I think I remember them saying it was gonna be like GK3, for instance, where it just shows the 3-D models themselves talking, no separate dialogue pictures. But the team members can tell you for certain.

I vaguely remember the same thing... that's why I questioned the existance of dialogue portraits in the firstplace  ;)

Well, see, I'm new.  I can always use that as my excuse. :)
Having no dialogue portraits won't be bad either, actually I might like that better.  My biggest gripe with portraits has always been that they interrupt the screen, that's why I liked the QfG5 ones.  No dialogue pictures might be the best thing ever!

KatieHal

No portraits :) What was the QfG5 method?? I believe we're just having 'em talk where they are. Though I'm not in the programming dept, granted, but I know there are no dialogue portraits.

Oooh, I can't wait!  It should be interesting and fun to play an adventure game without those portraits popping up!
In QfG5 they had small dialogue portraits on the side of the screen.  They didn't interrupt your view of the scene or anything, which is part of why I liked them.

Cez

no dialogue screens as we are going to use dynamic cameras. (There is a reason why this game is in 3D, you know?) :)

OH MY GOD!!  Does everyone see how I got an answer?  Like...a straight answer??  I know it's not plot, but it proves it IS possible!  I wasn't sure!

Thanks for clearing that up Cesar!  I'm looking forward to seeing ALL the reasons it's in 3D, but I wasn't sure if this was going to be one. :)

Storm

I hate to step on your enthusiasm there Q, but I think he already said that somewhere before ;)

You know what game didn't have dialogue portraits? MoE.</ominous>

Storm

Eh, but KQ7 didn't have portraits either... neither did KQ4, nor any KQs besides 5 and 6 ;B

Aww man...
I kinda liked those portraits. Although i'm not entirely sure why...

Louisiana Night

I liked the portraits too, although I don't think they'd be good for this game(considering what I know about it).

sivvrianBARRY

I don't know...I think that I would personally prefer if dialog portraits were in this game. I really like them, for some reason. Like if the pictures fomr the bear contest were colored, they would be great dialog portraits  :)

KatieHal

I enjoyed them myself, for those reasons Storm gave - you saw the details of the faces, saw the reactions, saw them talking. it was great!

Essentially we plan to still have it - just without the box with the border around it, and the whole person there instead. :) So it's a dialogue portrait just without the 'portrait' aspect, so to speak.

I still think there should be dialog portraits, although the King's quests one only had them talking, what if they showed different emotions too?  XB

Take this Grandia portrait for example, it's great!  !!!

But art would be equally (or even better) served with character close-ups rather than portraits ;)

Are some conversations going to be interactive?

Hmmm...I disagree somewhat. While the graphics released so far look great, they aren't Doom 3, so much of the detail and elegance of the drawings are left out in the 3d conversion. Just my 2 cents.

Could you elaborate more on this?
