I played through the Cognition demo, I like the concept and the comic book theme. Although, I would make it so you can right click and see the cognition objects and then just click on the objects to see its past or even just make cognition mode permanent. I haven't played through the whole game to see if making you click the cognition button, then the object, then back to the cognition button has something to do with the gameplay or simply the whole make you work for it, like running in Wow so its slower and you feel more achievement. In my opinion the user interface makes you work too much, such as picking an object in inventory, clicking the target object, then clicking the suitcase to use item on object. Anyone else feel the same or is it just me?

Part of the decisions behind the way that the interface works have to do with making it a relatively simple process to get the game running on Mac's (where some people don't use two-button mice) and tablets (where it's just impossible to "right-click").

Ok that makes perfect sense. Although that does not explain why you can't just click the cognition button and then click the object, instead of having to click the button twice. And using items on items felt more intuitive in TSL. Should not affect macs or tablets at all. There is something I'm not seeing here, but personally it disrupts the suspension of disbelief for me, having to constantly click 3 times for cognition and using items. I am just asking because I do not understand, not because it needs to be changed or even that its bad. I like to understand things so I can accept it  ;D I'm interested in seeing what happens to the story though.

I can see what your saying, but it still cracks me up that is what intterupts your suspension of disbelief.  I mean, you're using a little plastic thing called a mouse to virtually move a pointer on a screen.... if I was really invested in believing reality, it would have ended there with me!

There are times when you need to select multiple objects for Cognition; thus the extra click to indicate you are done.

nice, now it all makes sense. Lol, honestly it doesn't really affect my disbelief that much, just brought that term up cause it seemed right at the time.

Hah, no I gotcha - I was just musing on that.  As game designers, we often think about the immersion factor and suspension of disbelief as we're designing and creating games.

I like it the way it is great streamlining it would just make the game lazy play imo and less immersive. thats just my opinion i do love my point and click games since the old kings quests lol and this game has made me a believer again in the genre. My post may be a lil off topic though lol.
