That seems to be a recurring trope with the songs in the KQ games--good composition, poor lyrical content. I actually kind of like the instrumental versions for "The Day You Were Gone" and "Coming Home," but I'm not terribly fond of the singers or the lyrics.

"The Day You Were Gone" falls in line with the rest of TSL, given how emo and yet strangely optimistic it is; however, "Coming Home" is even more emo, which is jarring, especially when you consider that the AGDI remakes are widely considered to be the most well-written of the fan games. It seems like the AGDI crew is better with dialogue than they are with poetry, where they seem to be simply rhyming sentences for the sake of rhyming sentences:

"When you look upon me, you see only stone,
But the soul left within me's my own."

...huh?

Not trying to bash here, FYI; just providing a little constructive criticism.
I have no mouth, and I must scream.

I just wanted to say... I agree with everything being said here about the specific songs.

.....and that my input in this discussion is clearly invaluable and you should thank me for taking part.
"If your translation is correct, that was 'May a sleepy hippopotamus lie down on your house keys,' but you're not sure. Unfortunately, your fluency in griffin-speak is too low."

We're roleplaying in the King's Quest world: come join in the fun!

That does seem to be a running problem throughout the series, including "Girl In The Tower."  I really enjoy the KQ6 Theme, but primarily for its style and singing; the lyrical content left much to be desired.

I recently previewed the music released in this thread's first post, and I enjoyed the singing style and the lyrics (where available).  But, I was thinking about the emotion conveyed in the songs, and felt that they're kind of wasted on a (nevertheless great) remake of a less-than-favorite KQ game.  Some of the lyrics are too deep for a game with so little story - as the original is from so many years ago, when graphical PC games were fairly new and stories weren't considered so important.  I'm sure the songs were enjoyable to compose and sing, but I, personally, feel that including deep songs on such a low-emotion game is like 'overbuilding in a bad neighborhood'.

Deloria

In my world, all neighbourhoods are baroque and overbuilding in baroque is impossible. :D

Listening to Coming Home. It's actually a pretty good song, then again, I say that about pretty every song I've heard for the King's Quest series.

The instrumental version of Coming Home is wonderful.  The song...eh.  It's missing something.

Harmonies. But I ran out of time.
