Interesting...

I really don't like 1st person 3D games, but sounds like this could be very cool!

Rick_Florez

Dont' worry its not first person.  The game screens are going to look exactly like those in the Inventory preview.

It should also be noted that all those images were taken from the actual set as viewed in the engine in real time. None of those were prerendered.

So does this mean that it's still a point and click game, like the first 7 King's Quests?  I hope so, because the awful time I had with the controls in "KQ8" did my head in.

Dude...  The first 7 weren't point and click.  Idiot.  I mean 5, 6, and 7, sorry.  But even the parser interface was better than KQ8 ><

Ok, the screens are pre-rendered, but is the screen division like the one in the traditional Sierra adventures (moving from screen to screen like a map) or does some screens have different camera placements, like in "Grim Fandango" for example, where stepping into some parts of the screen gives you a view of it from a differet angle?

How many times do I have to say this?  :o  There is nothing prerendered! It is ALL real time.  All we did was make sure we knew where the camera was so we can cheat some things (IE a tree can be an image on a flat polygon).  And to answer your question Storm the first part of the game will be very traditional in terms of camera angles but as we move more and more into the game we plan to do more experimental things. :)

Okay, I'm a writer and not a programmer :-[ , so I want to ask, what exactly is the difference between pre-rendered and realtime graphics? ???

I'm a writer too, but if my deductions are correct, pre-rendered means that it's just an unmoving object that's just painted on there as scenery. Real time stuff can actually move (for example, a real time tree can sway in the wind wheras a pre-rendered one cannot).

Sounds interesting, I'm looking forward to seeing how this works.

Are there any other games that use this style, that I could check out for an example?

Say
