The name of the games I was referring to earlier are called "Fatal Frame 1 & 2".

FYI
Just look at me,
I'm living proof that,

A somewhat rare game called “Iron Helix” (http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/p,5/gameId,679/)  creeped me out in a Sci-Fi, James Carmon sort of way…   ::)

I've got that game! hardly ever played it though, since it's not an adventure and I kept getting killed, so I can't remember how creepy it was  :-\

Anyone play any of the games in that link? I've never heard of "The Dark Eye," but it sounds scary as hell.

I haven't played any of those games, except for Alone In The Dark - I gave it a try and couldn't really understand why people like it so much. Couldn't go 20 seconds without dying :S

Looked at the screenshots of that one, it looked pretty lame. I agree with Storm...

I think there are VERY few games on the PC(and especially on consoles) that are truly scary. I think the only game that actuelly scared me, was System Shock 2. Although, AvP2 made me flinch a few times.

System Shock 2
Before anyone says that they wouldn't like it(1st person shooter view), keep in mind that it is actually a hybrid(mixture) of different game types. I remember one time I was playing(5-8 years ago), I turned out the lights in the room(to add to the effect), and my brother tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around(in the game), and tryed to shoot whatever was behind me! Three seconds later, I was laughing at myself(because of how big an idiot I was). You actually get unlimited lives in the game, so the fact that I was worried about what was behind every corner proves how scary it is(or how big a coward I am). Another thing I should mention, it's multiplayer, so you could play online with your friends(although it's not near as scary that way). Most people that have played it, would agree with me.

Phantasmagoria
Except for a few parts, I wouldn't call this a scary game.
Has anyone here played the 2nd one, and was it made by Roberta Williams?

Haunted Mansion
Old Atari(before Nintendo) game. You play as a guy that's locked inside a haunted mansion(obvious, huh?). He has to collect the pieces of a key, to get out. Fun game, but I wouldn't call it scary either. Exciting, maybe, but not scary.
I don't know about any newer game with this name.

Alone in the Dark 1-4
Everyone here seems to be concerned with the graphics, and being killed. Except for the 4th one, all used software rendering. I've played 1 and 4, I think both are fun, but I was never scared by them. I agree, about dying too much.

Jack the Ripper
The new game, bad.

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream
I think I've played the demo. If it's the game I think it is, you'd probably be better of buying the the story(tape or book). Although I think this MIGHT be considered scary, I don't like the fighting parts.

Aliens versus Predator 1/2
Yep, scary.
A first person shooter, if you don't like the movies, you won't like the game(and vice-versa). If you don't get at least "creeped out" by the movies, try the game. Like the movie, almost everyone seems to die by the end of the game. I only consider the Marine missions scary. Also I don't think the Primal Rage(or whatever it's called) expansion pack is scary.

Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake
I've never played the game, but I know people that have. This game I think would be considered scary, in a few parts. Not many, and only to some people(not me).

Done  ;D

I could have done that, but then I couldn't have:
Done
NOW I'm Done
NOW I'M REALLY DONE!(I hope)
It is what was going thru my mind at the time, and it wouldn't have looked right if I modifyed it(although I'm not sure if it looks right now). It's the same reason that I sometimes put a link in as an address and not a name.

P.S. Thanks for the advice anyways.

Hmm. By The Dig, do you mean the LucasArts game? Great game, but I didn't really find it scary... more just eerie and surreal.

It was actually written by the guy who *directed* Jurassic Park (and by Orson Scott Card, w00t)... it was originally intended to be a movie/TV show episode (forget which off-hand)... but was later novelized by Alan Dean Foster. </smartass mode  :-[ >

Yes, I meant the Lucasarts game. I don't consider it scary, I went off topic, sorry.

racx_00, I'm going to take your advice, I think I've been taking up too much space on the KQ9 forums. Now, to get back on topic.

Call of Cthulhu

A game that MIGHT be the scariest game of all time(I can always hope) is coming out soon. It's name is Call of Cthulhu. It's going to use the NetImmerse graphics engine. Here's what I know about the story.

You're a detective(or something similar) that had a mental breakdown(or something similar). You start the game by seeing your own death, you see you hanging yourself inside a mental institution(there has to be a better way of saying that). Out of what I understand, you can't stop your fate, you are just trying to stay sane(and alive) until the end of the game. Everything will seem normal at first, but the further you get into the game, the crazier you become(seeing things that aren't there etc.). Unique idea for a game, huh?

Awesome...isn't Cthulhu this giant evil satanic sea monster that is supposedly gonna take over the world and kill everyone and stuff? I looked for it once on Google and it came up to Cthulhu's home page and it was this huge cannabalistic octopus thing.

Has anyone played "The Dark Eye" or "Amber: Journys Beyond?" Because I haven't, that guy on the link I posted on page 2 listed them as the top 2 scariest games, and I want to know if he's valid.

Yes, sea monsters that are going to take over the world.

I haven't played either of them, but I don't think they can compare to System Shock. Unless they have very good writers.

I think it will get the action/adventure thing right, unlike most games. I'd wait for a review to be sure though. Also I think it has high system requirements, it's also being made for the Xbox.

racx_00

i hate Xbox >:(, its the biggest console ever, lol :suffer:

But you can update by getting new videocards and stuff ;D
