Beautiful cat, but... Is it just me or the throwing back at like 1:10 was a bit too much? that one didn't sound so nice.

Some of you may know, I've got dogs. And my cocker spaniel experienced some nasty spine problems due to a bad fall, he loves to jump off high places and one day his poor back didn't support him as he thought it always would. This was back in 2009, he's doing much better now but I still don't let him climb anywhere because of this.

I may be a bit weird but, I do think animals are to be treated with a tad bit more of care.

Why would someone want to torment a cat like that? The whole thing seems inappropriate to me - the cat is clearly unhappy and the person keeps provoking it. >:(

This really isn't funny. :( But, what I also notice is that the cat has clearly been trained to react this way. It gives a warning screech and then if the hand doesn't do what it expects, it attacks. It's far too choreographed. *cuddles kitty* We won't let teh meanie hovering hand knock you around no mores! >:(

What a beautiful cat. :( I agree, he threw her back way too hard at 1:10. :( This is so sad.

I dunno, I've interacted with plenty of cats who simply do not like things in front of their faces. I don't think it has much to do with training and everything to do with "Please get your hand out of my face" and if not "I will get your hand out of my face."

And yeah, that noise is heartbreaking. The sliding across the wood floor is probably not hurting anyone since it seems so frictionless, but you can clearly hear something hit the ground and that's really, really painful to hear. :(

I imagine it varies from cat to cat. :cat: :P Because we had a neighbor's cat that used to hang around our house that if you put your hand out in front of her, she'd just brush her head against it like: "Aww... you can't reach me for petz, iz ok, I maek petz" (weirdly enough, you could like guide her around like that... just hold your hand out and keep moving, etc. :P She was a cute kitty. :cat:)

Way too much. It pained me to watch it. That cat clearly warned he or she didn't like the hand to its face. And the noise when it fell startled me too.

Aww. <3 All my cats have done this, apart from Killer. And Space. Space was aloof. :( It also lets them guide your hand and make you pet them where they want to be petted. :P

Wait, whaaaaaa...? lol!

Erwan Fichou's photos of dedicated dog owners features the happy pet owners wearing clothing made out of their own dogs' fur.

The fur was brushed and collected over time and then knitted into sweaters. I guess the fur would have otherwise gone to waste... but would YOU be willing to wear a sweater made out of your pet's loose fur?

That noise is over-echoed and amplified by the crappy mic on the camera - cats (and animals) are much, much heartier and tougher than people think.  There's a difference between abuse and playing - and that is clearly not abuse in any measure.  My in-laws cats will do the same thing somedays - meow and scream when you put your hand up like that, other days, they rub their head into your palm and purr.  Sometimes they're just playing.  It's not like she picked the feline up by the tail and swung her like a battle axe.  I know we all love animals, but there is such a thing as being over sensitive.

I had to look again, but I think you're the only one to mention the word abuse in this thread. Unless you meant over at the source, in youtube?

Personally, I dislike that kind of play - cats or dogs, but I believe cats are way more flexible than dogs so it's just a personal thing anyways. My poor dogs are also old now haha, so I must be extra careful with them :)

Yeah, sorry - people on YouTube were screaming abuse....

Yeah, animals can play rough - they're domesticated beasts... I'm not saying you should throw them around, but they are incredibly tough.  My dogs are Boston Terriers, and they're a smaller breed, but man - you should see the acrobatics they do!

Old Dogs, of course, like to just curl up and sleep a lot.  And I like to pet their heads and back as they do.... heh.  My friend has a 15 year old mutt, who just loves to lay around.  I envy him.  He's quite awesome.

Yeah, this isn't abuse at all.  Our cats do the same sort of thing with our stick toys or my sweetie's feet.  If it was angry, you'd hear it hiss or growl.  This cat's meow sound kind of like my Fae's meow, kind of whiny.

Oh, no, that obviously wasn't abuse but I still didn't like watching it. Some cats like to play rough like that, but my kitties have always like to play a little game called SNUGGLES.

lol when returning to this thread for some reason I read the title as "Animal Powers" and here I was ready to post I want the power of "not giving a damn" that cats seem to have :P

Not all cats have that power.  Mine instead spent their points on the ability to steal an entire pair of pants.
