Okay, I feel a little silly here since it just seems like this should have been the easiest one to find, but after playing around for quite a while I'm still stumped.

I have:
Alexander's Strength, Silver moon, and Rosella's voice
I can't seem to find:
the salt.  I assume the description is some sort of trick, but even after some of the obscurer puzzles this one still has me looking.
I don't want a flat-out answer, but could I have a nudge here?

Also, I have run in to several bugs, some of which I've forgotten at this point.
1. First, the game crashes quite a bit when loading new areas.  I've been saving on nearly every screen just in case.
2. Second, going to the kitchen cart and trying to touch it made me get in the conversation with Shamir from Chapter 2.  Very strange.
3. Graham boarding the horse when it was up against a wall was really wonky.

One nitpick about content so far:
Personally I think the zodiac puzzle could have used more direction.  I'm ok with the way the signs were presented, but as a player I had no clue which items needed to be blessed by which combination of elements; particularly the shears.  I never would have solved this puzzle without checking the forums.  Brute forcing it would have taken days.  I'm okay with the rest of the content, just this one thing bugs.

No one's got plain old regular salt they can give you. But there is something you can get that has salt in it, you just need to figure how to get it separated out from that other thing.
Do you have something in your inventory that sounds like the final ingredient(the full name as listed on the scroll).

I must be missing an item.  I keep naturally thinking it must have something to do with the cup, which is full of fresh water at the moment.
You could mess with that type of water all day long and never get salt from it...
Is there any way to pour out the water?

EDIT: Found it... it's kind of unintuitive, but you have to pour the water out in to the ocean.

question/ guess does it have to do with
the stick and rotten tomato?
KatieHal
Yep. Just click on another body of water and Graham should pour it out (similar to how he does so with the spray bottle).

And no, it doesn't have to do with them.

Every attempt I try tells me not to kill the cup and use a less intense way. I can't think for the life of me what this less intense thing is!
Yeah, I am having the same problem here.  I also tried the classic KQ6 saltwater method, but to no avail.    I've used all my current inventory on the water.  I'm sure the solution's something simple, I just can't for the life of me figure it out!

There is direction for that puzzle. Did you look at The Four Winds?
I did, but that didn't help me identify that I needed the shears.  The flower was simple enough, though.  Something might happen if you try to cut what's necessary with them (The storybook hint didn't click with me until I had already seen that I needed the shears to be enchanted).  Again, it's just a nitpick and might just have been an issue I had, but as a game developer I like letting other developers know the twisted thought process that leads in to all kinds of weird situations.  :)
Still trying to get that salt!

Okay, I got the salt!

Anyone who reads this looking for it:
Just keep exploring different areas, you'll find it eventually.

Can't find it anywhere. Is it supposed to be lying around, or you still have to find a smaller fire source to heat the cup? Seriously, I've wasted 1,5 hours and don't see it anywhere.
Normal fire won't do for a magical cup.  If you've seen blue fire anywhere that will do the trick, if you haven't then you're not far enough into the game to get it yet.
