Ok, so I've been on a new thread spree lately, so forgive me, but this movie was too epic to not share with everyone. For those that are unaware, Marvel, for several years, has been leading up to The Avengers movie next May with individual movies for almost all the Avengers. First it was Hulk, then Iron Man, then Thor, and now, finally, Captain America. After the credits roll for each movie, there's an extra scene that ties into the next movie Marvel plans to do. The same goes for Captain America, though I guarantee it's not what you're expecting. Beware, my friends, spoilers await!
After the credits have rolled, we get a quick scene of Chris Evans practicing against a punching bag. suffice it to say, he's rather strong. the punching bag didn't stand a chance. then, Nick Fury walks in, mentioning a mission. the screen fades to black, and you think that's all. But no. what follows, you ask? a trailer. a trailer for The Avengers. Most. Epic. Moment. Of. My. Life. My friend and I literally squealed like little girls in the theater. We've already made a pact to go to the midnight premiere. And preceeding the midnight premiere, we're going to refresh ourselves with all the Marvel movies leading in to it. We're geeks, and we're damn proud of that!
Now, as a reminder, as is usual, all sensitive plot information goes in spoiler tags. We don't want to spoil the epicness of the movie for those that haven't seen it yet, now do we?

I'm upset that they are replacing Edward Norton for the role as Hulk in The Avengers. Mark Ruffalo is replacing him. Although he might make a good Hulk, I fail to see the point of making Edward Norton the new Hulk, just to replace him in the movie that was made specifically for his portrayal. You might as well have not made the Hulk movie at all.  :-\

Still, The Avengers will be pretty awesome.  ;D

I actually haven't seen the Hulk movie yet... I plan to eventually, it just hasn't happened yet.

It's a good movie, and there is a special ending that links it to Iron Man and The Avengers. But now that they are replacing Norton, it seems like they are better off either not putting the Hulk in The Avengers or not making the the Hulk movie connected to The Avengers. They made too much of a connection to just back away and pretend like it didn't happen. Way too unprofessional.  ::)

I understand Edward Norton, turned down the project to reprise his role as the Hulk. For whatever reason, he hasn't been clear on it. He said he wanted to, but it didn't work out, and so he turned down Marvel's offer to return.

Some suggest its because he didn't approve of the script of the original Hulk film he starred in, and he never got a screenwriter to help him rewrite his parts to fix it the way he wanted (and it was already set to be filmed shortly after). Norton lost alot of creative control over the movie apparently. So there was some bad blood left over from it, he was pissed about it.

But its not the first character they switched actors on in these movies! War Machine.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

I personally, felt like he played a great Hulk. So it's hard to just accept a new actor to come in and finish what somebody else had started. I felt the same way about Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies. The late Richard Harris was a great Dumbledore, and it was sad that he passed away. Michael Gambon who adopted the role did the character justice, albeit he played a drastically darker role from Harris' refreshingly optimistic portrayal.

Richard Harris was the best dumbledore out there. Michael Gambon was good, but he just doesn't hold a candle to Richard Harris.

As for the Avengers, I just want to see the movie. Frankly, I don't care so much who's playing who, so long as I can see the movie.

Really? I was told that it was because the director of The Avengers didn't want to work with Norton because he was a hard person to work with. But that's just a rumor; do you have a source?

And I agree, Richard Harris was the best Dumbledore, and even though Gambon did well, I would have preferred Harris.

By the way: saw Captain America today. It was pretty much awesome. :D
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

Did you stay after the credits had rolled? That was perhaps the single greatest moment of my movie-going life.

I stayed after the credits and I was very disappointed by what was literally an advertisement for The Avengers. The previous Avenger-related films had teaser-like clips that rewarded the viewer for the patience in sitting through the credits.

As for Captain America, meh. Just another loud superhero film.

well, there was also a teaser-like clip with captain american and nick fury that preceeded the trailer. Frankly, I liked the trailer, but maybe that's just me.

That would actually seem to match up with what I was reading. That he was too picky with the script for the Hulk fim, a perfectionist, wanted everything his way, and it had to go to film before he had a chance to rewrite the script in the way he wanted it. I would certainly call that 'hard to work with' (which I actually touched on above)!

He says a bit there, about turning down Marvel's offer.

But its also possible he was just trying to be nice.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, Joss Whedon should get final call. He's a god to me. I love everything the guy has done, and now he's directing the Avengers movie, which just gives me even more of an incentive to see it.

Yup. It was nice, but I wish it had been more of a sneak preview of The Avengers and less of a trailer.

I.....yeah, okay. I completely misread your first post; yes, you and I were saying pretty much the same thing.
