[NOT-FIXED]Goodbye Bug Patch (Category: Install/Setup)

I have searched everywhere and cannot find a link to the Goodbye bug patch. I have already installed the Buffer Overrun patch but am still getting the Goodbye bug.  Please let me know where the patch is located.  Thanks.

The buffer overrun patch should fix the goodbye bug as well - when you copied the patch file into the "The Silver Lining\game" folder were you given a warning by Windows that you were about to overwrite an existing file?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I was given the warning and the file was overwritten. I still have the same error. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling the program (full version of Chapters 1-3), apply the patch and start Chapter 3 from scratch (not from the end of Chapter 2) and see if that helps.

Sorry, I still have the bug. I uninstalled the game, reinstalled, applied the patch and Started Chapter 3 (not from Chapter 2 continuation) and still have the Goodbye bug.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
8 GB memory
AMD II X4 940 3.00 GHZ processor (not overclocked)
NVIDIA 285 with 1 GB
AOC Monitor @ 1680x1050 resolution

Any other suggestions?

When you uninstalled and reinstalled the game did you re-download it or just re-install the one you already had?  It may be that for some reason the file isn't overwriting correctly but if you download one of the current installer files from the site it won't have that bug at all any more.

Unfortunately, I downloaded a new file at the site and started from scratch. I am stumped on this one??

It's really odd that it's still coming up for you - I'd recommend just not talking to Edgar, Jollo, or Shamir for this episode then as they're the only ones where this comes up and none of them are absolutely critical for finishing the episode.

OK, I seemed to have located where the glitch is. I have no trouble talking to Edgar. I run into problems when: [spoiler]I talk to the Guard at the Throne Room and create a distraction. I tried Graham's Room and nothing happens. There was no Goodbye option and both characters just looked at eachother. I had to press alt-F4 to exit. I found when I selected other options, there were no goodbye options either, but the Guard did move to complete the task. As I now solved the puzzle, I think I can move on. Maybe the Goodbye bug I had was having the program hang when asked to search Graham's room and not a true Goodbye bug at all.[/spoiler]  Anyway, thanks for the assistance and I will Quest on.
