The folks over at Infamous Adventures are having the heck of a contest! Relive the magic of Sierra in this amazing contest! From IA:
QuoteHelp us determine what is, once and for all, the single greatest Sierra adventure game! Infamous Adventures has announced "The Greatest Quest Ever Told!" a contest to determine what is the number one Sierra
adventure game and it looks like a heap of fun!
It's now time to determine what is the BEST, what is the WORST and what is just floating along in the middle.
It's simple and should be fun! Every two days (sometimes longer, especially near the end when we're up to the newer and longer games) we'll play through and rank each Sierra adventure game, in the order
of release. The goal here is to play, or replay, each game. Try and re-experience the pleasure!
Then log onto the forums and answer the poll question "Rate The Game". This is the question we're going to use to create the final results, the best, the worst and the ones in the middle. Each game will have a standard couple of questions, but feel free to start your own threads. Make comments, argue, prove your point!
And that's it! Simple!
Join up (http://www.infamous-adventures.com/forum)and be involved! It's going to be great and we're going to answer that question that every adventure game fan has. What is really the greatest Sierra adventure game?
For more information and to join the quest, log onto to the Infamous Adventures forums! (http://www.infamous-adventures.com/forum/index.php?board=54.0)
I don't know if I'll be able to take part in this, but I'm excited to read people's reviews and watch some LPs! ;D
So wait, I'm a little confused. We debate about what the greatest adventure game is? (KQ6, by the way, but you know...) Or did you want us to write our own reviews and Let's Plays?
Sorry Cez, I'm running on lack of sleep...:)
It's probably better to ask for rules clarification at the IA forum, although if one of the guys from there wants to answer over here, too, they're welcome to!
(although I am going to edit Cez's post to give the same info as the blog now, too!)

Lol. I happen to agree with you, but since I haven't played many of these games yet, I'm planning on being as unbiased as possible.
They've posted two of the prizes for the contest as well--one is getting a character based on you in Kingdom of Sorrow, voice and all, and the other is a copy of the TSL soundtrack! :) With more prize announcements to come, I believe.
I'm not really interested in the contest, so I won't get involved.
Worst sierra adventure game? It might have been Urban Runner... Don't know if anyone has ever played that?
For me the contest is all about having a chance to play some old favorites and discuss and also to have a reason to buy/play some of the games that I never did. I can't wait to play those old games. I have my opinions on the games that I like the best as well (not KQVI ;)) and I love that I will have a chance to defend my picks. If you don't have time to play everything, you can still contribute to the discussions. The more opinions, the better the discussion will be! I can't wait!
I'll come over and take a look shortly, though my schedule is above and beyond chaotic at the moment but if I can fit any plays in I will.
Sounds like fun, I'll make sure to check it out.

I remember that game from years ago, but not much of it (just the beginning where some guy is chasing you, and then you win a watch or something). I tried to play it a while ago but I couldn't get it to work.
The start date of the contest has been announced: the fun begins on January 10th, 2011! On your marks!
The contest has begun! Play and post your thoughts on the adventure that started it all, King's Quest 1! :)

Now playing and discussing: King's Quest 2!

Now playing: BLACK CAULDRON!
Holy crap it started and I missed it! OK going to try and catch up a bit over the next couple of days if I can manage it :P
Oo, Black Cauldron, my first ever Sierra game!

Oo, Black Cauldron, my first ever Sierra game!
I played a little of Black Cauldron on Sarien.net, but I wasn't very enthralled by it... I like the KQ and SQ games a lot better.
Honestly I wouldnt judge The Black Cauldron by playing it through sarien.net, that site although pretty cool is really buggy and unfair to the game. The SCI community has converted it to a point and click interface so its alot less old school.

That's actually really cool. I didn't know there even was an SCI remake of it! Thanks for the link!
I might check that out too; I've never played The Black Cauldron before!
FYI: We are now playing King's Quest III!

Now playing: Space Quest 1!

LSL time...
Oh yeah, thanks chucklas. I've been so busy this week I forgot to update! :)
(Posted on: January 20, 2011, 05:32:36 PM)
Police Quest 1 is up! :)
Mixed-Up Mother Goose is up.
I am officially 3 games behind now...writing these reviews is taking a lot longer than I anticipated. :P
Whoops--haven't updated this in a while. We've done SQ2 and are now on to Gold Rush! Even if you've fallen behind, all the previous games' threads are still open for comments and reviews! :) It's a great excuse to revisit old favorites, or finally play the games you always meant to get to but never did.

On to the SCI era! King's Quest IV is first up. :)
Looking forward to seeing Infamous-Adventures' remake of SQ2 - that should be really good as well! ;D
KQIV is up now.
Go looking for love in several wrong places with Leisure Suit Larry 2!! :)
Of all the Sierra games... I'm unsure if my much older stomach is able to take a playthrough of Phantasmagoria. I think I was like 8 or something when I first watched my brother play it. Now... well I don't even watch the Saw films. I do miss Freddie Pharkas though.
Manhunter is up, btw, and the length of time between games has been extended (thank goodness; otherwise I don't think I'd ever catch up :P).
(Posted on: February 17, 2011, 02:02:38 PM)
Police Quest II is up.
This contest is still going and going strong, folks! It's well into the 90's era now--KQ6, SQ5, GK1, and QfG4 have all come up for ratings recently. Get on over there and vote for your favorite Quest of all time!
Yeah...I'm so far behind now it's not even funny. 19 games behind, to be precise. I just haven't had the time to play and review them. :(
