Okay, I get that you guys had to take out the KQ9 from the title when you got the first CAD, but... why did you take out the awesome pun of "Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining"?! It's what I always use whenever I tell people about your game, particularly my friend Cassie whom I signed off my email to her which was summarizing all the KQ games to this point with this: "Remember... Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining! (and, no. That wasn't a mispelling...)"

It's a great pun worthy of Sierra themselves, so why change it to just "The Silver Lining"? Yes, I realise Ranger says, "Accept the Silver Lining for your own!" before he gives him the Dream Amulet, but the earlier title was great too!

Aaron, I don't think it's got nothing to do with the forums, lol. This is a whole different area that may be best suited to answer by Cesar given this is Game Design and how they wanted to identify the game.

As when it comes to the identity for the game, I guess "The Silver Lining: Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining" would be redundant. Eventually the Directors at the time had the final word on this, it's an interesting topic: let's slit this and email it to them so they can express themselves here about it.

uhh... I meant just calling it "Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining" with no redundancy.

I tried to perhaps evaluate the options of including it, lol. Sorry, I've been staying up for days working and I guess I don't make much sense to myself either :P

Need more sleeep :(

Then go to sleep! Surely somebody else can take over for you, right?

Mostly we just found that on its own "Every Cloak Has a Silver Lining" didn't work as well, to us at least. It works well as a King's Quest title, definitely, but we couldn't have KQ in the title at that point, the pun doesn't work quite as well. So the shorter, simpler "The Silver Lining" was what we went with.

And TSL makes a better acronym than ECHASL, in my opinion. ;)

That was rather easy to find.

Don't people know the rules? If there is somewhere you can do then go there!

By the way... as a non-native English speaker, may I ask what does the phrase "every cloak has a silver lining" mean? I may have encountered it before, but anyway I don't know what it means...

Oldbushie

It's based on the phrase "Every cloud has a silver lining."

Well it can also mean "Even bad situations have something good about them"
