I don't know that I'd call him neutral so much as saying he is solidly on HIS side. :)

I am enjoying this more as the episodes come, though!

I considered him to be a bit of a Trickster, a la Loki in Norse mythology. If he follows the same persona, I think he's going to be my favorite character yet.

I'm definitely enjoying the show so far.  I think the queen has some memory of the curse, but Rumple knows everything.

My wife is in love with the show. It's her new favourite show.

There's been an awful lot of "dark fairy tale" stuff happening lately. Personally, I see this as a good thing. We're finally getting out of the vampire phase.

Finally. It's about time.

And fairy tales are only a light stretch from the fantasy sword & sorcery stuff I love so much, so I'm very excited to see these things.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a sword & sorcery television series on like a normal cable channel (not HBO, even though I LOVE Game of Thrones).... although you know what they say, be the change you want to see! I guess that means I should start writing one. :P

Speaking of which though, is anyone curious to see more of like... the fairy tales all existing in the same land? In a sort of Into the Woods kind of way, where they each accidentally affect each other? If Once Upon a Time doesn't do it, someone else is going to have to! :P

Cray--read Fables :) Seriously for anyone into the fairy tale thing, you are missing out not reading that series!

Are you familiar with the mini-series The 10th Kingdom?  That did have a premise on the idea of the one you described.  It is out on DVD if you might want to take a look.

I've been wanting to get into that one, Adrienne, but I just don't have time! I'll need to wait for the next time there's a long break in regular TV seasons!

Just saw this week's episode. I lol'd when the fairy godmother blew up.  :P

I'm actually familiar with all of the above, but there's SOOOO many fairy tales out there. A long-running TV series could encompass all of them, and you could easily expand into myths and legends if you started to run out of ideas.

10th Kingdom is like the best thing ever though. :P

I love how no one on earth has heard of The 10th Kingdom and then you come here and it's commonplace. :P

Saw the new episode. The more I try to keep up with the series, the more I see the storyline walking in circles around the main plot point. Whether the curse is real or not, the story makes little effort to provide any form of a conclusion. Every preview makes the next episode a "must watch", and then when you watch it, it only postpones the inevitable. I could probably miss the next five episodes, and then come back into the season without needing to catch up. Not that the episodes are not entertaining, but they are starting to do what Lost did. Ask a bunch of questions, and provide no answers. That's how they get ya, I suppose.

By the way, to anyone who saw the new episode, what was at the bottom of the mine shaft? I couldn't tell what the mayor was holding in her hand.
I couldn't really tell either, but people on IMDB seem to think it was Snow's coffin.
Well, the one thing that I think each episode has been doing so far is to give us the backstory of a particular character.  So thus far, no, the show hasn't answered the big questions.  It just gives little hints here and there.

I do like the backstories though.  Felt kinda badly for Dr. Hopper/Jiminy Cricket.
