Daventry: Big or small

While one of the KQ novels stated Daventry was a small land, I've always thought of it as a pretty massive land, and probably one of the most powerful in the world. Consider how large Daventry is in KQ1, which is not including Connor's village and the Town and surrounding areas. I'd really love if we could explore Daventry in total in a future game. To see the ins and outs of it. I personally love the layout of Medieval lands in real life, and would love to see Daventry in 3D glory--not just Connor's Village but the main centers of Daventry.

Not very big?  Even if you included every explorable part of Daventry from every KQ game I still wouldn't peg it as being much different in overall size from the overworld map in QFG3.  Still a decent size, but I don't know that I've ever pictured it as big enough to be like a major world power or anything like that.

The first is a map that is completely not to scale--it has goat pens on the same size scale as mountains.

The second is obviously an "artist's interpretation"--it doesn't match the world presented in the KQ Companions (the only full world maps I could find) at all:

You have to remember though that the world map grew as the series did. The Daventry seen in KQ1 wouldn't have been connected to Serenia, for Sereania didn't exist in the KQ universe yet. Consider for example this KQ4 era Map:

The second world map is from KQ8. Peter Spear was supposed to write a novelization of KQ8 but due to issues with the publisher I believe was unable to. His novelization would've likely included a new map which took all 8 games' worlds into consideration.

a KQ5 era map:

I like the size of Daventry from KQ1 - though it would be fun to explore some more of the outlying areas, and even an actual town IN Daventry.  Not too big, though.

Well, my point is mostly that Daventry does seem on the smaller side--and that actually seems to be a consistent thing regardless of the exact map, even though they change in detail, layout, and size themselves. Given that there seem to be only a few kingdoms in the world, it may be a world power by virtue of there's not much competition.

It's not the SIZE of the land....

I wish there was a game in which you could explore Daventry's Old Woods, help out faeriefolk, explore their town, cross swamps, scale mountain peaks, pass through deep mines, survive an encounter with an evil hag, traverse a burnt and broken land, and penetrate an evil wizard's twisted lair in order to rescue a faerie queen and break a spell that was corrupting the land.

Now THAT would be f***ing BAD ASS.  Why doesn't somebody make THAT game?!

Get real. No one will ever do that.  ::)

That would totally rock! Will Kingdom of Sorrow have any of that?? (Or am I missing something? Like that already exists and I'm in the dark.)

I always think of the kingdom of Daventry as being a fairly medium sized kingdom... see, historically, they probably were large but when the treasures were lost their borders shrank and I am SURE Graham was not going around conquering places. The continent of Daventry, though, must be massive.
