I haven't the foggiest how they implemented this, but I really love the anti-piracy measures Nintendo took with Spirit Tracks. The game would start up totally fine and look perfectly normal for the first while, but then if it thought it was a pirated copy the controls for the train wouldn't become visible on the screen. It was hilarious to see all the help threads showing up on GameFAQs and other places titled "Why can't I see the throttle for the train??"

Nintendo does a lot of funny ones. My favorites are by atlus. In strange journey you could play the game fine.... except there would be no random encounters ever.. so you could never level up or capture new demons... just walk around in empty dungeons until you reach the first boss and youre still level 1. And in radiant historia (a time travelling game), it just throws them into an endless time travel loop that seems like its part of the game but it makes the person just repeat the same segment over and over and over.

iv heard of pc games that do similar things.. but it seems much less common. Im guessing its less feasible because computers are unpredictably different.. whereas every nintendods is pretty much the same.

I bought the game but have been waiting for over 24 hours to be emailed the game.  Is this normal?  I bought the game through Game Stop.  When I go to "my account" nothing is there.  SHould I try purchasing the game again?

If you bought it through the Gamestop App or the Impulse Driven website it should show up in the app for download immediately. You shouldn't need to wait for any kind of email from them, just open the Gamestop App and click the "My Games" button at the top.

Ah yes.  I found the icon in the finder, but I thought it was for the demo I had downloaded a few weeks ago.  Thanks!

Okay, so I'm apparently inept with computers.  I bought Cognition through Gamestop, but I have a Mac, and the site won't let me download the Gamestop app that I need in order to install the game.  Any suggestions?  Do I just need to buy it again from a different site?

Ah ok, Gamestop only carries the PC version of the game, for the Mac version head over here:

I ended up buying the Season Pass on Rain after all. I thought I'd wait for a release on Steam or The Adventure Shop but could not wait anymore. The download was fast and the game installed and activated without issues.

You know, I think people will be really happy to hear the game is DRM free now!

Is it? I bought the game about five days ago on Rain and was asked to enter my serial code when launching it for the first time. It went super smooth and took like half a second to activate.

You probably snagged it just before the switch happened. The installer on their site has been DRM free since Sunday.

I know a lot of people made their concern about the DRM known, so I hope this alleviates their angst!

I think I actually downloaded the game on Saturday! I was too quick! :D

Personally, I don't really mind DRM when it's just a one-time activation, like what was used previously on the Rain version of Cognition. I buy many games on The Adventure Shop as well and most of them needs activation with a serial number (I believe they use Tages). It works fine for me.

But good news for all future buyers of Cognition! :)

Wow, huge thanks to the producers/developers for being so willing to make their game DRM-free! I'm very impressed that this change occurred so soon-- I was expecting that a switch to DRM-free would occur after the entire series was released. Anyway, I instantly purchased a season pass when I found out about this move. Thank you so much!

KatieHal

Hope you enjoy it and thank you, Argentum!

Did I get ripped off on Gamestop. I bought the Season pass in October. I see you don't list them as one of your stores anymore. I paid $30 for the season. I have played through the first Episode and had to get a copy of it from you due to the crash in one area. I don't see any updates for the game on the website or Episode 2, though I paid good money to have the full season from you. What can I do to get Episode 2, without having to spend my money again since I already paid for the Season pass in full and want to play this game, but can't since it isn't showing up on Gamestop?

I, too, am in the same boat. Can we have non-DRM versions of the game outside of the GameStop client? I was wondering why the game was not released yet through their client...

KatieHal

Hi riker and btague:

GameStop is not carrying Episode 2 at this, but if you email us at support at postudios.com, we can take care of you and make sure you still get the game. :) If you have your GameStop email receipt available, please include that in the email as well. Thanks!
