See, as soon as I figured out that I was going to mess up Mordack's wand, I was eagerly looking forward to his reaction
I didn't get to the actual "messing" for quite a few years.  I ran out of heap space as the wands were charging.

And how can I forget the ultimate trickster moment - the cat cookie!

See, the first time I played KQ3 and found out there was a cat cookie, I thought "What the hell would I do with a cat cookie ... but okay, I'll try to get the ingredients anyway."  And I made the cat cookie, and then I thought to myself "hmmm, I wonder if I could get Mannannan to eat this, but he probably wouldn't, so I wonder ... oh yes, I *can* put it in the porridge".  I didn't really expect that to be the way to get rid of Mannannan but ... when it worked, I thought "That. Is. So. Cool."

I think for me it would have to be the first time I went to the Isle of the Beast in Kings Quest 6.  I just loved the whole island.  I remember as a young lad wanting to wander off into the woods to explore and being frustrated that the game wouldn't let me.  Ah well.  Maybe I'll finally get my chance in TSL! ;D
The shows in my mind are almost always better...

Well, you'll get to experience a bit more of the Island in TSL, but that's all I'm allowed to say at the moment. I think you'll enjoy it though.

There has to be more iconic moments; so let's hear them!

king's quest 5, right before mordacks castle when you go to the old boat guy to get cedric help.  that whole part brings back great memories and gives me chills when i play it now.  not entirely sure why.  that is one of my favorite parts of the game now.

I seriously have to replay King's Quest 5; I was never a big fan of that game because, when I first played it, I was young and got scared of parts of it. I think that scarred me a bit lol. But I really should revisit the game sometime. It's just been so long.

that was the first one i played, and i loved it.  i seriously think it's my favorite of the series, even though i think 6 was probably a better game objectively. (and i would say i like it almost as much)

The random encounter with the troll inside the cave in KQ4.  It freaked me out as a kid and still, to this day, unnerves me in a way that even most horror movies fail to accomplish.

I think the game is one of the darker King's Quest games, after KQ8... It's a tossup if KQ4 is darker than KQ5 though. But it has alot of dark imagery especially towards the end, where some of the visuals look downright satanic. But all those talking animals really lighten the mood...

I think KQ4 is just a touch darker with the whole idea of two lives in Rosella's hands (with only a limited time to save them), most of the inhabitants in the land are evil, even if only neutral evil. Almost everything is out to get Rosella. Plus it has one of the more brutal/violent death scenes for a villain in the games (sure a love arrow shouldn't technically kill, but it kills her in a very violent fashion)! But in general the game has a very lonely atmosphere about it.

KQ6 has only a few dark moments, but is overall is one of the more whimisical adventures in the series.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Challenging Samhain is one of my favorite videogame moments period.  But since that was already mentioned let me think of another one.

I think the catacombs were pretty memorable, especially since I was very young when I first played KQVI.  Eerie music, batas and rats scurrying about.  And the ever increasing clacking noise.  Oh and the traps, I had a hard time reading that map as a kid.

Ah, the Catacombs; that's certainly memorable for me. I couldn't have done that without a strategy guide, honestly.

I didn't find the catacombs that hard... Considering most of it was explained in the manual!

Yeah, well, I didn't use the manual XD I think I actually used the King's Quest Companion to get through most of the series.

I read the manual before I played the game! I might have looked at it again, for the copy protection tile maze puzzle. Actually when I got to the actual play, I just wondered through most of it on my own. Getting rid of the Minotaur didn't take me long to figure out.

The catacombs kicked my butt for several days but being from the southwest and attending many rodeo events, I knew what to do with the minotaur.  :D

The KQ4 troll scared me out for YEARS! We (my sister and I) even had to use a nightlight for a bit because it freaked us out so much. The other part that messed with us was the boogeyman. *shivers* I still am afraid of him.

dark-daventry

yeah, the boogeyman was a little creepy for me, too. I would try getting away from him as soon as possible, but or didn't always work the way I wanted it to.

It was cool putting on the black cape (?) as Rosella and waiting for the Boogeyman, though.

Black Cloak, ironically enough, actually...

Getting rid of the Minotaur is fairly obvious.  But I'm embarrassed to admit it took me a while to realize I could use the Hole-in-the-Wall as a hole in the wall. >__>
