Similar to many of you, I've been playing Classic Sierra titles since I've been old enough to sit up at the computer. I'm 31 now and I actually started off with the Police Quest 1. I found the Kings Quest series to be much more to my liking, playing 1 and 3. The third entry was and still is my absolute favorite. (I completely adore AGDI's KQ3 Redux, play it if you haven't) I made my way thru the series and didn't play the 2nd until nearly the end.

It wasn't until well after the bad aftertaste that was MoE left me that I read about Silver Lining in a Game Informer. Then I heard about the legal battles from the same source and I resigned myself to believing the game would never see the light of day. Just recently I got my newest issue and there was a wonderful article about "The genre that refuses to die" and I learned Silver Lining was alive and well.

I've just now made my way thru Episodes 1 and 2. Episode 2's ending moved me to tears.  You all have opened a window into the hearts of my favorite adventure characters and showing them in a new light that is welcomed. I only hope it won't be long before 5 is released because if 4 ends on a cliffhanger, which I'm sure it will, I'll go bonkers.

Thank you so much, rknight! That's great to hear you loved it so much :) The fans are who this game is for, after all! Enjoy eps 3 and 4...they get even better, in my opinion. :)

And welcome to the boards!

One day, about 2-3 years ago, i happened to stumble across the absolutely wonderfull King's Quest remakes by the brilliant people at AGD Interactive. I played them, loved them, and bought some more from GOG.com.

But, just as GrahamRocks!, I also had followed Paw's King's Quest Retrospective for a long time. Might have spoiled just a few story elements for me, but I had mostly(tried my best to) forgotten the crucial parts by the time I played the games.

Then, just today actually, I came across The Silver Lining. I have gotten to the middle of ep 2, and am loving it so far. Must get Cognition when it comes out.  :D

Edit: Just discovered the Spell Check feature on the forum. AMAZING! Why haven't more people implemented this kind of thing in more forums?

There's so many movies/games/books/comics that I don't know where to start!

Well, better start with the classics and work my way forward...

Oh, absolutely! It is an amazing piece of art. You can really see all the effort and love the developers have poured into this fantastic tribute to not only the King's Quest series, but to the entirety of Sierra as well!

The attention to detail is excellent. A fine blend of remastered and re imagined backgrounds. The music adds so much to the atmosphere. GREAT character development, and every expansion of the original story I've come across so far is logical and makes perfect sense. And, of course, a narrator with a attitude. Love it!

This, totally! I agree that it all flows so nicely and sequentially. I mean, I never thought that there might be more off of the main street in the Isle of the Crown's village! Well said, my new friend, well said! :)

One of my favorite parts of the game so far is when I returned to the castle garden, and had a peaceful conversation with Edgar. If I'm not misstaken, this is the first time we have seen Graham and Edgar spend some time together, and the game uses this opportunity to it's fullest.

I can just hope that Graham gets to have some private time with Alexander and Rosella as well. (Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease)

Ahhh, that's the one that plays The Day You Were Gone (instrumentally) in the background. I was fangirl squeeing all over that scene. XD My favorite part of most games is usually the characterization and the dialogue and I fully agree. Just getting to know two characters by them talking was a really, really great scene. :D

It's called "Remembering Yesterday". I'm so jealous of the awesome writers on here, you make me feel amateurish. I mean, you have likable characters and everything!

Hello and welome Nabby! And thank you so much, it's always great hearing that people are enjoying the game. :)

Aw, and thanks GrahamRocks. :) We worked hard on it, though I do think we could've done for some more editing and cutting lengthy lines, especially. But regardless it was all done with plenty of passion for the series and characters.

Well I love the Kings Quest series with my favorite protagonists being: Alexander and then Valinece

It represents sort of the best of the point and click genre with a strong setting everytime.

When I heard the Silver Lining was giving the game a much deserved ending I was estatic.

It was the summer of 2003 and I was 12 years old and I was at a summer camp. We'd been allowed to use computers and the internet and I out of the blue decided to look and see if there was anything anywhere about a KQ9. I'd been a fan of the KQ series since 1995 but after 3 years had passed since KQ8's release with no news, I had sort of lost interest in the series and only recently before had found all my old KQ games in a box and replayed them. I did a search and I came to this site and forum and became a fan very quickly after.

I am 12. I first got into KQ and Sierra when I was searching for games. Then I didn't really know what real Adventure games were, but I was always somehow into them. For instance, I was buying some Computer magazines called Enter monthly. And they came with a CD with some free games and Demos. And I always would get those Sam & Max games, but I didn't know how to play them(I didn't know English). But I would always get them and just clicked around. That happend with EVERY adventure game I found. Then I learned English and I was really into them, and THAT was a miracle, because my WHOLE town was only into games like Tomb Raider, CS, Call of Duty... Then I found the VGA remake of KQ1. I loved it! And that's how I got into Sierra, and played all the titles. KQ was my favorite one. I would always search for fan games! And then I found TSL and now I'm here.
Nitendo Wii + Sierra Game = GREAT!

I think that it all started when I was 7 years old and my dad played King's Quest 6 with me. It was the Windows version with the detailed portraits. From then on, I always looked back at King's Quest 6 as the epitome of merging creative ideas with fairytales and magic and beautiful design in the perfect mix. Later on, I'd go on to find and play the other games and as a series it was really something that I don't think has been topped regarding creativity and fun, even though some people say the games lose replayability value, I've never thought so since I've replayed the games countless times just to explore the environments.

The King's Quest universe was probably what contributed most to me want to pursue a career of art. I found out about TSL when I was about 14 or 15. The games hadn't come out back then and it was when it still had the KQIX title. It made me so excited to see what fans could do with the series I loved as a kid. And I followed a lot of the things going on and was really blown away by the concept art for the characters. So when I finally got to play the first chapter it was really happy to get to relive a big part my childhood.

Since playing TSL and the AGDI and IA remakes, I've gotten my 11 year old and 8 year old cousins into King's Quest too by playing the games with them. I like that they enjoy them and it makes me hope that they'll have the same fond feelings towards the series that I do.

I'm another one of the daddy's girls that watched her father playing KQV back in the 90s and had to try it out. I also tried an Indiana Jones game and a Sherlock Holmes game around that time, all adventure like KQ, just because I watched him play and it looked so fun.   ;D  King's Quest VI is my favorite out of the official series (sorry, Mask of Eternity never happened in my world  :P) and I love that we get to visit the Green Isles again!

Later on we got the boxed set that had all 7 King's Quest games, the Laura Bow duo, and a bunch of early Sierra games like Mystery House. I got some good use out of that, until I upgraded operating systems and couldn't play anymore. Years later, probably 2011, I think I saw a "Let's Play ___" series on YouTube and then I found the King's Quest wiki, where I found out there was a KQ9 made by fans. The rest is history. I just finished Episode 4 today and I'm blown away!

I honestly don't know if the makers of Silver Lining kept Mask of Eternity out or respect or if they did honestly believe it to be canon inspite of contradicting large swaths of the storyline.

Huzzah and welcome Ozaira! :)

Well, though most of us don't really *love* MoE, it is technically a King's Quest game. So we incorporated it, albeit minimally.
