Nintendo today revealed more information, a trailer, and a release date, for Pandora's Tower, a new Wii-exclusive RPG. I must say, I am rather intrigued. This Joystiq article has all the details. The release date is scheduled for May 26th. Talk about a fast development! Either that, or Nintendo was able to keep a secret for once.

I am primarily impressed here with the fact that Nintendo kept this under wraps so well until so close to release.  It does look quite good.

I think Nintendo managing to keep a game under wraps for any significant amount of time is an achievement, not just for them, but for any video game company. Keeping something underwraps can be hard.

I have to admit that story sounds...well, I guess pretty much like what I should expect from a J-RPG, really, although I was going to say absurd. The article doesn't say a whole lot, and the trailer didn't tell me much either, but I have to admit it *looked* like another Final Fantasy (knockoff) with some side scroller fighting action thrown in.

But, that's just my opinion--YMMV.

I was hoping it could have been more zelda-esque, but then again, I shouldnt expect something like that Lol.

That guy was using a scythe?!  Sold!   ;D
I have my cake and eat it too, until it's gone.  Then I can't do either.

Aww!  You have the Sword of Hugging +3!  All of your attacks deal affectionate damage!

If you like main characters that wield scythes, you should also check out, if you haven't already, Dante's Inferno.

I'll check it out at some point, but I doubt he'll ever be as awesome as Ryu from Ninja Gaiden.  He's a dreamboat!   :smitten:

Well, Dante's Inferno is a little on the violent side, just so you know. It's rated M for a reason. There's female nudity, blood, violence, language; you know, the usual kind of thing. But the main character fights death early on (like, first five minutes), wins, and gets his Scythe as a prize. That is his weapon for the remainder of the game. It's also an adaptation of the epic poem by the same name. A sequel, based on the the sequel to the epic poem, is in the works according to my sources. Those sources being Joystiq.
