GrahamRocks!

Had any weird/awesome/awful dreams lately? Let's talk about 'em here!

I'll start:

Graham was trying to solve a mystery of some sort alongside his family. They get a lead to a Guild (thieves guild?) that Graham decides to join in secret to get answers and everything is going well... until he hears the rules for joining: swear an oath, sign a contract and permanently cut off any ties he has to any family he has.

This most likely means that he'll have to slaughter his own family. He returns to where they were waiting for him, and with tears in his eyes, tells them what has to be done. Just then Valanice gets an idea: they could fake it. Graham just says, "Okay... but you better be good actors."

He does the deed and leaves the room. Valanice, Alexander and Rosella "come back to life" and follow him, disguised as members of the Guild themselves.

I don't remember much else. i think the Guild was actually behind the mystery, and was actually some sort of cult ala Police Quest 3 or Gabriel Knight or Laura Bow 2, and the family did run into some trouble but they got away by climbing on the roof, jumping off, landing and "borrowing" some horses and racing away with the cultists on their heels. They reach a secluded area and hide, but they still are found somehow.

hrmm... pretty sure there are a number of dream threads...

Anyway... I had this weird dream in which I was discussing Portuguese with various instructors from Capoeira. Linguistic bit of my brain trying to boil down what Portuguese it's absorbed, I imagine. :P (I woke up as one of them was spelling "baixa" back to me... I think we were on the "i" :P)

I took a nap after work today, and during it I dreamed that Warehouse 13 came back on and they didn't resolve their cliff hanger. They just never even addressed that it had happened.

I didn't even realize how disturbed I was by the cliff hanger (which was several months ago at this point) til I woke up. I was literally sweating.

I might be too attached to my TV shows.

We watched Cinderella the other night. Afterwards, I dreamed that a family of mice had moved into a cardboard box in our house, and I was trying to get the cat to eat them. ??? I would be more likely to rescue the mice from the cat in real life.

k, I had two... nightmares, really, I guess...

In the more involved one, it was a full episode of X-Files wherein a little girl's teddy bear was possessed, this went back and forth, until the thing in the bear actually was like attacking the little girl (they were about the same size XD), so the mom went all stonecold Saxton on it and shot it. Mulder et al. figured out the demon whatever had an IR signature so they (they being the Lone Gunmen b/c hell if the FBI's gonna spend funds on this) brought in a bunch of IR cameras to track the thing's movements and get it out of the house. :P

The other one was much simpler: I turned on my new laptop and the display was all messed up and checker-boarded.

I once had a lucid dream. When I realized I was dreaming I decided to have fun with it.

Started flying around, shooting Kamehameha waves and stuff like that... best dream ever

I'll give my shorter dream first.

A "Bad Ending" of TSL, where Shadrack takes over. Captain Hassan and his crew see the Shadows on the horizon, and as Hassan draws a sword he tells his crew to abandon ship.

They don't.

They decide to stay with him to the end, and they all go out swinging!

How to have a lucid dream:

Stare out the window (if there is one, if not just focus on something) until you start zoning out. Eventually you'll close your eyes, but you may still be able to focus on the light pattern. Eventually your face and head will start to feel very fuzzy (think pins and needles) and you have to push through that to stay awake. Once it's passed, you should be able to manipulate the light image and it will flow naturally into a dream, where you'll still be able to manipulate things to your liking.

I did this last night! :D It was amazing! :D

Neat! I've heard that something like staring at your hand when awake, if you can then manage to do that in your dream as well, with allow you to dream lucidly.

I only seen to manage "lucid" dreaming in specific cases:

1) If my dream is unsettling/verging on nightmare territory, I'm usually able to force myself awake before the really bad stuff hits.

2) When I'm close to waking up, I can kind of be in control for a bit, though not too long before I am in fact awake.

3) My personal recurring dream is about trying to get somewhere and never being able to. For example, trying to leave a building, but after every hallway is a door and another hallway, that kind of thing. It turns into a runaround or a maze of some kind in my mind. Sometimes when this keeps happening, I start to recognize the pattern and I can kind of force my way out of that pattern, though I never quite manage to get where I'm going or find what I'm looking for anyways.

Apparently this symbolizes that I have anxiety about having too much to do and never feeling I'll be able to complete all of it, which is pretty spot-on!

Also, I had a dream last night that I met Felicia Day and started talking to her about King's Quest and The Silver Lining and then we were BFFs. :)

Interesting. :P When I don't feel in control enough, I will myself to start flying and then it can usually become lucid.

I dreamt I was being sued for being in a hotel lobby/restaurant in my bathrobe and PJs, and then I was all like: well 1) who's accusing me? (and they were all like "you are") and 2) you can't really think suing an international graduate student is going to get you a dime and 3) while the attire was not ideal, it was not indecent which furthermore means that given number 3, their reply to number 1 is wrong because I wouldn't be suing myself. :P

Besides, how can you be sued for being a hotel lobby/restaurant? :P

I had a dream that involved a crossover between King's Quest and Cthulhu Saves The World.

In the dream, the royal family was trapped in the latter game (at the Beach Cliffs) and was being overwhelmed by monsters (No, not Goozes or Dolphins! Something much stronger than that!). At this time, Cthulhu has just had his powers taken away, and discovers his quest to become a true hero. However! In order to not raise alarm at his return, Cthulhu decides to have a human serve as his vessel until he can return to full power.

Spotting the royal family engaged in battle nearby, he decides to possess Graham after seeing how well he fights with a blade. Graham tells his family to run and they do, with Graham trying to hold the monsters back to buy time for Valanice, Rosella and Alexander to escape. Cthulhu turns invisible and watches Graham as he collapses from his wounds and then strikes!

The sudden possession manages to revive Graham to full health, and he defeats the monsters with ease! However, Graham knows that something isn't right as he hears another voice inside his mind that isn't his own... He feels strong, yes, but perhaps a bit TOO strong...

I have a friend that's an expert at lucid dreaming and that kind of stuff. I heard that supposedly if you keep a dream journal it helps.  But, you have to write the dream down as soon as you remember it, otherwise you'll forget it.

I had a dream that a little kid was crying and screaming about how Pokemon ruined his life.

...I'm sure it's a metaphor for something.
I have no mouth, and I must scream.

I've had a couple dreams recently where I was driving at night in the dream and suddenly turned lucid mid-drive. As I was not sure how to drive in dream-world, I veered off-road and woke up screaming both times. Weird stuff.
