Hello and welcome to Phoenix Online's forums! If you're new here, feel free to introduce yourself and tell us a little something about yourself here! :)

Hello, I am a big fan of Kings Quest series.  Have been watching for years your development progress.
The last I followed was you were working on the Silver Lining.  Now a few years later voila  :) you have 4 episodes done.   I will be downloading these with great anticipation.   Many thanks for all the hard work in bringing this classic games to us.  Thank you for your commitment to preserving such classics  :).
I love adventure games and there are not that many being made in recent years.

Welcome! :D Were you aware that "voilà" literally means "look there"? :D I don't think people should use French in everyday language just to be fashionable. :P

....I HAVE BEEN LIED TO MY ENTIRE LIEFS! D:

Well, according to this other smart lady >> http://french.about.com/od/vocabulary/a/voila.htm <<  as everything in language it's got different purposes, sort of like an expression "Here I am!"... no? :O

Deloria is always making me google stuff! lol :P

Welcome Kokoooo! Hope you download the episodes AND let us know what you think, too :)

I think Deloria was expecting "Voilà 4 episodes done!", ie- the presentative use at Say's link.

So, the only uses for voilà (at said link) that could conceivably come up in English are 1, 3, and 5, and 3 and 5 should be set off by commas. So, for the original in question, it's number 3, but the punctuation suggests it's number 1. :scholar: (You'll find the grammatically inclined blow gaskets around the slightest ambiguities like these.)

I myself wasn't sure what error Deloria was implying at first because I was quite comfortable interpreting it as an interject (though that's a form of grammatical laziness). :o :S :-\

Welcome to the forum, Koko200!! (You've been baptized by grammatical fire... it happens. ::))

Thank you, guys! I seriously did not know (ashamed to admit I studied french for about two years, so much for that)

I think Deloria should be our forum translator officer or something like that, just as Jafar is the one to go to when you need to find a lost post :P

Let's be nice, ok?
No, no. XD You misunderstood me completely. :P I just finished watching An Education (which is all about using French to sound pretentious) and I realised that when people do this, other people will have literally no idea what you're saying and it made me die a little inside because I do that and I wanted to inform people and spread beauty and knowledge. :(

I understand that, but the new people wouldn't necessarily understand. We don't want to scare people away. :)

We need to call Mrs Reed to come clean up this mess :O (Kiiiiiiiiiiiiidding!! :P, it's pretty good!)

I seriously wish I had that education while growing up, when I learned what I did everything was because of my family, not because of school. I wish I was exposed to more languages while growing up :(

XD My high school Spanish classes consisted of a woman who had been a Missionary kid in Brazil told to teach us Spanish because "Portuguese is like Spanish, right?". Couple that with "...but I don't wanna learn Spanish..." (I had already decided I wanted to learn French, Latin, and Greek... like at least one... but I ended up being "thorough" :P), and I'm not overly surprised I didn't really retain it... but I often wish I were better at Spanish since it would help with job applications stateside (in theory).

Fun fact: When I was young I used to sprinkle glitter all over my head and hands before going to bed because I was convinced it would make me have flying dreams. :P

My nanny was very confused for a very long time. XD My parents have no right to avenge "themselves" on me and I could never make their lives adequately miserable to make up for all the many, many ways they've utterly failed at being people. :P
