- Happy I finally got something good for a scene I've been working on for the last TWO MONTHS in chapter 6 of KQ5. Thanks a lot, Delling! Thanks for giving me writers block for two months. Oh, and when I do put the chapter on here and one of your possible replies is, "I was expecting something better than that." you know what I'll say?

I'll say: Expecting a better scene? TOO BAD! WALUIGI TIME!

I'm fine, just working off annoyance. Well, that's done.

Or were you talking to Deloria?
Nobody talks to me. :( I have to pretend to be a figment to get any attention at all.

-Writing more before bed. It's coming together! :)

-Listening to Alex Clare's "Too Close" and now that I've heard it in full, I have to ask... Why in the world would you choose a song about a break-up to advertise your spiffy new speedy version of Internet Explorer?! Yes, it IS a very good song (although unless the swordfight/staff fight was supposed to be symbolic of a couple fighting, it has a strange music video. I miss the days when music videos had, y'know... Comprehensible plots instead of random scenes jumbled together) but unless the commercial is trying to say, "Sorry IE8, I need to see other browsers," I don't get it.

-Is happy that her Internet is being fixed tomorrow, and that her printer is working again.

- Eating ice cream while working on her paper and listening to the soundtrack to La Mulana. How ironic that I'm writing a paper about indie gaming becoming more popuar and I'm listening to an OST from an indie game and typing this on an indie developer's website!

- Homework done for the day. PowerPoint looks super easy, especially since the ribbon is very similar to Word in terms of features and mot of the stuff I think I eiter remember from my last computer class last semester or I could discover on my own.

- Got done watching 20 EPISODES of Dilandau3000's Let's Play of Mass Effect today! I'm finally starting on that LP series now that he's done with 3. And yes, I watched those 20 episodes in one go.

- Listening to stuff from Quest Studios thanks to my brand new SyncUP! No more tinny audio quality from my laptop.

A DAY PASSES...

- Writing my research paper final. Hey Cezar? You remember that interview with AdventureGamers where you talked about your experiences with making Cognition and The Silver Lining? I used a couple of your quotes in there! I hope you don't mind.

- Listening to Gabriel Knight music after Dilandau3000 finished GK3 today.

- Writing MORE of chapter 6 of KQ5! Yeesh, this has reached 21 pages so far! This might be my longest chapter yet!

- Listening Conquests of Camelot soundtrack. Is it just me, or does the little fanfare for when you kill one of the wild boars sound suspiciously similar to the victory/RUN AWAY! theme from the original Quest for Glory after a battle is won/run away from?

Holy sheep! 21 pages for a chapter? I couldn't write that much.

Why you ask? Because mom is going out and told me she needed someone to watch for the door. Obviously she's expecting someone. Who? That got left out.

I expect I'll be letting burglars into the house any minute. :P

- Happy that she finally figured out a rhyme for the 'Night Owl' spell in her fic.

"Let my eyes be bright, let me see all who prowl, let me not be afraid as I turn into a night owl."

Well, how's that?

And also am a tiny bit annoyed that I can't think of what a summary of Graham's First Quest would be. All I have is that he mentions, "Well, back when I was a lad there was this inn in my home town called The Prattling Pony..." and that's it.

Why am I asking for help on this, besides a nice little bit of backstory for Graham? Well, in my fic we've gotten to the point where Graham and Cedric are meeting the elves (or "The Fair Folk" as Cedric addresses them in his head) and are in their little underground community under the Dark Forest. Surely some of you know a few things about the Fay to combat them according to mythology and folklore, and I've referenced two of them already:

Equivalent Exchange. Albeit, a rather benign version of it. If Graham lets him go, he'll show him out of the forest. If Graham is going to get the shoes howeer, they both have to do something else for him. Graham (being a former knight after all) has to tell a story about one of his adventures, and Cedric has to play his flute for the elves since the leader liked it.

In fact, the way I wrote the puzzle was: Graham throws out one emerald (since it's shiny, and fairies like treasure right?), tried to grab the elf that gets it and misses as he runs back into the bushes.

He tries again, closer this time, and get the same result.

He tries one more time, dropping it right by his boots. All he has to do is bend down... the elf rushes out and grabs the emerald stabbing Graham in the leg with a sewing needle as he goes past.

But as the elf is running back to the bushes, Cedric takes out his flute and starts to play the song he'd played earlier when he was with Florica ("The Wallflowers" from KQ6! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9_yaMcME8Q&feature=related) and the elf stops running and starts dancing dropping the emerald in the process. This is the other reference to The Fair Folk mythology I put in: they love music!

As the elf is dancing, Graham puts out his honey trap, and you know what happens after that.

crayauchtin

Couple of things: I would say maybe "I shall know no fear as I transform into a night owl" -- I just think it sounds better. The second half of yours just sounds a little clumsy when I say it out loud.

As far Graham's first quest.... remember what I told you about not needing to know every single word from every single moment? You can just say what you came up with and then say, not in dialogue, that Graham told about his first quest.

Thiiiiiird.... I see what you're trying to do with the emeralds and the music, but if you have the elf grab the third gem before the honey is put down, someone has to grab the emerald *back* to put it in the honey. And the elf has to be so completely wrapped up in the music so as not to notice this at all, because even a really dumb elf is going to think something's fishy if he notices you just moved to gem while he's dancing instead of taking it back. It's another tricky spot for you.

- Watching Dilandau3000's LP of Myst 1. Just 9 more parts (not counting the three bonus endings) and I can finally move on to this so called "Riven" he speak of so often. Ah, I see that was his first LP, so I can see how one of my new favorite Let's Players began...

- Eating Lays potato chips.

- OMG! WHERE DID QUEST FOR MORE GLORY FORUMS GO?! IT'S GONE!!!  :(

-WHAT?! SPACE QUEST III ISN'T BEING MADE BY IA ANYMORE?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Space Quest II was actually the game that got me to trust you guys, and think "Huh! They might not be such a bad company after all!" So... I guess that To Be Continued at the end, might as well say "...Never."
