I thought it was quite good  but then I haven't read the fifth book yet.

The only part I didn't like was that...

The 3D part only lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. :(

(You didn't think I was going to say anything about the movie already and spoil it for you did you? :suffer: not yet at least. )

Bah, as far as that goes, Ron should be with Hermione, duh. :P JK has even been quoted as saying so.

Ya those two do seem right together.

I know Ron and Hermione will end up together (I DID read HBP, btw, :P) and I wish them the best of luck, especially with all of the chemistry in the 5th movie... XD I just see myself as a very Hermione-like person, and I like Harry better. ::) I'm not one of those delusional H/Hr shippers. :P

Well, I saw the movie today with my parents! I cried...a lot. I'm sure everyone who's read the book knows why. :P

I thought the movie was VERY good. It was really involving and there was still humor in it. I mean, it's pretty dark, but some of the lines were great. XD And of course, we see the Weasley twins, how CAN'T it be funny? :P Umbridge is portrayed wonderfully (I was afraid when reading the books that they wouldn't be able to make us hate her enough.) Honestly, it was just a great movie.

I laughed; I cried; I laughed WHILE crying. It was awesome. Go get tickets. :P

You remind me of Hermione a lot, especially the Hermione  in this movie.

I was actually disappointed. It wasn't a bad movie but I thought that if you hadn't read the book it wouldn't have made much sense. I thought that the 5th book was really cinematic and I easily could see how I would've made this movie. I thought that there were parts that were left out that shouldn't have been and parts that should've been left out that were'nt. I think this movie would've been much better if it was 3 hrs. It fell short of my expectations which were very high. (That's what I get for reading many reviews on it.) I thought that the visual style (not the effects, the cinemtography, although FX were good too!) was excellent and there were some shots that were VERY VISUALLY APPEALING. (If you are kind of thinking that I'm a little  :stars: :raf: right now, I don't blame you, it's just that I'm really into movies. XD)

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it there was only one REAL thing that bothered me and that was
Sirius' death. It seemed so visual, so epic, so stunning, in the book. The first thing I thought of was, "This is gonna look amazing in the movie." The first thing I thought when I saw his death in the movie was, "LAAAAAME." I was TOTALLY disappointed. It was like, a really fast shot of Belatrix saying "Avada Kedavra" and then him falling into the veil and fading away. Harry's reaction was exactly what I expected, but it seemed out of place with the way Sirius' death was presented. It could just be me, I don't know.

I agree it should have been at least three hours long I'm sure it would have added more to it. four hours would have been even better. Come on LOTR did it so can they.

But I still liked it.

Actually, the veil thing was almost as I'd imagined it would be. Bella wasn't supposed to cast Avada Kedavra though...he was just supposed to fall through. :P But still, it's not like it was supposed to be a big scene. I mean, in the book Harry swore he would come right back out and start fighting again. It's like "That can't mean he's dead...right? So...why isn't he coming back? What happened? Sirius? Sirius!?!" I thought they handled it really well. Also, they way they built up Harry's and Sirius's relationship...really well done, even if it made me sob. :P
And I'm honored I remind you of Hermione! :D

Though one thing did annoy me...(Only a spoiler if you haven't read the book)
The way they didn't focus on Neville as much. I mean...his story is almost as bad as Harry's, and they just kinda left most of it out. What they put in was sweet though.
And HOW come we didn't get to talk about Neville's plant I can't spell!? You could see it when they get off the train...I'm convinced it must be a deleted scene. XD
I think it is bigger than they made it. He falls and it's almost in slow-motion, then he falls through the veil.

The scene you speak of, to me, was better in the movie, than the book. In the book it wasn't emotional enough to me. I was like, "That's it? What happened!?" when I first read it.

But anyway, the movie actually SURPASSED my expectations. I'd read some "professional" reviews the last few days before the movie came out and they were all making bad puns about the magic being gone from Harry Potter and saying it just wasn't like the others in a bad way. I got concerned hearing these reviews, but they were flat out wrong. I don't think these reviewers ever learned to read and just don't "get" Harry Potter if they think OotP was bad.

By the way, wasn't Evanna Lynch flat out PERFECT as Luna? Holy crap she was good.

And Umbridge was absolutely fantastic.  XD I think that they could've done more with the characters though, the actors were all great and even the main ones didn't get as much screen time as they could've if it was 3 hrs.

Yes it still shouldn't have been the shortest movie considering the length of the book, but they did an amazing job not making it seem like they cut alot out. I'm sure they could have put more bits in by just expanding the movie what, like 20 minutes even.

Now SHE did and absolutely superber job of making me hate her character. ;D

You got to love that Wesley twins scene too. :cesar: :raf:

I would have liked to see them work Joe Cho's character more. They just left that hanging. Was it that way in the book?

Don't remember a Joe. And since it's been a while since I've read the book, I'll probably not notice which parts they didn't add to the film XD

Sorry Joe was supposed to be Cho. ;]
I have only read the first two books so she hasn't popped up yet and I though they were saying Joe not Cho. I think she comes in the fourth book, right?

Yep. Her character is more expanded in the books. Well, at least Harry's relationship with her is. And in the book, they didn't really leave it hanging.
After a disasterous date, Cho yells at him and runs out crying, and they stop talking or even making eye contact. "Wanting to impress Cho seemed to belong to a past that was no longer connected with him."
I recently reread all of them and of course stopped with the 6th one so I was mixing up smaller plot elements. XD I was like, wait is this where Ginny and Harry start going out? And I was like, why isn't Harry tailing Malfoy?

Cho and Cedric are actually introduced in the 3rd book, on their house's quidditch team...though saddly I forget which one that is....Ravenclaw?
