KQ9 Website Down

You probably already know it Yonkey, but the website was down most of yesterday and for about a minute today. I know its nothing you guys are doing wrong, but, out of curiousity, what did cause it and how can we keep it from happening more in the future? I know one little mess up isnt all that important, but it could be a sign of future site unstability. Anyway, just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

There was a problem with the Apache server that the site's located on.  It's been fixed now, but there may be a few more server problems in the next few days.

yeah I was freaking out, but once we located the problem we fixed it, anyhow if you want to keep in touch whatever may happen, you can email me with your emails and let me know if you want to be informed of these things, hence there is no possibility to let you guys know cuz it will be down, I could answer your emails personally, you could email me at saydmell.salazar@kq9.org, thanks a lot for your concern and Im truly sorry for the inconvenience.

yeah, I do know of a few ppl that tend to email me if they notice it goes down or find big mistakes with the site, they email me and I do try to reply asap, when do have inconveniences we consider may take longer than we would consider we do email the forum frequents ya know, the kq9 junkies lol

omg I was having withdrawals I wanted the site back up right away!!

lol and I was trying so hard to get to 550 posts by the end of the week too. Then all of a sudden, poof, I was out of commission for an entire day.

I also tried to enter the site yesterday and didn't find it  
But I was pretty sure you've already noticed that so I didn't bother to try and report it

I figured that if the site wasn't up by the next day, I'd just torment Yonkey in MSN. Fortunately for him it came back up.

As for e-mail... so when your web server goes down, your e-mail server doesn't? The few times my server went down, I ended up losing both.

Apparently it was only the http that was affected.  I could still access the ftp and databases.  E-mail was still working as well.  Heh, I actually just finished backing up the forum a few minutes just before it happened.  First I thought I did something wrong and killed the forum, but it turned out the whole site wasn't working.

Also, don't forget, we have two servers.  The current one we're on, and the previous one that we switched from.  So, we can always e-mail you from there even if this server goes down.

And we're back!!  Haha, I know this topic was about the site going down some other time, but reuse is great!  

Anyway, most of you asked me what's up with it on MSN, but I'll just say again for those that missed it.  We were having some domain-related problems.  The site was supposed to transfer over to another company about a month ago.  Since there were no problems, we assumed everything went off without a hitch.  Obviously, that wasn't the case.  

Anyway, we shouldn't have any more domain issues for the next 5 years.    Thanks to everyone that freaked out and contacted me during this whole ordeal.

I noticed the site was down last night and this morning but there was no one on MSN to complain to!  
However, I didn't freak - I had every confidence Yonkey would have it fixed in no time (plus, I'm used to the site crashing every so often)

anytime   and i didnt freak out...i merely asked what was going on...precious posting must go on, or else i am going to hav to do more work   and u would want that would u neil   u would feel so guilty making me work....

and anyway if i wasnt asking u bout the site, i would be asking some sort of question anyway  [/glow]
