I've always loved the idea of the Devil in lore and popular culture, and especially in the 1960s-1970s, things Satanic, Occult, were dark were played for a laugh or uplifted (see Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin). The devil was a sort of satanic, seductive sort of boogieman--not necessarily all that evil, but dark, powerful yet someone you'd love, someone you love to hate. Not simply the Devil per say, but devil-ish character. Think of Lestat in Anne Rice's stories, for example.

We've had villains we've loved in KQ before--I personally loved Mordack not because he was devilish but because he was a badass. Abdul was kind of funny himself--"I told you to knock before you coming popping in" to Shamir. Lucreto was played as a Lucifer sort of figure in KQ, but it was done seriously.

I was wondering if anyone thinks a campy sort of villain would fit into KQ? Campy in the sense that he's like a wild man of the forest, not that he isn't threatening. Think of Jareth the Goblin King in Labyrinth as an example of a campy sort of villain.

Haha, that would be epic! ;D

But doesn't Dracula kinda count as a "campy" villain? :)

I thought Malicia was extremely campy... And Hagatha in KQ2RTd had some camp.

I'd rather see less of that.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg
