King's Quest 9: The Silver Lining - Came Back!!!!

I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo mad when it went down!  I couldn't belive someone would even bring a beautifully rendered game series to halt like that! I thought I was going to die~!

What did the loyal die hard fans say to get it to come back?????

I'm so eeeeeeeexcited! I just can't hide it! da da daaaaa dadaaaaaaa!

Oh! And one more thing!   I love the hOle in the wall creature!  I remember trying to grab him off the wall for over 3 hours desperately wanting to have him in my pouch!  He was a squirmy little fellow!  I jumped for joy out my seat when I finally figured how how to use him too!  No punt intended but he is rather cute!

Arkillian

Oh- I love hole in the wall too :D It's one of my favourite non playable characters in King's Quest ^^ I am SO happy that you get to interact with it in the game :) I'm a bit like you. Got the game when I was a kid, and I'm now (cue age older than you). Apparently I was a hard core fan of it as a kid and constantly played it XD Part of that is having a crush on Alexander though I guess >.>

Welcome, Glossy, and thank you! I'm thrilled you're enjoying the game and so excited about it--we are too! :)

welcome to the forum!

well I don't know if you checked on it back in 2005, but it nearly got shut down back then by vivindi, and cat (koko_99_2001) and some other people got a petition going and managed to convince them to allow the game to go on. ("king's quest" had to be taken out of the title, though)

then last year, around feb or march, (actually I think it may have been before that, but that's when it was announced) activision, the new owner of the sierra name shut them down. A few of us from the forums started another petition... I may not be remembering everyone but me, waltz, and oberonqa mostly ran this one, if i remember right.  Waltzdancing went on to join the POStudios team.

Wow! Thanks for all your feedback guys!  Now I am caught up with what was going on!  The name: KING'S QUEST can be taken out of the series but I will always call it King's Quest whenever I talk about it.  Just because a NEW company bought this game does not mean they can can change the name of the series in the minds of loyal classic gamers!  King's Quest! King's Quest! King's Quest! 9!

Ok, well I have to start over on Episode 1 due to a glitch I posted on the technical post area of the forums.  I literally fell off the edge of the screen!  That evil dark lord or ghostly specter I guess didn't want me to help Graham find out what is going on with his townspeople and the death of that sweet couple!

O well; so far I found 1 gold coin, a dark cloak, a pouch of gold, and a letter that disappeared on a door in town.  I guess that's all there is so far and I'll have to find a way off the island before another evil tree falls on me!

If you've already changed your clothes then you have everything you need to leave the island :)

If she (? - guessing from the name) found the note, then she must have changed clothes. :)

Glad you liked the game, Glossy! Having been here for both Cease and Desists, I was heartbroken both times. But seeing it rise from the ashes twice gave me hope. And, at the time of the second Cease and Desist, I was in the middle of becoming an official team member. Because of the fan campaigns, we've actually recruited some active community members to be a part of our team. Cat joined us after the first Cease and Desist, and both Adrienne (Waltzdancing) and Oberonqa joined the team for a short time as well before departing. Waltz is the only one to have stayed on permanently from that second campaign, but she's doing a fantastic job!

I'm totally blushing, it was nothing, really. I am happy that you have enjoyed the game. That is the best reward I could have ever have asked for, seeing a global community so happy. Enjoy, and I hope you stick around for a bit!

I loved this game as a child. I remember playing Kings Quest 1 2 3 (one of my favourite) 4 came out - then the beautiful game that was 5 (I had to buy a 20 mb hardrive just to play it) 6 was wonderful - 7 was my least fav but still - then mask.

The amount of detail/depth you have given this game is astonishing. Was such a joy to take the trip down memory lane, and the game itself brought back such great memories I had as a child getting lost in the world of Kings Quest. I can't say enough how evident that this was a labor of love, which is evident from the beauty and care of the artwork, the AMAZING voice work, and the story...my god...the story did such a wonderful job to tie in all the aspects of all the games. AMAZING work. That was one of the most fun experience I've had in a while.

Thank you, danathjo! I hope you keep on enjoying the remaining episodes, and welcome to the forums!

I will be playing every single episode :D The music was fantastic. As a composer myself, I appreciate the little hark backs to the older games soundtracks... subtle and wonderful - I hope that this work brings all the people on this project success and prosperity. I had always felt sad that a story I loved as a child, never really finished. You have done this story justice! I wonder if R.Williams has played, I am sure she would think the same.

She did play Episode 1, actually, and even sent us her thoughts on it. :) It was really amazing to hear from her, and hear that she enjoyed it! There's a post around here someplace with her words on the Episode...

Ah! Here we are, you can read it here: http://www.postudios.com/blog/?p=472
