I'm sorry. I'm not going to vote for this. This is kind of a mean pole considering ADGI just released their game :/

I vote for AGDI's. And I made IA's KQ3.

The comparison isn't quite fair though, IA's KQ3 should really be compared with AGDI's KQ1 remakes as both games are each respective companies first remake. I guess it's easy for me to say that because I have access to our SQ2 and KOS stuff that shows the vast improvement in our games, where the general public doesn't. Of course, if this poll was KOS x Redux I would say KOS kicks it's ass!

Yeah, I mean, we did release our KQ3 five years ago.... and we only took two years to make it.  They've had their game in the pipe for EIGHT years!  If we took eight years to make our KQ3, it'd be awesome let me tell you!

As it stand, I think our KQ3 is a great game in it's own right.... but AGDI's KQ3 is visually stunning!!!

ADDENDUM:  Also, when someone refers to a poll as a "pole" it makes me giddy.  A "pole" is a long cylindrical object, often used to support things; or it refers to a denizen of Poland.

Points well taken.

Bt and Klytos - how were you able to complete KQIII in just 2 years, while AGDI took 8? Can you speculate about why there is such a large difference in production time despite similar end products?

We were only working on KQ3, AGDI worked on QFG2 and Al Emmo in the same time.

My point. Plus I'd like to add that the fact that it's JUST been released and had a heap of hype also seals the deal. I don't think it's fair on AI- Specially since I did actually like that game despite the magic system irks. ADGI had plenty of time to learn from IA's mistakes and come up with something more unique.

I also have a distaste for people rating non profit creativity in this manner. Coming from an artist- it does noone's ego any good.

IA and AGDI were both aware of the likelihood of comparisons when they released their Redux version. In fact, we talked about between the two teams, and comparisons are fun if done in a constructive and non-rude manner.

In truth, it doesn't bother me as both games are quite different. I think we did some better things in our KQ3 than AGDI. I have a passionate dislike of the whole "let's wave a magic wand and fix everything in one hit" approach that is used in Redux to rebuild Daventry. But some people disliked our "watch Alexander and Graham rebuild Daventry" approach too.

And official material had everything was fixed following KQ4 approach. See KQ5 manual for example.

Different ways of going about the same idea.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

I don't object to discussion about it. I object to a poll. I like both games for different reasons. I refuse to rate one higher than the other for that reason.

Baggins

If  I had to choose I prefer the original but find the remakes fun diversions. Interesting reinterpretations.

Actually, AGDI (despite having the design docs more or less complete before IA even existed) made a conscious decision NOT to play IA's remake during development so that they wouldn't unconsciously steal ideas. It's kinda funny how the two introduction sequences ended up being so similar despite this, though. That was a neat observation.

No seriously this poll should have had KQ3 original listed just for completeness!

This isn't a fair poll, considering that the AGDI remake is also a continuation of their story in the KQ2 remake whereas the IA remake is a remake of the original. They're different interpretations, and different in a lot of ways. Frankly, I loved them both. So I'm not voting.
