I just saw it, and I thought it was very enjoyable. There were some issues with the dialogue and acting, but I thought it was a pretty cool concept for a film.

Did anyone else see it?

I also just saw it last night and quite enjoyed it too. A fun movie, I think. Don't go in with high expectations, though, as I think it could easily not live up to those. Still, fun, worth matinée price IMO.

I'm glad both of you liked it - I've been wanting to see it for a while but then got a touch nervous after looking at some of the reviews.  Now I'll definitely go check it out.

I haven't read any reviews yet, I'll have to check some out.

So it would seem!

Well, here's what helped me enjoy it--I went in expecting a bunch of cool fight scenes where girls were kicking ass in all manner of fun  and highly stylized settings, and I got it. Because...that's what most of this movie is! I happened to have also expected the ending, so nothing about that got in the way of my enjoyment either. The plot is secondary to the set pieces.

Most of the action felt thin/weak. With the exception of the giant samurais and large dragon, it was mostly simple 1-hit KOs - there was hardly any struggle in it all.

True, but... (cut for details that aren't really plot-relevant, but if you don't want to know anything, don't peek)
there were loads of bad guys, even if they were one-hit minions. In those cases, it was more about the hordes than it was about the difficulty; what we were all really interested in was the big bad guy in those instances anyways. Plus, they did make the different types pretty cool--who doesn't love steampunk clockwork Nazis? Or orc-ish hordes? Or futuristic robots with lasers? I actually really enjoyed how the fight scenes kept changing up what genre they were and found that really cool.
I want to see this movie, and I never let a review sway my opinion. I read reviews for this, and they were all pretty bad, but I saw that coming. There were rumors for a while that this movie was gonna bomb in the review department. But, again, I hardly ever let a review sway me. I like to see a movie for myself and make my own opinions. For example, both Beastly and I Am Number 4 got fairly bad reviews, but I thoroughly enjoyed both. The same goes for Mars Needs Moms. I actually expected that to get good reviews, but I was quite mistaken; regardless, it's a very good movie in my opinion. That being said, I'm likely to see Sucker Punch this week sometime.

I wanna see Sucker Punch, too - or let's say I inted to do so, because I actually like Vanessa Hudgens.
(And I won't start with Reviews - they hardly reflect my opinions on films... I mean - c'mon, Wall Street 2? Seriously?)
The thing with Beastly just is that it probably won't be released in my region -.- Since I can't find it on the internet (bad me, I know) I'll probably wait for the DVD release...
