I'm so sorry about your friend, daknews. :( And there's nothing selfish about wanting to help friends & family, especially in situations like that.

I would use my post-cognition powers to resolve my common household issues....

How long has it been since I hand-washed this bra? Which cat puked on the carpet? (hopefully it's not the husband blaming it on the cat).  Which cat left the stinky poo on the edge of the box instead of inside the box! What leftovers are in this moldy tupperware in the fridge?

PLEASE tell me post-cognition works through gloves....

I've wanted this power for years (before I even knew it had a name). I've always thought helping law enforcement would be cool, but I REALLY want it to find the stuff my kids misplace: shoes, backpacks, special blankets, stuffed animals and other things like that. I swear, I spend half of my life looking for that stuff.

Not entering.  I'm a backer.

Hmm... well, I suppose I could shake the hand of a new girl I meet, and use the power to find out- truthfully- whether or not she has a boyfriend.  The last few girls I've tried to date haven't been honest with me in that regard; always making up other excuses not to go out with me, while hiding the fact that they were taken, and making me find out the hard way.  *sigh* Women.

While cold cases and experiencing history is fine, I won't do that. I'm basically very selfish and hopefully I would be able to prevent the accidental deaths of my family and friends. I lost a very close friend two weeks ago in a surgery after an accident. If I could have touched the surgical bed before her surgery and known she would die there, maybe I would have done something to stop her death. Or maybe my last hug would have revealed the impending accident and I would have not let her go shopping.

:(  Sorry to hear about that.

I'd probably use it for a combination of things, helping to solve mysteries of all types(though I imagine murders would be fairly traumatizing which might be explored during Cognition), and try to use it to help people reconnect with loved ones in some form.  The main issue with the power would be avoiding using it to the point of being too invasive in some cases.

Keep in mind that Erica has to actually touch the person/object for it to work.

I don't know, but I suspect it doesn't work through gloves. :-\

I own and play an old violin whose provinience is disputed. I'd love to find out who really built it.

And, expanding on this thought, I'd love to know how Bach and others really played their music by touching, say, an organ he played on or an autographed sheet of music.

I'm sorry for your loss, but I think you have missunderstood. From what I understand, Post-Cognition is: "by touching an object, she can see its past and the events that happened on, to, or around it."

I don't know if it would work by touching people, but it wouldn't be able to to see someones future. That would be a premonition, or Pre-Cognition.

Still, using the ability to save people from harm instead of using it for your own desires is very noble.  :)
There's so many movies/games/books/comics that I don't know where to start!

Well, better start with the classics and work my way forward...

cherubim

I would use it to discover if the bible tells the truth or not. I would also use it before buying used cars. It is also useful to locate people or pets or for magic tricks. Though my primary use was what I said first.

Deloria

Yay! I have a kindred spirit! :D Welcome, Cherubim! :)

Though my interests in that are of a feminist anti-patriarchal anti-QF nature. :P

If I had her powers, I'd work at Christie's and touch antiques all day long and find out everything I could about them. :D

Def I'd use the powers to track down some family history.  The North American chapter features some home children descendants, so we don't know as much as we'd like.

You are right Nabby. What I meant is touch the car which now is with the cops to make sure that the accident didn't happen.

Thanks to everyone who posted their kind messages.
