Wonderful to read more about you, Clau!

That Banshee is awesome-scary. And if I remember correctly, you did the faces for the Spirit of Nature as well, yes? Which are also beautiful of course :)

Yes, Katie, I got to do lots of fun things. Trees, zodiac people, village woman, Graham's horse, all super fun for me. I will always cherish this great group of people, our games, and the delight that being part of it all has brought to me.  :smitten:

Welcome back RusseM. We are working on Ep 5, but it takes time when the team focused on that is mostly volunteer and working in their free time. We've gotten some great progress this summer, though. :)

Patience, Iago! (One of my favorite Disney quotes.)

For today's TSL Team Tuesday, we have Heather, who is one of our artists!

Name: Heather Smith

Location: Chicago, IL

Role on the team: Artist

Occupation: 2d artist and animator, I do freelance and occasional graphic design, mostly for games/apps.

What skills do you have? Digital painting/drawing, animating,

How long have you been on the team? Since February 2012

How did you first hear about The Silver Lining? I think I saw it mentioned in an article on a blog somewhere, but I can't remember which one.

What made you decide to join? I had played the Silver Lining a long while ago and I remember there was a volunteer page, so it was in the back of my head to maybe join for about a year. When I had a little extra time last year after graduating I decided to give it a try. I liked the idea of drawing specifically for the King's Quest world, which was filled with a lot of fantasy and fairy tales, and I've joined a few volunteer projects before and it's great to get motivation to complete stuff by being on a team.

What's your first King's Quest memory? I remember liking the cover box to King's Quest 7 in the store when I was a kid, since I really liked Disney and Don Bluth style art and I thought it was similar. My parents didn't get me it, though, they only bought me educational games (or if it had Star Trek in it, that was ok too). I ended up playing Kings Quest 1 on DOSbox when I was old enough to figure that stuff out.

Favorite KQ game and why? Probably 4 or 6. I liked playing Rosella as the protagonist in 4 and I liked all the fairy tale characters they included. 6, though, I mostly enjoyed the world that was set in and I loved the art in that game. The Isle of Mists and Chessboard Land are my a few of my favorite places.

What's it like to work on The Silver Lining? It's great. Everyone is very supportive and they provide great feedback and encouragement. Everyone works together very well, which is rare sometimes. It's like the best alternative to art/game design school, without needing to pay tuition.

How have you grown professionally and personally since joining Phoenix Online? I'm working much faster than I used to, and I'm more confident in my drawing and painting skills. I would never have touched environment drawing before joining.

What's your favorite piece you've done for POS/Four Winds? Oppi's Jewelry shop for the Hassan and Graham Radio show. I'm still figuring out my art style, but that one really felt like I was figuring out what I was doing painting/style wise. I also like the storyboards for TSL, but ep 5 isn't out yet.

Favorite non KQ game? Portal 1 and 2, Fallout 3, The Longest Journey, The Walking Dead adventure game, Persona 3/4, Final Fantasy 7 and 9, Chrono Trigger, I'll toss the Professor Layton games in there too while I'm at it.
What are you currently playing?
I'm going through The Longest Journey: Dreamfall Chronicles right now and World of Warcraft sometimes.

It's Team Tuesday again, folks. Remember Sylver from the Hassan and Graham show? She's voiced by the multi talented RoAnna Mitchell. RoAnna has brought a liveliness to the team that only she can.

Name: RoAnna "Sylver" Mitchell

Location: Portland, OR

Role on the team: Regular author, artist, singer and songwriter for the Four Winds and the Graham and Hassan Radio Hour, concept artist for The Silver Lining, and the voice of a new character in episode 5. I also make silly jokes in meetings, which everyone finds hilarious. Especially me.

Occupation: College student - performing/visual arts major, psychology minor. Also a published short fiction author, singer and voice actor.

What skills do you have? Lots of experience with creative writing, digital painting, singing and voice acting. Aside from that I'm also a musical theatre performer/dancer, play the piano and guitar, and am teaching myself Mixcraft 6 for creating and mixing my own music. And like my minor suggests, I'm fascinated by psychology and have experience with crisis therapy and counseling. I like helping people feel better, and emotional expression is one of the best ways of doing that. Psychology and the arts often go hand in hand.
How long have you been on the team? Since 2010, I believe.

How did you first hear about The Silver Lining? Don't remember, exactly. I was aware of it before joining the team - I might have even played a very early Episode 1. It was probably initially through my regular browsing through the interwebs, seeing if anyone was doing things in my obscure fandoms. Fortunately, they were!
What made you decide to join? An ad on DeviantART - something called the Four Winds needed an artist. I needed experience and exposure, and couldn't think of a single better thing than drawing 'fanart' for something I adored, so here I am!

What's your first King's Quest memory? Hysterically crying when I was four years old, trying to type "SWIM" before Graham drowned in KQ2. It gave me an incentive to learn to type, that's for sure!
Favorite KQ game and why? Six and Seven, definitely. Six for its... everything, really. There's a reason it's the fan favorite. The art, atmosphere, music, voice acting, I love everything about Makes the Heart Go Yonder (especially the Dangling Participle). Girl in the Tower is on my iPod, and is actually one of my most-played songs! And I love VII for many of the same reasons. I know a lot of people might not be that fond of the whimsical style and Disney-ish tendencies, but... I love me some whimsy, and royal ladies kicking butt and having adventures just rocks.

What's it like to work on The Silver Lining? I honestly sometimes have to pinch myself. I mean that entirely sincerely - I never thought I would ever get to be a part of this universe, unofficially or not. I've loved the King's Quest world and stories since I was a wee child, and now I get to actually draw, write, act and sing things that are part of the stories I grew up adoring? That's just more than I could ever ask for. I think the highest point for me so far was covering A Land Beyond Dreams from VII, and actually getting to write a new verse for the song - that was just surreal-ly amazing. Singing is definitely how I show love the most, and I've just been overjoyed that the things I make are wanted here. <3 Everything I do has love in it. I just have so much KQ love, and all these are ways I try to show that.

How have you grown professionally and personally since joining Phoenix Online? I've definitely gotten to be a better artist - the wonderful feedback, encouragement and critiques from the Four Winds team is to thank there. I feel like I know how to work with others better in a team setting too, how to collaborate on creative things, take direction and work toward a goal. Braver, too. I've learned I can handle more than I thought. I feel like I need to give producer Adrienne Elliott a special THANK YOU here. She's been like my mentor ever since I joined, and I so appreciate her help and attention. I never would have gotten this far without her.

What's your favorite piece you've done for POS/Four Winds? I've done lots of Four Winds art and writing that I love, but I especially had fun with the TSL concept art. Seeing my art made 3D by the wonderfully talented animators on the team is just ridiculously cool! But nothing compared to getting to be the voice of a character in the game. If giving art and writing was a dream, giving my voice was... beyond dreams. (Oh gosh that was really corny but you get the idea!)

Favorite non KQ game? Betrayal in Antara: the Sierra spiritual successor to Betrayal at Krondor that nobody liked but I really liked and will talk forever about why it's great, so don't even get me started. I also love Hotel Dusk: Room 215, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Jazz Jackrabbit, classic adventure games (Kyrandia, Laura Bow, Monkey Island), and the occasional Final Fantasy (mostly Tactics).

What are you currently playing? That implies I have time for games, ha! But the last time I checked, I'm on one of many Mass Effect playthroughs. (I always end up Paragon though. I can't even be mean to game people.) Also, I'm not sure it counts as a game, but I'm pretty obsessed with Zombies, Run!

Wait... the voice of Fand? The one who made The Candle?

That's going to be a sight to see! She's trapped in the Dream World, isn't she?!

Oops, I was supposed to edit that part out. Nothing to see here. *zips lips*
