Maybe I've missed it, but has any ETA on episode 4 been posted yet?

KatieHal

No, we haven't posted a date for Episode 4's release yet. We're going to hold off on doing so until we feel confident the game is ready to go and as bug-free as we can make it this time. :) But we are very hard at work on it and we hope to have more precise news in the near future!

(also, I'm moving this to the more appropriate forum for the question)

I believe Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo once said " A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." so I say you guys are doing the fan base a good service on holding off till you got the glitches ironed out... Just my two cents! :)

P.S. The game is already great, just kinda crashy, LOL! XD

We will have that fixed before releasing the next episode.  Currently our top priority.

I can also say that we're looking into whether the mac build experiences any of the crashes that the pc build encounters. unfortunately, I have no time frame on a release yet, but we are working on making the mac build as stable as possible before release. Ill give updates when I get them.

I think duke nukem forever might be the exception to the rule lol. It hasn't been a continuous 14 years of development. It's been cancelled several times, hasn't it?

Indeed, it has. But the amount of development that was put into it from the beginning wasn't exactly wasted. If you actually play the game, there are videos of gameplay in the Extras menu that were from the first time it was being worked on. Some friends and I were wondering why they didn't release it earlier, because the videos of the gameplay looked like a finished project. I think the game should have stayed a myth, because the talk of Duke Nukem Forever was more entertaining than the actual game.

So has TSL!  ;)

Never cancelled, just sent two cease and desists. we didn't technically cancel it; we more put it on hold hoping for a resolution. and a resolution came. It was not our hope nor wish to have TSL cancelled, but when a C&D arrives on your desk, well, that changes matters. I'm pretty sure that Duke Nukem's cancellations were of the more voluntary nature and not so much prompted by legal action. But I'm no expert on Duke Nukem's history, so I could very well be wrong.

All I know is that many Gearbox employees came out of 3D Realms. So it's fitting to have them be the ones who actually finished the project. Kind of like how Obsidian Entertainment worked on Fallout New Vegas. Fitting to have the remnants of Black Isle work on a true sequel to the Fallout series.

Also, Duke Nukem Forever was never officially cancelled, it was just never finished. It was always passed on to one developer or another. In fact, just before Gearbox decided to pick it up, 3D Realms said that they were going to take another crack at it. Clearly, they didn't get too far.

The C&Ds had a similar effect to a cancellation.  They halted production which in turn caused the game to have to make major changes from the original vision.  As has been stated the game is basically now made up of 2 out of 9 parts.  It never intended to be released as chapters, and the games engine has changed multiple times.  I am sure the list could go on and on.

I loved it when you guys announced the release of episode 2 (I think) like 3 days before it was released, and it was so much better than announcing episode 3 way in advance. It made me more excited for the 3 day release warning because then you don't have to agonize for a month! LOL! It's nice to have something to look forward to now that a certain franchise is over (*cough*Harry Potter *cough*) and I hope it lasts for a while, I know people will be sad when Episode 5 is released because then it will all be over, kinda like how most people were for HP. Take as much time as you need, I don't want you guys to rush these last 2 episodes because I'm sure everyone wants a great gaming experience as far as quality and hopefully the lack of bugs, and also the Cedric Suffer! Can't wait to see it in-game! Keep up the great work and don't rush!

I will say this: it will be sad to see episode 5 come out, with it being the last episode of TSL, but believe me, we're giving a proper send-off to Graham and the royal family. unfortunately, I can't go into any more details than that at the moment. and look at it this way: the end of TSL is only the beginning for phoenix Online. the game we set out to make so many years ago will finally be coming to a close, but we'll be putting all of our effort and the skills we've learned over the years into our commercial endeavors, starting with infiltrator and corridor 9. phoenix is only getting started, and we plan to stick around for a while.

Can we sticky a thread so that people know that Episode 4 hasn't got a confirmed release date please? There seems to be ALOT of threads popping up about it :/
