Title: "Graham is not going on his journey dressed like this."
Post by: Sslaxx on February 04, 2011, 11:06:24 AM
Heh, why not? I'd be amused to see Graham gallivanting around the Green Isles in his formal wear. And it'd be amusing too to see a comment about Graham in his comfortable, reassuring normal adventuring duds (ala the comment about what Roger wears in SQ6).

If he did walk around town like that, it would make one of the "puzzles" in episode 1 completely null and void. I'd love to see Hassan's reaction though come to think of it.

I remember being shocked when I saw Graham wearing a crown in the demo.  I was like, "Whoa!  I thought Graham was too humble for that!" Makes sense now, of course, but it would have been a kick to see him traipsing around in his silver and gold.

Then again, it wouldn't have felt like King's Quest, so...

Eh? He wore a crown in 1-4. Probably 8, too, but I can't remember.

Never played 8, but he always had the Cap at least somewhere nearby in the other games.  I was like, "Why is he starting off the game dressed this way?!" in the demo. :)

He didn't ever go adventuring with it on, did he?

Well, no, but my point is that he wasn't too humble to wear a crown. It's a symbol of his Kingship and part of his formal dress. It's not like he wore it to make himself look better than everyone else, he wore it to say "Oh, by the way, I'm a king." Kind of like US Marines would wear their dress uniforms at special occasions, indicating, "Oh, by the way, I'm a marine."

Well, we have seen KQ characters in their birthday suits before. There's a cheat in MoE where you can essentially remove all of Connor's clothes. Of course, there's a nice big Mask of Eternity covering the family treasure, but still, Connor is in his birthday suit.

Can anyone say Betazoid weddings much? XD (that's a Star Trek The Next Generation reference btw)

I'll bet a lot of people would have paid good money to see Deanna Troi's wedding...

Hmmm... there goes that off-topicness again!

I still find it fascinating that they have weddings in that fashion... I'd much rather have all of my clothes on while I marry someone, thank you very much. Although the Klingon wedding ceremony from DS9 Season 6 is really fascinating. When/if I get married, I am really tempted to hold a Klingon Wedding. Including having the whole path to Kalhiya or however they spell it.

I thought it'd be cool to walk around in his nice king gear too T.T Oh Graham- you're so proper. I hope he wears it later though :D

I love it how he brings it with him everywear like it's his day wear XD Maybe he's like Doug and has a closet of the same adventuring outfit- one for each day of the week XD

If he did walk around town like that, it would make one of the "puzzles" in episode 1 completely null and void. I'd love to see Hassan's reaction though come to think of it.
In that case, it'd be nice to have it as a feature after completing the game for the first time, maybe?

I don't think we're going to be adding it in; we got lots of other stuff to focus on. Maybe down the line as a last minute feature. Who knows.

If you're up for some modding, you could try replacing the model and skin for the Questing outfit with the Royal outfit. It's pretty complex though.

Yeah, that's way beyond my technical abilities. If you have a lot of time and patience, you can try it I suppose.

DON'T LISTEN TO HIM!  HE LIES!

And the path to Kalhaya should be standard at all weddings.

Oh, and I liked Graham's kingly outfit.  It would have been interesting to see him wear it and watch it get muddy and messed up as the story gets more involved and darker.  Rather poetic, actually.  Just not practical.  And you need to have the adventure hat.  So he had to change, I guess.

I KNEW HE WAS LYING! I KNEW STAR TREK WOULDN'T LIE TO ME!!!!!!!!!

So it's official; if/when I ever have a wedding, I'm going to make it a Klingon wedding, and I'm not going to let my partner complain about it. And I'll have the road to Kalhaya involved in it too!

He could have easily taken the crown off and put the adventurer's cap on and keep the kingly outfit. It's not hard to do... I agree it's not practical, but it's still possible...

That reminds me of an excellent game, Batman: Arkham Asylum, which takes place during a single night at the asylum. As the game progresses and Batman undergoes more stress and damage, his suit and body begin to visibly deteriorate: rips appear in his cape, bullet-holes riddle his armor, and stubble grows slowly on his chin. Details like these lend greater believability and realism to the game.

Actually, you can see how we had a plan like that for Rosella if you look at her concept art. The ballgown can be seen in it's full splendor in a few images, but in one of them it's ripped up and showing a whole lot of wear.

I noticed that!  Perhaps after all is said and done, you guys can reveal what that was all about (since it's not appearing in any of the episodes. :()
