I can't be the only one who finds the idea of having stand-in props in cutscenes really funny, am I? Like, instead of people, they're coat racks or potted plants?

Apologies for the lack of updates. No news is no news. Various hiccups here and there.

The temp thing I mentioned is wrapping up. As are a number of POS/POP items. Not a day goes by that Rich doesn't say "We might be able to finally put some time into TSL and [REDACTED]." So even with Cesar disappearing again (he's like a pleasant smell sometimes >_>), hopefully more will start moving.

Again, apologies. And do try to keep the thread on topic, hmmk?

We don't go quite that silly but we'll make sure to take some in-dev screenshots for a post-mortem.

Welcome home, Chury!  :) There is no reason to apologize.

Is there a hidden Suffer in TSL5?

Could you record and publish an one-minute-video with the current appearence (a teaser or kinda)?

Pet peeve of mine: People NEVER check the forums anymore, so therefore everyone automatically assumes that the designers abandoned TSL episode 5 and talk s*** about the company for it.

I *really* want to rant about the people who hate on the company just because you're being so slow with TSL's last episode. Calling you guys Pieces of s***, acting very bitter about the wait, saying that you have no respect for your fans, that five years is unacceptable...

Do these people not realize that it took ten years for this game to come out at all?! That telling the designers stuff like that is very discouraging to them, making them, y'know, NOT want to work on the episode at all? That people have lives outside of game design and TSL makes them no money, so it has to be on the backburner because they need to eat and pay bills and stuff? That there's no one team working on all the games and complaining to everyone is useless because some people aren't and have never worked on TSL? That it takes time to move EVERY asset you've made over the past decade to a completely different engine, which is/was bound to take awhile? That complaining about the wait is doing NOTHING to help make it go faster and, in fact, making things worse?!

I got your back, GR.

Sorry, I just... needed to get that off my chest. Saw someone on your FB page in your latest post saying stuff like that, and I linked him this very page and yet he didn't think it was good enough. I so wanted to blow up on him and tell him what I said above, but I'm afraid of starting a big argument there.

At least here you guys understand my frustration.

FB page? What's that?

I just finished my first playthrough, and I have to agree. I couldn't ask for a better ending. Well, it will be perfect when all the stand-in props, etc. are replaced with the real things.
Did you find the hidden Suffer of TSL5?
No, I didn't. I had forgotten about that - there was supposed to be one.

While I have logic-ed in a...different... easter egg, we don't have a suffer figured out yet. I have a few ideas for where to put him though.

KatieHal

I'll have to take a look at which Suffer is due for this episode, I know we had one and I think a place in mind to hide him.

I seem to remember someone brought up it was the Voodoo Suffer, though that could have changed since then.

Not for me. Too quick. I haven't enough time.  :(

Very good memory, GR! 3 points for you:  Thanks to GR I've found your post (Katie) about the Suffers.

Thanks to everybody for your entries. Cool people.

This is the thread for official TSL updates.

I last gave a major update in March, which you can read here.

Today, I have some good news: we can actually play through all of Episode 5 from front to back!

Now this is far from saying it's DONE--just that we have enough of the logic and placeholders in there such that it's possible to get from start to finish, and that logic is all working right now. There's still a ways to go, but that we can actually play through the whole thing is definitely a big step.

Our current percentages stand at:

  • Game logic and programming: 95%
  • Props: 80%
  • Backgrounds: 70% (without polish)
  • Cinematics: 55%
  • Characters: 30% (including uprezzing and rigging)

So, good job team, and keep tuning in for more updates!

Can we get an update?

It's been almost a year already? Darn.

Well if you've been reading this thread, you'll know that almost everything has been inching along. I think I'd say only Characters hasn't had enough work to bump it's percentage. Not that people haven' been working on characters, just nothing finalized and in-game yet.

The rest you can bump up a few points.
Game logic & programming: 97%
Props: 98%
Backgrounds: 70%
Cinematics: 63%

hmm. oh yeah, Backgrounds are still in a sort of limbo. We know we have to do them but director stuff/camera stuff have to come first.

Thans for the report.  :)
What about the lines of dialogue? Are all of them scripted or it depends on the other incomplete stuff?

I would like for Jason Victor and Amy Kurilo to repeat in TSL5. Is it possible? I love the confrontations between Jason/Graham and Amy/Narrator. My favourite is when Graham picks up some ocean water (3:08) from the Isle of Wonder.

ADIOS!

Have you begun testing the 'Unity 5' version of TSL5? Are there important differences with the previous version from your POV (tester and player)?

KatieHal

All of the dialogue is recorded for the episode--possibly one character has some more lines to record, I think, but it's at least 90% done and recorded. Jason Victor is indeed returning as Graham, although, alas, Amy Kurillo was not available to return as the narrator. However, we took the opportunity to do something a little different with the narration that I think people will enjoy. :)

Awwww! :( I actually really liked Amy!

*wonders about narrator* Hmmm... first person narrative ala the new game?
