Untitled: Prologue

Yeah, I suck at coming up with titles so this is untitled fo now....anyways, I decided I'd post the Prologue I wrote for this fanfic I had the idea for.  Once I get more written, I'll post more.

Captain Vermnos sat up sharply in his bed and rubbed sleep from his eyes.  Odd, the last thing he remembered was his lookout in the crow's nest shouting that they were nearing land.  Daventry, to be exact.  A chest of treasure awaited him there, but he seemed to have fallen asleep before going ashore and getting it.

All over his ship, the pirate crew was waking up.  The chef had to pull his hand out a cold bowl of a bland stew he'd been making.  The lookout in the crow's nest passed out again from suddenly beholding the dizzying distance to the deck below. Two crew members dragged him down to his bunk.  Then someone disocvered about the boy.  "He's gone!" the surprised pirate cried, scampering into Captain Vermnos' quarters.  Angrily, the sea captain opened the chest were all of the boy's possessions had been stowed.  It was empty.  The shovel by the rowboat was missing too.

That sneaky child had gone after their treasure!  The pirates piled themselves into the rowboat and headed for shore.  "Five paces east of a lone palm!" they called to each other as they rowed towards the beach.

Face paces east of a lone palm was a large, rectangular hole in the sand.  The cabin boy, the hostage, the pitiful child desperate to escape from Llewdor, the dirty wretched thing that had begged for passage in a seedy bar had stolen the most valuable chest of buried treasure that Captain Vermnos had ever heard of and escaped with his life.  "What were 'is name again?" the seafarer demanded from his first mate.

"I believe he said 'Gwydion'," the first mate replied.

A determined glint appeared in the captain's eye as he growled,  "Aye, we'll not be fergettin' that name soon.  And he won't be fergettin' us either."

Not bad, though I thought it was five paces *east*.
