Nice! I never hide it, but I also don't usually mention it unless the situation calls for it because it's really easy to start nasty arguments about on the internet, especially when discussing religion or politics (though this place is a lot kinder than most of the forums I've seen).
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

Since this is a a thread about The Hero, I thought I would make an observation......

There's roughly a billion songs about heroism, but I only know of six (offhand) that have the word "Hero" in the title.
"If your translation is correct, that was 'May a sleepy hippopotamus lie down on your house keys,' but you're not sure. Unfortunately, your fluency in griffin-speak is too low."

Atheism interests me.

I don't agree with it, but the theory/beliefs are very interesting to me for some reason.

After doing a bit of googling,  I'd say I fall under agnostic atheism. :P

I know a lot of agnostic athiests.

makes sense that there would be a lot actually.  No beliefs or religion to go with it so none of that to worry about. :P

I'm spiritual... but I've left "organized religion" behind when I realized (a) organized religion is SOMETIMES controlled by people who sincerely want and desire power for themselves ("In the Hands of an Angry God, for example)... Please note I said SOMETIMES and (b) never really felt what organized religion offered allowed me that spirituality that I can achieve on my own.

Plus, I have incredible faith in God... I don't align him with any specific religion... I just believe in God and that ALL religions have valuable aspects to teach about him (I also kind of believe that all religions are speaking to the SAME higher source, whether they like it or not... so, fighting religious wars are silly).

I value Jesus Christ and do believe he is a messenger of God... if not, he was at the very least, a valuable teacher and inspiration.

I live in the chapel of my mind... I meditate, I believe, and I'm spiritual. :-)

Wow, this is not really "hero's thread" is it? It's a religious discussion!

So... how about that Hero?

We've been partying in here all day, and Hero has yet to show.

We need some control!

we could always make most of these posts into a new topic.  can't you do that?  like starting with my post or haids' post on page 1.

after all this was meant to be Hero's thread.  he hasn't seen it yet though, lol.
maybe he will join in and want the discussion to continue.  never know.

I got the vibe from koko that it isn't necessarily the thread... but the topic being controversial?

I dunno, I could be wrong.

koko_99_2001

Yeah, we have a rule that's been in effect since I joined which is generally no religion, no politics. Those are two topics that just can become so argumentative pretty quickly :)

Well, luckily nothing has descended into chaos yet. Level-headed bunch on these forums.

... But ya, we better keep the dungeon door closed before we let a troll in.

Took me a sec to realize why that looked so weird to me... then I realized you actually said koko (nothing wrong with that, just catches me off guard every time, like when someone actually calls me tessspoon) :P

But yeah, I'm interested in seeing Hero's reaction to having a thread that's already almost 2 page long XD

...which, as I mentioned earlier, is why I tend not to bring them up. But I didn't know there was a rule about it here. My apologies.

Where are the forum rules, anyway?

koko_99_2001

Not a problem at all :) I just felt like the subject could go south pretty quickly. And it's a rule that we don't jump out and say "you can't talk about this!" but when we see a topic veering towards argumentative, we try to discourage it. :)

I thought there was a rule thread somewhere...let me see if I can find it.

Ditto!  ;D

I used to be a Christian in high school. I kept to myself, and did my best to avoid the stricter policies of organized religion. Then I started getting intrigued with religions from different cultures. I studied Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Taoism, Hinduism, and Shinto. While, I never became a "follower" per se, it was the actual learning process that opened my mind to religion and the perception that each religion provides. I was content as a Christian, but I wasn't looking for happiness or acceptance, I was truly looking for an explanation. Thus, I became an atheist.  ::)

Although, I'm a non-believer, I have respect for those who do believe, and would not want to take away from their faith in any way, shape, or form. Faith can do a lot for oneself, but in reality, it's the most fragile thing one can bear. There's a reason why people can get easily offended when arguing about religion. To each their own is all I can say.
