This is my first thread in this community, though I've loved KQ since I was four, learning how to type "SWIM" before Graham drowned, and small-child Sylver went bawling to her mama because she just killed the King of Daventry.
I'm adoring everything TSL so far. The music is just amazing particularly - I could talk about that for ages. But what I have to address here is the writing. My God. The narration and dialogue were clearly written by a very longtime fan, with often the express purpose of fondly tugging at other longtime fans' heartstrings - Oh, yay! Hole in the Wall! C'mere, cutie! <3 OH MY GOD it's the Dangling Particple, why does this make me so stupidly HAPPY?! -
... Or punching them in the gut.
CHAPTER 2 SPOILERS FOLLOW.
Several times in just these two chapters I've been on the verge of tears. Whether that's happy (Wedding! I love weddings! And it's ROSELLA AND EDGAR, finally!), devastated (Alexander's scars... holy hell, poor baby. Suddenly everything Mannanan did to him hits home...) or horrified (Oh dear God don't jump Valanice!).
I wasn't expecting this. Maybe I didn't even know how very important all of these characters are to me, and have been since before I can remember, but. They are. And I certainly didn't expect for this game to wreak such wonderful havoc with my emotions.
And not just the bad ones either. Don't you DARE stop with the "boring walks down Memory Lane!" I want to hear about Cassima hiding in a vase when she was little! I want to hear about Valanice talking to her flowers, and Rosella asking why the princess can't save herself from the dragon. These are revelations that fit so well it's like we've always known, but it's wonderful to hear again. It's these little HUMAN moments that make them real.
And here more than ever, I'm feeling that... King Graham is just kind of Good Personified, isn't he? In chapter 1, I think a defining moment of his is refusing to take shelter from the magical storm without Hassan and the First Mate ("They're my crew, and if they're not going, neither am I!"). And later, his observations on the scarily pretty guillotine... Comforting Edgar, helping him see the good that comes from every awful moment...
Yeah. My heart kind of jumped into his hand. If everyone had a dad or a father-in-law or friend like the Graham you're showing us... well, the world would be a much friendlier, safer place.
So, thank you writers. Thank you so much for not only bringing them to life again, but giving them new life. Showing us that they're every bit as wonderful as we remember, and giving us new reasons to love them. Thank you for making me fall in love again.

Amazing that ye have actual fan interaction, something I'm not used to elsewhere. Love. And oh, God yeah, the little details are my favorite. The little human moments and loving touches are what make a good story an AMAZING ONE.

I'd like to echo this sentiment also! I consider myself a pretty die-hard fan but the depth and richness of the writing in this game has me wondering how well I
really know the story of King's Quest. I've played each game many times but not for many years. To have TSL inter-twine so many characters and past events it really brings back a lot of fond memories and "Oh yeahhh I remember
that!" kind of moments... The game offers enough dialogue that even if TSL is your first King's Quest game, you could easily piece together what happened in past games (and of course, want to go play them!)
I believe (at least part of) the team's objective here was to bring a satisfactory conclusion to the story of King's Quest and I think that TSL is going to blow it right out of the water! An effort Roberta herself would be proud of!
As I've said in other threads, you really truly can feel the heart that the team has put behind this project. It was well worth the wait.

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! OMG MAKE IT JANUARY NOW!! I WANNA PLAY PART 3!!!! *fans self* I am *so* glad that HITW returns! And yes! I think it'd be awesome to have the dangling participle back too! I loved how curious he was, and the little animation of it going into Alexander's jacket <3 I picture it sitting on his shoulder as Alexander walks around ^^

If KQVI was ever made into a movie, I can see Alexander walking around Beast's forest with a CGI Dangling Participle constantly running from one shoulder to another asking questions and being a little chatterbox. ^_^ Kind of like Donkey from Shrek, except Alexander would be more amused than annoyed. :)

I believe that is the only primary source of reference for the Dangling Participle.

Hehe...no, I just meant that the costume is a little closer. I was more making fun of the fact that people have made such a big deal about such a minor thing as a slight visual character redesign. I actually have never expressed any issue with TSL's Alex look. That was someone else. The visual look of the characters is purely cosmetic and really has no bearing on whether or not the game experience retains the feel of an original Sierra adventure, in my opinion. :)
