That's the first I heard of it, but OK. I lost about 1500 posts, or whatever gets me to the next level and keeps me in 2nd place... I'm not greedy  ;D

hahah, I did say it! when dragonslyer kept saying that he hate Neil for that :D, so I did say about the re-giving the post count, Im not going to let the forums go to hell over something so silly, thats why I said it :) plus wtf, noone should hate neil <3 :)

I think it was about 300-odd posts I lost, it has been that long already I don't remember it very well anymore. And anyway, I don't remember exactly how many posts I lost either, the only thing I still remember clearly is I should have been a level higher than I was. That's a downside of this type of post counting, it always showing the current number. If it was the other system. I could've seen how many posts I had when I complained I should have had more (heck, I made a special thread about it), and then extrapolate how many posts I missed. This is the best estimate I can make at this time: 300. Won't make me a Magical Genie yet, but at least I'll be closer. ;)

I had about 910 posts, some of which were added (can't remember what the totals in the pre-crash record were) and some which weren't.  Just add 455 and I'll be happy. ;)

That's a pretty specific total for someone who doesn't rememeber what the totals in the pre-crash situation were. :o

Well, I just remembered my latest count, I couldn't remember what the count was at the time of backup especially when I wasn't sure when the backup was made. ;) Though I do remember practically doubling my post count over the summer....

Yonkey posted the pre-crash totals somewhere, can't remember where. :P

Actually, I never posted the pre-crash totals.  I posted the totals everyone had from Boardnation though over here:

http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?action=display;board=2;threadid=491;start=0#msg9903

Actually, if you go to your profile and search all posts made by you, it orders them all by the number of posts u made most recently.  The number it says beside the post u made closest to October 25th.  Subtract THAT from your current post total and Boardnation count I posted above, and you'll get your pre-crash total (that is, the number of posts you've made up until June 27th, 2003).  Before I post this, it says 457, meaning my pre-crash total was 805-457 = 348.

Erm, the searching won't work quite right... :( How do I search for ALL posts by a certain user, not just the ones with some word in them?

Yeah, that search thing's somewhat messed up.   ::)

The easiest way is to go to their profile (finding their name in the member list or something) and at the bottom of the screen where it says Additional Information, choose Show the last ALL posts of this person, and hit Go.

It might take some time to load, depending on the amount of posts the person has and/or the length of them. :)

Storm

OK... My post count now is 1571, my boardnation post count was 122 (geez, I must have been sleeping then), and my post count up to the recent crash was 855...

SO: 855-122 = 733 and that's my pre-crash total. But not really - that's just the total on the last pre-crash backup  :P

So I'm no closer to knowing how many posts I lost... BUT, I did notice I have ABSOLUTELY NO POSTS between 25.6.2003 and 27.10.2003!!! that's 4 months worth of  lost posts! just for comparison, in the ~2 months since 27.10.2003 I made 716 posts. Even if you consider the 122 boardnation posts made at that time, it's still plenty  ::)

Maybe that 1500 posts estimate wasn't that far-fetched after all ;)

Don't forget Storm, your current post total includes your YaBB posts.  The old forums didn't include those, so you'd have to subtract those too.   ::)

Yeah I know, it's complicated.   ;D  One thing's for certain though, I know no one reached the Magical Genie level and very few people were at the Powerful Wizard level.  :)

488 is what I need then. 422 was the pre-crash amount (1267-705-140), and 910 posts is the last number I remember before the crash. So my estimate was actually a little under the actual amount. ;)

October 25th, of what year? I've got November 3, 2002 as the latest entry (somewhere in the archives), numbered 837. It took my pc half an hour to produce that list. :-\
Current post number is 1107. Boardnation was 270.
1107-837-270=0. I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong. Do I need October 25, 2003? Oh, and I also made posts on the old-old-old forum, is that what you mean when talking about the YaBB forum? Anyway, if I substract even those (whatever number they were), I go to negative! Hmmm. :-X
* copycat is in dire need of another (more recent) pc to produce the (All-)list faster.
All I need is the number of posts I had when I got to this forum, I can then go from 750 to that number, and that will approximately be my missing posts. See, I already calculated I should have either been a PW, or close to it. I was thrown back to being a Great Oracle, (that's also something I remember), but not how many posts that Great Oracle had.

Copycat -
I listed your posts... It was 845 (not including the boardnation temp forum), of which 580 made after Dec 25. So, 845 - 580 = 265 and that should be your pre-crash count  :)
"Never argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Yonkey

Storm calculated it right.  I just checked and your vBulletin total was 261, then you made 4 posts on the YaBB forums, so 265 is your pre-crash total, copycat.   :)

Oh yeah, in case you're wondering: Storm, your vBulletin total was 426 and oldbushie's is 422.

So one last time: your current post count =

YaBB CGI posts + vBulletin posts + Boardnation posts + YaBB SE posts   ;D

If dates help you:
YaBB CGI = June 9, 2002 - February 7, 2003
vBulletin = February 8, 2003 - June 27, 2003
Boardnation = September 29, 2003 - October 26, 2003
YaBB SE = October 27, 2003 - present

Those numbers still seem off to me... my pre-crash count is 733, but we had the whole "race for the Powerful Wizard title" a little while before the crash, and as far as I can recall I got the title but didn't make that many posts after that - I don't believe I even passed 1000. That would mean I lost even less than 300 posts... could I have been posting so little? a mere 100 posts a month? :-\
However, that's not counting the lost posts from the YaBB CGI board... now that's definately 1500  ;D

Oldbushie -
How come your pre-crash be only 422? weren't you the one to beat me on that "race for Powerful Wizard" we had back then? It's hard to believe I made only 17 posts in the time it took you to make 228  ???

Your race for Powerful Wizard occured after June 27th.  Cuz you guys both had the Royal Heir title at the time of the crash (not even Great Oracle there).  I remember you not posting a lot once u found out the title Storm.  Did you ever make it to the Powerful Wizard level (750)?

Don't forget, that 733 includes your YaBB cgi posts.  If you subtract those posts from there you should get 426.

RIGHT!! you added the posts from the first YaBB forum after the crash! I completely forgot about that ::) Now everything makes sense ;D

I did make it to Powerful Wizard back then, a little after Oldbushie IIRC. I think my post count back then was a little less than his, so I also have something like 450-500 missing posts  8)

Now, can I demand my lost posts from the first YaBB forums as well?  ;)
