Finally finished my book for school a couple weeks ago, and turned in the journal we had to write about it yesterday. So glad that's done. :P

Right now I'm still finishing Raymond Feist's long series. On Exile's Return right now, then 4 more books after that. :D

Deloria

I liked that one. DO NOT see the movie though! Yuck!

Rereading the Sword of Truth series. Want to get as far as I can in the first book before the miniseries that's based on it starts on Nov 1st :D :D

It's funny how you find you enjoy your life when you're happy to be alive.

I was going to read that until I found he decided more books; for now I'm going to wait until the entire series is out to read them.

I've decided to make that a general rule; otherwise, I end up rereading a series each time the next book comes out, and I never read anything new. :P

Nebel

I'm now reading Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka (and also the Star Wars ultimate visual guide :P).

That was a very bizarre story (The Metamorphosis, not Star Wars :))

That's part of the Genesis of Shannara series, right? I kinda want to read it, but I haven't read the Word and Void books yet, and I'm not sure if I need to. :P

You don't NEED to, but I'd recommend it. I thought Word and Void was very good.

I intend to read the Shannara series at some point; might just take a long while for me to get to it. :P

Jafar

Go easy on the first book when you do. :P A lot of people just write it off as a LOTR ripoff. Most of the similarities are exaggerated though, and his later books have pretty much nothing in common.

EXACTLY, Jafar. I'm glad someone understands...Alot of people are really mean about Sword of Shannara and it's pretty darn good for a lawyer who quit to write a fantasy novel on a whim :P

I know, right? I mean, sure, there was some inspiration, but back when it was written, wasn't LOTR pretty much the only "epic fantasy" around? :P

And I always hate it when people are like "derr, Allannon = Gandalf, Flick = Samwise", etc. :P
I mean, most of the characters compared have barely anything in common.

The worst part is probably how they dismiss the first book as a ripoff and don't even give the others a chance though. The rest of the books have a ttoally different feel to them.

Oh, and Shea > Frodo. :P

Same here. I bought several of the Shannara series in HB off Ebay but have far too many things to read before I get to it.

This is probably going to sound like heresy, but I think book Gandalf isn't as cool as Allannon...I just...I saw the movie Fellowship of the Ring before I read the book, and Tolkien, I'm sorry, he just reads BORING. And Shea IS better than Frodo :P

The metamorphosis indeed is a strange story. The other stories were strange too, though :P

Now reading The remains of the day by Kazuo Ishiguro. I've seen the movie some years ago, so :)
