Well... I think women should get equal opportunities to try to reach their full potential and try for things they want to do and will make them happy. They should get equal compensation for equivalent work. And I think women should feel strong, be able to be independent (they don't necessarily have to "be independent" if they don't want to, just know how to be if they ever need to), and have control of their own lives.

But, I think women should get equal negative consequences if they slack off, or can't do their jobs properly because they didn't go for a job that really fits them, or whatever. I've known a few women who were like, "OMG, you fired me/docked my pay because I'm a woman!" and it was a situation where it was really, "No, they fired you/docked your pay because you're a horrible worker, get a clue." :P

And I obviously don't hate men! <3 I like it when guys think I'm good-looking. Granted, I wouldn't date a guy who only cared about my looks, because, you know, what are you going to do the rest of the time looks don't matter, if ya know what I mean? (wink) But I'm not going to get pissy because a guy makes comments.

And I like making men happy. If a guy likes it when I do something or other, I'll do it to put a smile on his face. I'll get annoyed if it seems obvious a guy is just trying to take advantage of me, but a nice guy I'll give lots of <3 to. ;)

And I don't get into that "women are superior to men" crap. Women are biologically inclined to be better at some things, just like men are biologically inclined to be better at some things. It all balances out. And there's lots of overlap anyway.

As for being protected, or having someone take care of you, or whatever... I believe in a relationship of any sort, all participants should contribute whatever they are best at. If I can't fight, and I'm going to get my butt kicked somehow, and some guy wants to protect me, I'm not going to complain! ;) And, for instance, if a couple feels that it works best in the end for the man to go out and work and the woman to stay home, and watch the kiddies, and maybe do community work or volunteer instead or whatever, that's cool. Or if a man wants to stay home and watch the kids and the woman goes off to work... whatever works.

Just as long as a woman doesn't feel forced to do anything... she has all options available and can look at them and say "This one works best for me." I guess that's what it boils down to.

I admit I don't like being spoiled, but that's just a personal thing, not a feminist thing. I don't like getting anything I feel like I didn't earn.

So "militant feminists" always kind of bug me. It's like, no men don't cause all our problems, and no we wouldn't be better off without them. And no, women aren't superior, just like men aren't. ("Equal but different" I think is the operative phrase.) And yes, people do joke around and flirt and stuff. If someone does something that bugs you, just tell them politely it bothers you. If they won't stop, then ask someone in authority to help. No different than if it was a woman being non-sexually rude. And getting upset over a physical gesture that was obviously not meant sexually... please. I got a lot worse than tapped on the shoulder during my childhood!

Finally, I think women who are obviously playing the "feminist card" just for free license to do whatever they want need a swift boot in the butt.

So... another long thought process from Yours Truly. ;P That's my own personal take on being a feminist. ;) I don't know if anyone else feels that way, it's just how I feel.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Wow, Jeysie, that was long and well-thought out. Too early in the morning for me to read serious opinions though, I'll reread it some other  time and post something constructive. :P

I have no objection to anything in Jeysie's post, and yet, I'm clearly not a feminist. XB

Jeysie, that was awesome!  I agree with all that you said in that post.  That was really brilliant and I really appreciate you pouring your heart out to us.  It gives me some hope in the world even though this hope is a dim and small little sky blue/green flame.  (My favorite colors)

Kimmie, how can you promate male slavery even in a joking way?  Now, hypothetically what kind of guy would I be if I had the logo "Promoting Female Slavery" (P.F.S.) especially in regard to the crazy radical militant feminist that in my opinion are setting back the clock for all women and oppressing male dominion because they think men suck.  Do you hate me? If that is the case I still have God's love which covers and protects me as a shield and that is all I really need.   >:(   :X   :S

aw dew, i dont hate u..i dont even know you  :suffer: i found the slogan on a tshirt whilst browsing in the shops with no money...i tried on the tshirt and it fit  :o but...i had no money...i really dont know why i torture myself like that!

annnnnyway P.F.S wouldnt be the same as P.M.S which in this case is a double entendre...you see when men like to insult women by saying *oh its pms* or *its thats time of the month* it quite frankily pithes most women off...so by using PMS the tshirt in my opinion is getting back at the male gender. Now this is only one way inwhich you could look at it. and final not...im not a feminist i just think men should be put in their place once in a while  ;D

Thanks for the explanation.  I do feel better.  I am not black but I think that many of my black friends would find that final comment to be racist even if you mean it in a joking way.  Heck, Africans were slaves for hundreds of years and it still is painful for them just like September 11, 2001 pains me and all Americans to this day.  Heck, I am starting to get depressed and I no longer want to dwell on this topic.  Have a nice day and thanks for the hug.   ;)

ok, now i feel reeeeeaaaaallllllly bad   :'( so i shall go take this off my name...and cry  :'( i didnt mean it to be offensive...it was the tshirts fault...i dont think my black friends would say anything about it...coz it wasnt meant in that way, it was more of a women getting back at men thing...im sorry every1  :'(

i was seeing the "slave" as sex slave...but thats just the jokey way inwhich i tried to put over, i never thought about it in that way  :( i suppose ur right and i retract that statement...

but hopefully most of u guys know by now what im like, u know i would never want any1 to feel bad or think i was being racist coz damn me to hell forvever if i was...i hav too many friends who come from all different races to know that racism is the worst thing in the world. u know my little kinky comments crop up everywhere, and this was all that it was, a kinky comment found on a tshirt

I think that slavery bit might've been taking it a bit too far.  It's not like Africans were the only people ever to be made slaves.  In fact, a lot of the African-Americans I know would have been more offended at people thinking they're *that* sensitive to things than at the phrase itself.
Just for an example, my schools team name has been "Rebel" forever, and recently there's been this controversy about whether or not its racist because of the Confederacy having slaves and all that.....and it got a lot of the African-Americans *REALLY* angry.  It doesn't help racism when people go out of their way to make sure nothing that could be even slightly racist is ever seen or heard, it strengthens it.
Just my two cents.

Thanks Kimmie!  Sometimes, I wish that modern American society was like what I read about in the 1950's.  Sure they had problems then too but society as a whole seemed so much simpler.  They also seemed to have a better sense of morality than current society.  I apologize if I came across too strong for you and I want you and I to be friends.  Shakes hands, apologizes and hugs Kimmie.  Do you feel better now?

well i suppose so, but I really want every1 to know that the sloagn was never an offensive tool towards black slaves, slaves themselves, or men...well ok it was towards men but it was only in a jokey way, coz ya know i  <3 ya really.
I suppose I had never really gone into full depth about the pragmatics of the slogan but i assumed everyone would hav realised what it meant.  :)
