  I'm not trying to break the rule about asking about release dates, but I was wondering if a 2012 release date is confirmed, or might we have to wait for 2013?  I'm not sure I can wait that long.

I can only speculate, but it's been said that TSL Ep.5 would be released before Cognition and Cognition will be a summer release. I've had it in my mind that Ep. 5 will be released around mid-April but I have no clue.

I can tell you Episode 5 isn't coming before Cognition--I'm not sure where or when that might've been said, but it's definitely not the case. Sorry!

We are planning to have Episode 5 in 2012, but beyond that hope, there's nothing definite to announce.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd love to see Episode 5 become available very soon as much as you or anyone else.  I've been waiting for some years (since its original announcement around 1997, or so) for this game to even be developed, and I'm delighted it is being done so, but I am (trying to be) patient.
There is another game, on another internet site (Kings Quest-Kingdom of Sorrow) that I've been waiting for for a few years, as well, and I'm trying to be patient for that one as well.
As the old saying goes, the BEST things come to those who wait (patiently). :)

Episode 5 will be released this year but when, who knows. While you wait, find out what led up to TSL with the four winds :)

There's no rule against asking. You just have to realize that you are likely to get a response of :suffer:. :P

The same time it's out everywhere else.  We don't do staggered releases.

I know I'm prob in the minority here, but as huge and epic as Episode 5 will most likely be, the "grand finale" of the much beloved King's Quest series, If I had to wait till 2013, it would be well worth it!

I consider TSL just as much a conclusion to KQ as Incinerations is to SQ :D

Well here is some logical sense. Well since Ep4 took a while to release from the time of EP3. So we can say that since Ep5 is going to be the ending that us fans have been waiting for since the end of KQ7 that it will take a much longer period of time to be released. If I read in the newsletter thing form POS they said that they are doing Ep5 from scratch and stuff from scratch takes a while.  It will be a good while until this thing gets released.

Yes that's accurate.  With all the previous episodes we had a lot of existing scenes and stuff already put together and ready to work with.  Episode 5 is 100% new scenes that we have to assemble in a different engine and everything, so it is taking longer but it's coming along steadily.

As much as I can't wait for it to come out, I find myself not wanting it to end!!! Like Harry Potter all over again!!! Take as along as you need.....once it comes out, never will there be another silver lining episode to look forward to! As long as it doesn't leave questions unanswered of course.....unlike another book series I know that ended with more questions than answers...*cough*Inheritance*cough*

Have Telltale announced any kind of schedule for their King's Quest? I don't think they have, but there's a chance they'd have their first episode out some time in 2012. It would be "cleaner" if TSL 5 were out before Telltale's.

I'm secretly hoping that Telltale will canonise TSL (even in some small way, by referring to some plot point). But it would be easier for that to work if TSL was done with by the time their game is out. Still, I understand that TSL is being done for free, while Cognition is actually supposed to bring in the money, so I guess that's a priority.

As far as we know Telltale hasn't announced anything about what they're going to do with King's Quest yet.

Fingers crossed for a summer release of Episode 5!   :D

Sorry to have to tell you, but it won't be out this summer. As I said somewhere earlier in this thread, we'll be releasing Cognition first, and are hoping to have Ep 5 later this year. :)

I'm STILL waiting, patiently, for Episode 5.  I've got other things to do in the mean time, instead of just playing games (adventure games, please, PLEASE!!).
I remember, back in the day, one company wanted to redevelop their flagship business-oriented program, almost from the ground up.  They "completed" that program, and put it on the market (without adequate testing!!) and BOOM; the program nearly went out.  The company's many customers reported bugs, by the truckload!!  That company wound up spending about 1 1/2 years reassembling the program (after picking up all the pieces!!), cleaning up as  many of the bugs as they could (during their first beta-test), and updating it, still cleaning it up as they went along!!  Before I forget, that program was probably under 25 megabytes in size!!  (dBase 4, I believe).
All in all, take your time, and make an awesome game!!  I think everyone is supporting Phoenix Online Studios, to do a fantastic job!!.
