It seems like this year has brought and is bringing quite a few 90s things back into circulation:

-A new King's Quest game, by Tell Tale (along with IA's KOS, ADGI's KQ3, and TSL)
-A new 2D Sonic the Hedgehog Game
-A new Donkey Kong Country game, done much in the same style as the originals.
-Beavis & Butthead is coming back to MTV this summer with BRAND NEW episodes, for the first time since it's cancellation in 1997
-Independence Day is going to have 2 sequels

And more....

A new Thundercats cartoon will be premiering on Cartoon Network this year. Granted, it's technically the 80's (as is King's Quest, btw) but there were reruns in the 90's that I watched growing up.

Power Rangers is also back in the hands of Saban. Around 2000/2001, they sold it to Disney, who continued to butcher my childhood. Now, it's back where it belongs. Granted, the premier of Power Rangers Samurai had me a bit on the disgusted side, but the fact is that the franchise is back with it's original creators.

Those two independence day sequels, from what I hear, are still rumors, btw, as are the two new Matrix movies the Wachowski's are supposedly writing.

Oh. And Ducktales is coming back. Warren Spector, the guy who made Epic Mickey, will be helping with a new comic series.

Technically it's 2.5D, but I understand your meaning. As a huge fan of the Sonic games for the Genesis, I was eagerly awaiting this, but after watching gameplay, my interest was immediately killed. I'll stick to emulating the Genesis.

Huh.  Do they really think 15 years is long enough for us to forget how terrible that first movie was?

Apparently not. But you also have to remember, this is hollywood. In movie years, it's been something like 115 years. They need more cash, man! Their coffers are almost empty!

I LOVE Independence Day. :) If I see it on TV, I will always stop and watch it.

That said, it doesn't need a sequel. Much less 2.

I have a confession to make. I've never seen it. Perhaps I should.

Go see it now! It's the original, and best, disaster movie. It started the Hollywood trend, and you'll definitely see how the ones that followed were imitations and not nearly as good.

So does that mean I'm essentially suspended from the team to go see the movie? XD I'd love to get fired for not having seen a movie. Best way to get fired. Ever.

First, watch Raiders of the Lost Ark.  That should take precedence over all else in terms of your film history education.  lol

You know, I was never that thrilled of Raiders of the Lost Ark. That may have to do with the fact that I think I watched 2, then 3, then 1.

Now, Temple of Doom, I watched probably like 10 thousand times. Love that movie to pieces.

Heh...actually Temple is my favorite, too.  Well, my CURRENT favorite (it varies from time to time.)  ;)

But I love Raiders and certainly recognize its historical relevance to the adventure movie genre.  Out of all of them, it's done the most for cinema history, as silly as that may sound.  :)

The Last Crusade is my favorite of the series.  I mean, Harrison Ford and Sean Connery.  *swoon!*

If the powers that be bring anything back, it should be Animaniacs.
I have my cake and eat it too, until it's gone.  Then I can't do either.

Aww!  You have the Sword of Hugging +3!  All of your attacks deal affectionate damage!

This is more 80s, but they need to bring back the Goonies!

They need to revive Gargoyles. When Disney decided to take control away from Greg Weisman, things fell apart. That show was great up until the third and final season. Not releasing the second half of season 2 on DVD is also a huge mistake.

I don't think I'd care to see new episodes of these on television (because they would likely be horribly butchered unless the original creators were involved), but I'd like to see Disney's Doug and Recess get re-aired, or at least get DVD releases. Nickelodeon's Doug was released on DVD (except for a couple episodes, the master copies of which were somehow lost), but I didn't get to see it until Disney ordered more episodes for network television in their One Saturday Morning block. So while the Nickelodeon version is fine, I want to see Disney's sequel on DVD as well, because those are the ones I grew up with. And Recess is just flippin' awesome; in 11 1/2 minutes they tackled real-life subjects without the episodes feeling rushed or crammed together. It deserves a chance to live again.
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

The first VHS tape I owned was "Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom" and I love the flick, but my favorite is "Raiders".  I just think it's awesome - I was obsessed with the movie as a kid.  That was actually the first movie we ever "rented" on VHS.... we didn't even have a VCR at the time.  You could rent a machine at our local store, so my Dad rented a VCR and Raiders.... I was about 6 or 7.  I watched that movie six times that weekend.   I love it!

I've heard rumours for years about a sequel to the Goonies - I think it's going to happen.  The director Richard Donner has talked about it a lot... that would be interesting, for sure.

The Goonies is f***ing classic.  I don't know how they'd do a sequel though.  Maybe Sean Astin's kids could go on an adventure or something.  lol.

Anybody see that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV movie, Turtles Forever?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtles_Forever

Check it out!  The modern version of the Turtles encounter the cartoon versions of themselves from the 80's/90's..... hilarity and adventure ensue.  Also, look for the original comic book versions to make an apperance!   Lots of fun if you were a turtles fan as a kid.

I always used to play as Michelangelo. I even made myself a pair of nunchaku.

Ninja Turtles was one of the few series I played as a kid. The other two were Thundercats, where I always played as Tygra, and Defenders of the Earth, which was my fav, and I played as Mandrake. It was cool to cast magic and tell everyone to die lol.
