What do you guys think about Tierra Entertainment? You know, the company that so far haas done remakes of KQ1 and KQ2 in VGA. I think their version of KQ2 is one of the best KQ games period. With that they added more depth to that game, and brought back the nostalgia of games like KQ in a time of shooters and grand theft auto.

I think without tierra perhaps there would be so many adventure gamers fan seriously disappointed, because the genre has been literally forsaken and forgotten, noone seems to care anymore (talking about nowday game developers) so Tierra (now AGDI) has given a big step to commit to all they have done so far, I personally admit I respect them, hope they keep on working actually, since being involved in this I do know how much time and commitment it takes, and so far they mean a lot to fan community thats why they should just keep doing as good as they've been so far :).

I wouldn't go that far. They may have been a small step in the resurrection of adventure games. Yes, the fact their games were free was a big plus, but if you keep an eye on JA+, you're sure to find an adventure you like now and then. So I think more credit goes to JA+ than Tierra, for keeping the adventure community alive and kicking.

Im speaking into the old adventure game, since its what many seem to be attached to, as I see it lol moe was "adventure" (or something) and was just a big failure because it was lacking of story and substance, when it combined another "nowday" features as 3d, and some action, you have to admit it was a big decline for the "adventure" feeling the kq series was about, thats my point, maybe the big picture there are sites as JA which its a big portal of info, but even so, without the developers there wouldnt be much of a JA, and hahaha maybe its because of what I said, because I know what big commitment it is that I apprecciate what Tierra has done so far, that I see them the way I see them, it is a very personal perspective, keep that in mind.

About the fan community I guess your right JA does cover pretty much what the adventure gaming is right now, but JA does not develope games, he covers it and offers a service, which its entirely different, Tierra does develope (which IMO its a lot to say) and I think they have an important place in adventure fan community, thats what I meant.

It works two ways, if there wasn't a site like JA, the developers of adventure games would have no place to advertise their adventures (for such a great part, at least, of the adventure community) and thus would not make enough profit and would stop making adventure games altogether.
Every player has its place and they all need to work together to keep the adventure genre alive & kicking. Sure, Tierra/AGDI meant a lot to the continuation of the $ierra-legacy but adventures are so much more than only Sierra-adventures. There are others who are working on the continuation of Lucasarts (Indiana Jones in particular)-adventures and there are those working on completely new adventures. IMO they deserve the same kind of appreciation Tierra/AGDI does, even though they may not be as far developed as Tierra/AGDI (has) already.

And so is mine a personal perspective. I appreciate all perspectives. It's perfectly normal for people to have different perspectives about certain 'things'.

Not to knock AGDI/Tierra, but as good as their remakes were/are, I think most of their popularity simply comes of having actually finished a fangame related to a popular game series. There have been fangames finished for less well-known series, and a bazillion fangames for popular series that aren't finished yet, but I think Tierra was the first to pull off both criteria.

And I think debating JA vs. Tierra is a little like debating the chicken vs. the egg. Yes, JA has kept the adventure community bubbling. But if there were no adventure game makers out there to create adventures, eventually JA would run out of ingredients, so to speak. Plus that's discounting other sites like Adventure Gamers and Adventure Collective, etc., not to mention the smaller sites devoted to a single game series or company. In fact, Adventure Gamers is slowly building a section devoted entirely to "amateur adventures". JA is definitely not the be-all and end-all of adventure game sites, you know.

well thats the point and Im not saying your wrong :P lol, you say thanks to JA there are groups as Tierra (and other developers who happen to make profit out of it :P), of course! I dont deny that, but it doesn't apply in all situations since I seriously dont feel involved into any of that, I got involved in all that as I got involved in kq9, maybe Im part of a minority, remember Im not an adventure fan, in fact I heard first about Tierra than about JA.

But hey, I love JA, their work, and love their ppl <3 :) they are a great fan community indeed :) they do inspire and support ppl :D

And JA has developed a section for amateur game developers. But no, JA is not alone, I am well aware of that, but nobody can deny it's a big community overthere. On their forums, I can't keep track of all the posts as I (can) do on this forum, at least not in the same period.
