Ok, so here's the question...do I buy it on Amazon, or do I go to a Barnes & Noble the day after the release (I don't know the area well enough to feel comfortable going to a midnight party) and risk that it might be more than the $20.99? I DO have a gift card... *is debating*

Hmm... I asked my mom, she said she didn't think the price would be up, there's too much competition, so I'd say go to B&N since you have a gift card.

awesomeasapossum

I'm going night of. I read somewhere though that because the prices are so low mom-and-pop bookstores can't compete and aren't going to make any business off of it.

We've got a book reserved at the local Borders and my mom and I are going. I'm 75% sure my friend and her mom are going too (I haven't asked, but I still bet they'll go.)

It's almost 50% off on Amazon, you get a $5 gift certificate for their site, and you're guaranteed to get it release day or its free. :D

Although, admittedly, I don't know if anywhere else has a better deal as I haven't looked. :P
If you are buying it with something else to get the price over $25 then the shipping is free. I've never payed shipping yet. (That I can remember?)

Just found this. Do they have Deluxe version of the ohers too?
Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Deluxe

Stretching sorry.

Thanks in advance Koko.  ;D

Edit: Fixed! Thanks Koko. It's not stretching now. I have to memorize how to do that.

I was looking at that earlier today. Wonder how much more it is?
Nevermind, I found this while searching for the covers:

Quotehas a suggested price of $65 (already discounted to $39 at amazon.com).

I think I'll stick with the normal edition. :P

Looking at this site, it look like only 5, 6, and 7 have deluxe versions like that.

:o I had never seen the deluxe versions of 5 and 6 before, I like them better...

I guess when I'm out to see Order of the Phoenix in the theater on Wednesday night, I'll preorder it from a store, but probably not pick it up till daytime. At 25, and alone, I'd definately feel weird going to a midnight release.

I've been to every midnight release since I've been interested in the books (which, granted, is only the 5th and 6th ones.) XD

Hey, I'm 24 and been to the last two midnight releases with friends. Granted, now that I'm up North working for this month, I'm alone, so I won't be making it to the midnight release this time.

I went last year.

I want to go to the midnight showing of OotP tonight! I've never been to a midnight showing of any movie before!

Rebecca and I wanted to go to the midnight showing, but there's a curfew here that if you're under 18 like she is, you have be with someone 21 or over, and I'm only 19. >:(

Rosella

I want to go to the midnight showing too, but I don't feel like waiting in line for ages to get a ticket. Besides, I don't think my mom particularly wants to go, since she has work tomorrow. :P

I'm on the verge of suggesting to my friend Ben that we go to the midnight showing tonight...maybe.
I've been to the midnight showings of the following:
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (I was only 16, but thankfully had an adult to go with...plus it was a school night....Lord was I sleepy)
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Took me a few viewings to decide it's my least favorite Potter movie though...Still like it, it's just the weakest)
The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (There were no midnight showings of the other two, for some reason...I definately would have gone...I saw Fellowship 5 or 6 times in the theater)

At first I couldn't stand PoA (the movie,) but it actually grew on me. Maybe it's because I'm a Harry/Hermione shipper at heart and the movie gives me a bunch of moments to squee at, but I actually like it a lot. XD The first two movies stuck to the book, but were pretty bland. The 3rd and 4th were really well done and fun to watch, I think.

I'm going to OotP tomorrow at 4:40. Hopefully we can discuss it tomorow in anticipation for DH.

I think there's alot of bashing of the first two movies of late cause they were specifically made to be closer to the books cause it was alot more possible with the books being shorter (and alot more little kid friendly) AND the books really started going down the path of darkness since book 3 and got longer and so it takes more accomplished filmaking to cut down the books from the 3rd on into films. The one thing that really concerns me about Order of the Phoenix is, it's the longest book (thus far anyway, I'm not sure if Deathly Hallows is longer or not) and somehow, it's the SHORTEST movie. I know for a fact they cut out a few of the fun moments (like Weasley is Our King, or any Quidditch at all) and I'm just afraid they left nothing but the main plot in, and therefor there's alot less humor. And even though it was dark, there was still alot of humor to book 5, so if the movie has few laughs, it'll be a bit dissapointing.

Bah, as far as that goes, Ron should be with Hermione, duh. :P JK has even been quoted as saying so.

Not sure what my plans are yet. I want to go get the book with my friend, but we aren't sure if we can do that yet. I should decide soon.

So... anyone want to take a STAB at who dies? *guffaws at her really bad joke*

PirateKingChris

I've thought Hagrid would die since book 5....since he hasn't yet, maybe he won't. (Now that I've said it, he's doomed  :P )
As much as I don't want anyone too, especially with Bill already badly injured, I suspect a Weasley family member could die, and I don't mean Ron. I really don't want any of them to die, but especially the twins. They're one of the best parts of the series, as far as humor goes.
