to display her with her cutie mark in full view :)

My ball jointed doll, Ophelia displaying the work in progress of the rehairing of Sarah. I've progressed a bit from here, but an hour of rehairing is gruelling and doesn't provide much visual change. The hair looks SO gorgeous though. IT's a super shinny white colour- like glittering snow ^^ It's perfect.

That's all I have at the moment :)

Heh- it's easier to go off a photo than from purely the mind. He took twice as long to get a resemblance with though ^^; My first few tries were alot less accurate, I assure you XD

Normally by WIP2 they're 90% there. There was NOTHING Tennant looking in this one XD He's on this angle where his characteristic gaunt look is just starting to round off, but not enough to be front on >.< IT was difficult.

Don't know if it's relevant to interests but... :) They're some OCs from a story of mine, Dragon Twins. It's... a little hard to explain, but the guy with the crown was born in to a warrior family, and he goes back in time to correct his past where evil took over the world. This picture is meant to illustrate the different levels of time. The old future, the present, and the new future.

Sorry I'm quiet ^^; I'm working on a comic right now XD

*hugs* Thanks, hon ^^ Sorry it's taking me a while to reply. I'm trying to coordinate everything around the 2 weeks I have left to finish my comic. I'm starting to panic a bit to be honest. I've had your Let's plays playing in the background as I work though :D It's been great company (even though it's technically not company XD )

I'm glad you like my gallery though ^^ Alot of people view only my fanart and don't search the gallery. That's the legacy of online galleries though. No one has time to give the full appreciation that they can give an artist cause there's so much to look at. It's really good to have the rest of my art appreciated too :) So many artists complain that they get ignored when it comes to original art. DA is smothering like that though I guess :(

Thanks Doon  I've been around since (One of?) the first beta of TSL, back when it was called 'Kings Quest (9)- The Silver Lining', but there were the red tape battles and production stopped. When there was no posts on the DA site, I gave up on the game and moved on thinking 'At least they weren't too far into the game'. IT was VERY buggy back then- nothing like it is now. All polished an pretty  All you had was that scene after the wedding where Graham talks to Edgar's parents. You could go up the stairs and that was about it. I've improved alot in art since then though- I could only draw a few poses reliably. I'm alot more dynamic and consistent now, so it's probably for best. I wasn't ANY where near as good as the concept artists we have now (I'm still behind quite a bit even now >.> ), but thank you for the compliment  I'd much rather be a supporter anyway. I've recently had my artistic ego severely bruised by a so called friend of mine, and I'm still recovering from it >.> I don't know how I'd be having my art in a game if I didn't know it was the best I could do. I'm a perfectionist ^^;

Still here btw... just REALLY busy and a bit over whelmed by life right now. I mean, I've made it official that I'm saving up for $10K surgery recently to correct my vision. I don't know how much this makes sense to people, but when you're considered in the top 1% of worst eye sight in your country, told your whole life that you'd never see perfectly, and suddenly it's completely doable with no risk? I'm... not sure how to handle it. I don't think I'll know how to react till I'm in the chair O.o I mean... I don't even know what my art looks like to the world. What if I don't like it? I'll have to relearn to draw! D:
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: KatieHal on May 22, 2012, 06:56:28 PM
I understand entirely, Arkillian. I had AWFUL vision and then developed chronic dry eye on top of it, which was aggravated by my contacts. I got LASIK in the summer of 2007*. The surgery itself was kind of terrifying, but it has been wonderful ever since having 20/20 vision. Completely worth it.

(*I remember because Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out the next weekend, and I did not let recovering eyes stop me from reading that thing as soon as possible! But holy crap, I can't believe it's almost been five years.)
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: Arkillian on May 23, 2012, 12:58:11 AM
Well, I'm going for a more advanced form- ICL Implantable contact lens. It'll give me better vision than laser will, and it's removable which is good for the glaucoma in my family. I also have very bad vision so it's the safest op. For someone that treasures her eyes above everything else though, this is a pretty freaky operation though O.o I may still have to wear glasses after for my crosseyedness too. I... have alot wrong. I can't wear contacts cause I'm cross eyed. I could wear daily contacts though if it weren't for that. They're hoping my crosseyedness will go away with surgery cause my eyes wont have to work as hard :)
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: KatieHal on May 23, 2012, 08:35:22 AM
Oh my. Well, I hope all goes well. I won't lie--even the LASIK surgery was terrifying. Just cause...dude, those are my eyes your poking around in! Gah! There's no way to not be scared about that. They gave me half a valium beforehand; I've never had it before, but I'm not convinced it helped at all, 'cause I was still tense and freaked out. There were even some unexpected things that happened during mine (we found out I had another condition that meant I really *should* have had a different kind of LASIK called PRK, but they adapted and everything was fine).

But if you've got good doctors, stress or no, you should come out of it just fine.  I hope I didn't make it worse...but I just don't want to say oh yeah it''s fine, no big deal, when yes, it is scary. But, these guys or gals should know what they're doing.
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: Arkillian on May 23, 2012, 04:07:55 PM
Well, this is the surgery that I'm getting (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUse-j52DME) (Youtube video of the procedure in a demonstrative format) so IT's probably even worse XD I might be ok with it though. I'm not use to contacts as such, but I picked up on putting them on my eye easily enough. It was keeping them on my eye and seeing through them that was the issue XD Looking at this procedure they're going to dilate my eyes so if yours required valium, I assume that I'll get a calming drug of sorts too since they're cutting into my eye.

I donno. The procedure it's self I'm not scared of. I'm actually fine with slicing weapons. It's piercing stuff I have issues with (spiders, needles...) but mostly on my left arm (got nerve damage trying to give blood, now it freaks out over injections. My right arm is fearless. IT's so weird). The part I'm worried about is post surgery. I... don't want to think about it cause I know I'll be a mess. I was with contacts, and this is permanent. I don't know how my mind will take in the idea of my world always being large, bright and colourful. IT's mind blowing. It's going to be  alife changing surgery for me- that's for sure :)
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread

Wow. That's nuts. So...are you awake for this surgery? Or do they put you under?
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: Arkillian on May 23, 2012, 07:25:00 PM
Awake. They need you to be awake to monitor you. It's all painless surgery. It's the eye- it only has touch receptors. If it hurts, then they're doing something wrong :)
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: KatieHal on May 24, 2012, 09:39:18 AM
Creepy.

Likewise for LASIK. They put numbing drops in my eyes beforehand. aNd I couldn't see what they were doing anyways, really. I did vaguely feel something at one point and my eye twitched, which they saw, so they added more numbing drops and I was all set.
Title: Re: Arkillian's Art Thread
Post by: Arkillian on May 24, 2012, 05:19:17 PM
That would've been cause it felt like it was being tickled, not cause of pain. I suspect I'll get a fair bit of that too XD What ever it is, the results are MORE than worth it for me. I've just run out of options with glasses. IT'd be nice to have options again ^^ Whether I come out with perfect or truly perfect eyes is all icing on my cake. I'd be happy being as averagely bad as most glasses wearers are in this world. If I had a -3 prescription, I'd be SO happy. I'd have no interest in surgery if my eye sight was that good. It's only when I went past a -7 that my eye sight bothered me. Not being allowed wrap around glasses to me was the last straw *flips desk* XD

Yeah- I've had to fight. Anything is better than what I have now. I've always said this. Even if I still wear glasses, I'll be a happier person. I've never had perfect eye sight, so I don't know what I'm missing out on. being able to see clearly a meter in front of me even would be the coolest thing. I honestly think I'd be scared to death of the world if I didn't have glasses at all XD

Um... I've mostly been doing comic art for the last while, but here's an update of non comic art:-
http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/037/2/5/a_kitten_treat_by_arkillian-d4ou47y.jpg
Phoenix Wright fanart for Valentines Day, may favourite couple in the series, Diego and Mia :) Diego's nick name for Mia is 'Kitten', so that's why she's in a cat outfit.
Picture isn't NSFW, but is a little risque due to context. This is called 'Chains of Fate', and it's a picture about the guy in the middle, Bryan, and how the chains of fate bind him to chose between love and lust.
Tales of Turnabout. the Double fold cover of the collected version of my comic that better be all handed to me by the end of the month :/

The cover to the solo print of my comic for Tales of Turnabout. ToT didn't make it's print deadline so I did a short run of just my comic.

Green Lantern's Light- Head shot. This is current- I'm working on his suit at the moment, this is a birthday gift for myself though. It's the Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, a long time favourite DC character of mine :) My interpretation of him anyways. This picture is a modern remake of one of my old pictures of him
(http://www.paperdemon.com/data/artwork/0/0/563-20040830105112.jpg/Iridescent_Green_Lantern_by_arkillian.jpg)
This version was done in paint. The new version will be done in coloured pencil :) So, hopefully 8 years of improvement should be noticeable XD Now I've gotten rid of the DBZ in my art and all ;)

(Posted on: May 28, 2012, 07:02:54 AM)

*********************************************************

New Stuff- I swear!

Um- So I've been disappeared for a long time. I'm still around- I try to check up but life kinda got a bit messy for me >.> Like, my Mother got celulitus, then straight after that got diagnosed with breast cancer. In the mean tim I'm recovering from fatigue from IBS and did ran tables for 3 conventions one after, then all broke loose for Christmas around mid January. Right now, one of my best friends is living with me and I'm looking for a flat with her... an apartment or something? Donno what Americans call it. We've been looking at alot of 2 / 3 bedroom apartments and it's all rubbish T.T It's been really good having the company to keep my sanity, but for now, it sucks up all my free time :(

There is positive news though- I found that I was protein deficient in October, and started upping my protein intake, and I feel like a million dollars now :D I'm finally full of energy and my strength is returning :) I'm actualy starting to surpass my friends in stamina and strength again which is heading back to where I was before this mess ^^ I'm so happy!

Anyways, I have been trying to draw when I can- it hasn't been King's Quest art- I've move pretty much fully only my old fan love, Green Lantern after finding a group of people that were fans of my favourite character who I thought no one liked but me- Kyle Rayner  :sweetheart: I'm by no means over King's Quest though! I just havent' had time for so many interests!

In case people want to see my arts, I'll post theme here so you can see them:-
(http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/168/6/c/6cc3ea3b556c7ef15505c4d03b0b2298-d52cijg.jpg)
Green Lantern's Light (complete)- Here's the final version of the picture below. Wow- it WAS a while since I posted here last! This was my birthday gift for myself- my favourite Green Lantern, Kyle, in coloured pencil. This took me AGES to draw but every bit worth it :D
(http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/225/7/5/chasing_starlight_by_arkillian-d5awmzw.jpg)
Chasing Starlight- This picture was to practise digital colouring as up till then, I had only digitally coloured while I couldn't colour. Now I'm ok with colour, I thought I'd give it another go :D This one is of Kyle with all of his girlfriends he's had over the years. It's said that he has the kiss of death as they all end up dying- I think the reboot DC did recently has erased that... along with most of his exes. This picture is a memorial of pre-reboot Kyle  :'(
(http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/287/3/9/with_this_kiss_by_arkillian-d5htcyt.jpg)
"With this Kiss"- DC blew me away with Hal Jordan's story line where we find out that Hal was going to finally propose to his girlfriend Carol Ferris. This is a 'What if' picture, to what if he proposed sooner and things went differently for him
(http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/302/5/c/the_fate_of_hal_jordan_by_arkillian-d5jaf8f.jpg)
The fate of Hal Jordan- This was an exchange picture from a fanfic, where Cowgirl, one of Hal's ex girlfriends gets his Green Lantern ring when he dies. I wanted to try an exploding type picture for this. IT was a real challenge!
The power of Love WIP1- The final sketch of a picture I'm working on now with Kyle and my favourite of his girlfriends, Jenny, flying around in sort of a heart shape. Not sure how I'll finish it yet. All I know is they look like they're having fun ^^
(http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/239/d/9/my_heart__s_a_stereo__kyle_by_arkillian-d5cln2p.png)
My Hearts a Stereo- Inspired by the Gym Class Heroes song "Stereo Heart", and the TV tropes take on the Green Lanterns saying that they were the four temperaments, I started a series of pictures called "My Hearts a Stereo", where I theme each GL on their temperament, and a band / song released the year that they were created. Kyle's one is Meloncholy, and Smashing Pumpkins "Meloncholy and the infinite sadness". Kyle is an artist, so I had him painting while listening to music :) (Sorry, this one is artsy so it's hard to explain)
Blizzard warning- One of two picture here that ISN'T Green Lantern XD This one is a Christmas gift for my friend Dana, who wanted Finland and Sweden from Hetalia in Viking costume. I have only a poor scan of it though which I'm sad about. She has the original in Kentucky though :D She loves it ^^
(http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/330/9/8/christmas_card_2012_by_arkillian-d5lm12k.jpg)
Christmas card 2012- My Christmas card design for 2012! I decided to draw 5 of my favourite local birds for this year's card. It's done in copic, and pencil :) Everyone loved the design :D The birds are as follows:- Kea (with the cane), Tui (Blue), Kiwi (with the stubby wings <3), New Zealand Fantail, Kakapo (Famous for this video) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A7uFSbRJ5w), and the Pukeko (Red beak)

******************************

I hope you all enjoyed my art! I hope to return with my TSL fanart soon. It's been a while since Alexander graced my sketch pad  :-\ Hopefully I'll be able to get some fanart out when I've moved into my new flat soon!

Happy new year everyone!

Me too. It's been tough, but mostly cause of the protein thing. I have also been busy even if it's only mentally though ^^; I've been trying to keep up but even right now, I'll likely only keep up with the Creativity thread. I'm slipping in Cognition when I can :) My computer is dying a slow death but I'm getting through it slowly :)

Thank you :) I actually have ALOT of fanart, but it's all deap in my thread ^^; My TSL art can all be found on my Deviantart account though (http://arkillian.deviantart.com/gallery/29486802) or atleast my current art. I think I've taken down some of the older stuff.

Glad to hear that you're doing better! If you don't mind my asking, was the protein deficiency just due to inadequate protein in your diet, or do you have a condition that causes you to require extra protein?

How's your vision? Did you ever get that eye surgery?

Lack of protein. I was only getting it from one serving of chicken a day. With an egg a day also I'm fine.

No- the eye surgery wont be till 2015 or so. I have to save up 10K for that, which isn't going to be any time soon ^^; I do look forward to that though :)

Sorry- I've been a bit MIA around here due to reasons >.> I'm trying to get myself back into things again, but stuff has been... urgh. I haven't even been drawing much lately T.T

I'm not sure which Green Lantern one you meant, but thank you :) The BDSM one... the one with the looping chains and stuff? I guess it does have kind of a bondage theme going on, but that's also sort of how he feels emotionally cause he's emotionally bonded to both girls, but his heart wants one, and another side of him wants the other. It's sorta metaphoric or whatever TuT

Do people still want to see my art here? I dont' have anything King's Quest, but I do have other stuff. Not much, but some art. I'll link it here if people want to see it :)

Um- for the record, this is not a compliment to me or any artist. I'm not sure why people think that saying that my art is better than theirs is a compliment, when it's such a self limiting thing to say, and all it does for me is make me feel sad and awkward.

Please- don't say that to an artist, no matter how complimentary or accurate you think you may be :( I have very strong views about artistic ego and artists. IF you want artistic help and are passionate enough to want to get better, then I'm happy to help, but I don't want compliments to be at the sake of your artistic pride, even if you don't count yourself as a serious artist.

***************************************

Um... Art though... Well, I've been on a big Green Lantern kick lately if it's not obvious. I go through phases I guess? So most of this is Green Lantern related- most of it being specifically Kyle Rayner related (cause he's the GL I follow the most)

I felt like making a chibi of all the current Earth Green Lanterns in celebration of the new Green Lantern, Simon Baz that got introduced about 6 months ago now. We don't know a lot about Simon yet but that he has a tattoo on his arm that is arabic for 'courage' (he is Arab American), he's stolen a few cars, and was framed for terrorism. Hopefully they clear his name now that the latest story arc is over :)

Role call:-
Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Simon Baz.

***********************************************************

A more realistic version of him. I was a bit upset that my first fanart of him was a chibi of all things so drew this. Based off an image of Arab model Mrad Mouawad.

***********************************************************

Balance:- I made this picture because I thought it was really cool that Kyle Rayner was trying to learn how to become a white lantern (a lantern of life, or all the emotions), and Hal Jordan was going to become a black lantern (A lantern of death), and I thought it was like a Yin yang, that the two would stick around for a while and be all balancing and stuff- thus the yin yang flow line of the picture :) Sadly, this wasn't the case, and although Kyle kept the white, Hal only had black for Green Lantern #20 (just come out), and the two of them didn't team up for a Yin yang anything for it T.T *sighs* I is disappoint.

The original of this had silver paint on it incidentally, which I had to photoshop to make it an even colour since it scans badly ^^; Just in case it looked a little weird to people. Silver scans with a lot of flash back :(

*******************************************************

My Angel of light:- A few months back, they stated that Kyle becoming Ion 2 and Parallax (long story- Read sinestro Corps war for it) was still a thing that happen after the DC wide reboot, so I thought I'd do a picture of Parallax playing the Phantom of the Opera with Ion, but the image was a little weird with two guys so I turned Ion into a girl. A lot of people are mistaking Ion for Donna Troy (http://www.hyperborea.org/flash/bigimages/donna6.jpg), but I guess that can't be helped when his outfit is so similar  (http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/scale_medium/0/3852/111921-186809-kyle-rayner.jpg). Not sure if still work in progress?

********************************************************

Emotional Turmoil:- This picture was inspired by the spider web (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RFpxeWKkFRI/USbSO9wkiSI/AAAAAAAABeo/oS3y0fFRs8M/s1600/Green+Lantern+Kyle+Rayner+New+Guardians+WhiteLantern+Volthoom+DC+NEW+52.jpg) that Volthoom (the just defeated bad guy in Green Lantern) uses to warp reality for each of the Green Lanterns. This picture went through a lot of incarnations, but I settled on this one in the end cause I didn't want the picture to be dangerous or sexual in any way- I just liked the visual effect the web gave. Apparently he looks like he's at a disco XD I blame his white lantern outfit (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130124182254/greenlantern/images/3/37/White_Lantern_Kyle_Rayner.jpg)- it reminds me of something someone would take clubbing XD

A Space Odyssey:- A parody of Jamiroquai's album cover (http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/6813/b00005nzkm01ss500sclzzzgc8.jpg) inspired by a scene in New Guardians where Kyle is trying to learn how to control love, and he has this funky crystal helmet on his head (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v734/arkillian/sapphire_zps74a1959c.jpg) (that comes back in #20! <3) and was instantly reminded of the cover ^^ IT's a bit silly, but it was fun :)

*********************************************************

The eye of the storm sketch:- some non Green Lantern art! This is my OC, Bryan on top of a gargoyle looking over his country with big wind formed dragon wings. I called it this cause I feel like he's watching out for an army to approach before he attacks from above :)

*******************************************************

Sam Flynn WIP:- Sam Flynn from Tron Legacy. A work in progress from this reference (http://filmreviewonline.com/wp-content/gallery/tron-legacy/tron-5.jpg). It'll look more like it should as it gets more background colour etc... It's hard to tell how it'll look with a bright white background ^^;

**********************************************************

I have others, but it's pretty much all sketch art, or lineart stuff so I didn't link it here. I hope this is interesting for people and not too confusing ^^; I don't know how many Green Lantern fans are out there. I tried to post stuff that is relevant to non fans also ^^;

Also- decided to stop using spoiler tags cause they're a pain. IF you want me to reapply them I can.

Those are amazing! Oo, neat to see an OC from you too :)

And noted re: how to compliment artists. And in that case, I'll say I love your work because you really capture not just such realistic detail, but also a lot of other styles, and there's a lot of emotion in your work. From the realistic images to even the cartoony lineup of Green Lanterns there. It's quite amazing!

Urgh- I've had hideous amounts for art funk over the last year- it's been shameful T.T I'm trying to get out of it! I managed this last night :)

Sorry I haven't been around. I was flat hunting last year, moved into my first flat in July, then had back to back conventions, comics, Christmas, then I get screwed up having the wrong food at a wedding and am only just recovering from it. It's been very hard cause I've had a lot of anxieties to get through. I'm hoping to turn that around though! Oh- I also haven't been drawing cause I got a new computer in January and I'm still reinstalling programs and transferring files! It's been crazy! MY tablet hasn't worked the whole time. I'm hoping that the lastest driver update that I did today fixes my tablet. It seems Windows 7 isn't so happy at my old school Wacom 2 tablet T.T

Anyways, I called this picture "Avenging Alexander" cause he looks like he's gonna go after someone with that wand in his hand and turn them into a cat  :smitten: Looking forward to the new part when it comes out. I hope it's soon! I'm going to replay the whole game soon on my new computer and re-remember everything TuT I do miss TSL so much :3 I'm looking forward to skipping through the dream realm doing cool stuff ^^

And sorry for necro-posting ^^; I assume in this thread's case it's OK?

Slowly adding to the picture  :deal:

Got a little worn out by the time I got to this stage of the picture so it's still work in progress, but I kinda like the colour scheme :) I need to work on it a lot more than this to get the lighting right but I think it has the over all feel to it :3

Thanks :) I'm... sort of back. I'm still having big mood swings despite cutting out espresso coffee from my diet and my blood pressure becoming normal again, and eating right 90% of the time. So... yeah. I prefer to not interact too heavily till my mood settles down, which will likely happen when I'm back drawing properly (Which I'm not right now T.T ). Sorry I'm a bit of a drag T.T I just have a lot of s*** going down IRL that is wearing me out.

Man though- the forum has expanded with all the new games so quickly O.O I was a little lost wandering around the threads finding where it all is now. There's so many new games you guys have now ^^
