From bi-quadruple mammaries to cartoons not so long ago and finally to complaining about remakes.

Remaking films isn't going to destroy or violate your childhood. Worrying about it will.

It isn't even a new tradition.

Heck, the Maltese Falcon from 1941 is a remake of a remake (1936) of a movie (1931) based on a book (1930). That's two remakes in less than ten years. Ben-Hur from 1959 is also a remake of a 1925 remake which is a remake of the 1907 silent film that is based on a book. The classic A Fistful of Dollars (1963) is an italian remake of a japanese film Yojimbo (1961) that is a ripoff of Hammett's book Red Harvest (1925).

How about an example from TV? "All in the Family" is a remake of the British show "Till Death do us Part." "The Flintstones" is a cartoon remake of "The Honeymooners". 90% of all the characters from Hanna Barbera Studios are caricatures of some famous celebrity (Yogi Bear=Art Carney, Fred and Shaggy=Dobie Gillis and Maynard Krebs).

Even India has remade a film or song. Don't get me started about Turkey. In 2008 Russia released its own version of Schwarzeneggers 1985 classic Commando.

Before films people used to make remakes/reimaginings in operas and theaters. Even the Grim fairytales are remakes. People have always remade stories that they liked.

Soon to come (as long as I can get to inking this): "The Forbidden Love Triangle in the Land of Wuz Sans One or 'Hair, Hair!'".

I actually just found out today that "I Think We're Alone Now" was NOT a Tiffany  original. My world shook a little bit...but it was still there ;) (Also her version was better than the original anyways!)

Heresy! I grew up on TJ and the Shondells original! Take it back! ;)

Seriously, though, my parents had a cassette with it, and it's one of the songs I remember hearing a lot on long car trips, enough that it's permanently engraved into my head.

EDIT: Also, I just listened to her version. It's okay, I guess, but not better than the original, imo. Though I am a little jealous that she got to ride on a baggage claim conveyor; I've wanted to do that ever since I was little. ^_^
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

That doesn't count, lol. But I do like that song as well. ;)

Backtracking a bit... I miss the days when shows had dramatic music for their theme songs! Whatever happened to that? Curse you Dawson's Creek and your Dido theme music!

I can express my feeling on the matter in only one way:

"When I was young, it never rained during the summer".

[EDIT]

And just to show you how everything will always be and and always will be. An advertisement poster that I saw two hours ago at the local convenience store for a band's coming gig.
I love that they have to advertise them being a rock band in words written after the poster was printed.
Psssst--Dawson's Creek had Natalie Cole for their theme.  You're thinking Roswell, that show had Dido.  YES, I watched both shows (quite religiously)!! YES, I have Roswell Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD!!  YES, I had a fatty crush on Jason Behr!  Ya wanna fight about it?!

I watched Roswell on DVD a few years ago. Jason Behr is definitely a good looking man. :)

Fun show, although it did have some flaws.

I started the second season some time ago, and have since stopped. Not because it was bad, but because, once again, life got in the way. I plan to renew my viewership once life lets go of it's death grip on my free time.

Oh did it EVER!  The last season was totally a mishmash of whatever the crazy writers had in mind; I honestly don't think they ever had a plan as to what they were going to do for the following week's episode.

And MMM BOY, I used to pause the episode of Roswell called "End of the World" just so I could see Jason Behr's three seconds of shirtless pull-ups.

*Sigh*  The twelve year-old in me still shivers when I see that! ::)
